So what were they serving at MTV’s New Year’s Eve bash? You’d figure with all that experience on TRL, Times Square champagne sponge Vanessa Minnillo would know to hold back the f-bomb on live TV– no matter how much bubbly she was guzzling with her cohost boyfriend. vanessanick.jpgAnd she was hoping the big news would be the kisypoo display she and public paramour Nick Lachey put on for the reporter from Teen People:

Just before midnight, the two– who’ve been dating for eight months– took their spot in the window facing down on the crowd and discussed the end of 2006 and the big bash going on below them for the MTV cameras. But off camera, things heated up between the lovebirds.

Lachey whispered into Minnillo’s ear and kissed her neck. The occasion appeared to overwhelm Minnillo, who responded by dabbing away joyful tears. Minnillo later told PEOPLE she was pent up with emotion because “everyone that is important in my life is here. I literally choked up. I’m just so happy.”

We’ll see how happy she is when the bosses play back the tape tomorrow morning and those prigs from the FCC start talking fines. (You wouldn’t see Dick Clark blurting out the f-word– not that we’d have understood him if he did…)

Her reaction when she realized she cursed was hilarious. She was totally wasted, and it was great.

But I’m pretty sure they can’t fine MTV, since the FCC is only for the network channels. Cable networks can curse and show nudity, they just choose not to so they can avoid the protests of super right-wing family groups. So really, nothing will happen, I’m sure.

Way to miss “10″ in the countdown Dick Clark. Just die already, you’ve been useless for eons. Not that leaving us Ryan Seacrest is any better.
