well j-unit, you can spend the rest of your life eating buckets of slime. In 1942 my dad was a cub scout and they were invited to sit on the sidelines of a Duke football game. I was raised a Duke fan and cried through many losses in the 70′s. We’re not all newbies that jumped on a winner’s bandwagon.

well geewits, boo frickin hoo. In 1980, I was in the LSU band, cheering on the Tigers in the Philly Final 4. I cried through my share of losses ever since. We’re not all newbies that jumped on a winner’s bandwagon.

    Go Tigers!

I have never been happier. Well, except last year when my school beat Duke in the Sweet 16. But still…when Duke loses, everyone wins.

Bracket? what Bracket? I didn’t fill out a bracket. Oh, that? With all the red lines on it? Don’t look at that. That’s nothing.

    geewits,

Well, I remembered when the Yankees sucked as well. We were so bad, we had a pitcher throw a no-hitter and lose. I would watch Mets games with my grandfather to watch them lose, because it was not worth watching the Yankees to see if they win. Now the Yankees kick ass and everybody hates them, so I deal. Everybody loves the underdog and loves to see the favorites choke, especially in the NCAA tournament.

Besides, until you are seeded number 2 and lose to the Richmond Spiders, you don’t know pain.

This is right up there with watching Carolina beat Duke on their own court on J.J’s senior night. It’s fun to be a UNC alum, to have played in a shut-down street after we won the title last year, and see Duke spend four out of five years getting shot down in the Sweet Sixteen

J.J., all those pics of you crying on national television are long awaited paydirt for reading your hideous poetry on ESPN.

J-unit – ever go to truthaboutduke.com. The BEST.

I still can’t believe Memphis has made it this far.

Whatever gets you through the day, J-Unit…..

How ’bout you stick to your amusing commentaries on crap t.v.?

    Sincerely,
    One dejected, defeated, depressed Dookie

Courtney, do me a favor and stick last year’s tourney trophy in your mouth. What’s our head-to-head record…..ohh, right, we’ve beat UNC 16 out of the last 20 times.

Thank you doorsmats. I love Duke and have for a very long time. It was so sad to see JJ go out like that, but I have to credit LSU’s D. Hopefully he’ll do well in the pros.

    I BLEED Tar Heel blue.

Courtney Jones #1 (which also happens to be my name): your comment made my day, and even though our heels didnt make it this year, it is amazing what Roy Williams did with those kids.

Duke fans are just upset that 1) we are defending national champions and 2) beat Duke at Cameron and shut down JJ completely…what did he have 6 points that game?

    Earth to Court_Love,

You really hit the nail on the head….us Dukies are still crying in our cereal today about our loss 3 weeks ago to you….wtf?

Ummmmmm, JJ had 18 points in that loss….

I won’t disrespect your season entirely (it was pretty impressive), but you got knocked out by George Mason University….

I’m really not trying to make anyone mad, for serious, afterall it is the most intense rivalry in all of sports.

With that being said, I’d cry too if I were the ‘All Time Leading 3 point shooter’ and only scored 6 points last night.

    I don’t completly hate duke, I do like Coach K, I think he’s a good man.

And, yes we lost to George Mason, and that was quite an embarassment, but give us a couple of years, we’ll be back.

    So no hard feelings?

Yes, there should be no hard feelings between Duke and UNC, because to be honest, I can’t stand either of them, although I still loathe Duke a little more. You can all take solace that you are nowhere near annoying as USC football fans.

Now, I may revel in Duke’s losses, but that doesn’t mean I can’t respect each of the programs. I acknowledged UNC’s win last year and complimented them on their season. If Duke had won this year, I would have done the same. Perhaps I should have posted about UNC being eliminated by George Mason, but they were such a young team with so few expectations, I didn’t think it was worth it.

Tracie…you can’t believe that Memphis made it this far? What about GEORGE MASON??? Holy crap! They have totally made my tournament by beating Michigan State AND North Carolina!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Maybe Roy’s old curse has come back after FINALLY winning a championship??? One can only hope.

I love that JJ Redick only needed 18 points last night to become the ACC’s all-time leading scorer and he couldn’t pull it off. Maybe he’ll go write another crappy poem about it. (Did anyone else see the SportsCenter about him being a “poet?” Priceless!!)

    No hard feelings, Court_Love.

FYI – JJ definitely got shut down last night, but he had 11 points (not 6).

And UNC has a kick-ass recruiting class coming in next year…..unfortunately.

LRo9, uhhhhhh, JJ became the ACC’s all-time leading scorer awhile back…..that would be during the Temple game.

doorsmats–My mistake…I just saw the end of a report on SportCenter that said Redick needed 18 points to break some sort of record and assumed it was ACC scoring. In all reality, it was probably one of those retarded stats that only the Schwaub would know, like “Player to Score the Most Points in a Neutral Arena While Wearing One Sock and a Backward Jersey.”

I’m a Mason alum and I’m thrilled for us, but I was pretty shocked we beat UNC. I’m certainly not going to start talking smack, we’re still a fairly young program. As long as Maryland isn’t in it, I’m a happy camper.

Now what really made me smile was seeing Adam Morrison after the Gonzaga/UCLA game yesterday. (I did feel guilty about that reaction later though…..) For some reason the guy reminds me of a porn star from the 70′s.

George Mason played a fabulous game and we all know anything can happen in the tourney, which is what makes March the month of getting puffy on cheap beer and the chance to start pulling for teams you’d never followed.

    *cue the humming choir*

In a world full of war, an all-but-illiterate administration, the once protected rights of normal citizens on the line,

*mmm, mmm, mmm, whoa, mmm, sing it*

woman disappearing from their homes and reappearing on forest floors, and natural disasters one after the other,

    *yeah, yeah, yeah*

We still have March . . . the cheap beers and the newsprint brackets, the scores that make “breaking news” on CNN, the jumping up and down that shakes the plates in the cupboards, the frantic text messaging to celebrating friends across the state lines. It brings us together as one, and in the end, TVGasmers, together, we’re all at the top of the bracket, singing and swaying to a gospel choir and a Dennis Haysbert Allstate voice over, joined at once, by the Madness of March.

    *hmmmmmm . . . *

The NCAA tournament is the great equalizer. Sorta like a destination on The Amazing Race that doesn’t open until all the teams have arrived.

There was some white-knuckle basketball games on last night and I FREAKIN LOVE IT!

Brackets are shot to hell all over the place and the Gonzaga game was the reason I called in sick today. I watched Morrison roll around on the court with gruesome fascination. #22 yes, he does look like a 70s porn star. Deep in the 2nd half it looked like they had already won.

Who the hell wants to watch the #1 team dispatch everyone else all the way to the finals anyway?

Give me nailbiter scream at the tv basketball anyday. Even if my brackets suffer the consequences.

Hey geewits, Mr. “lifelong dookie,” when’s the last time you watched a Dukie football game – if you can actually call what they play “football.”

May all Dukie children have heads shaped like Sheldon Williams.

    J-Unit,

You my friend are a true Yankee fan, to remember that Andy Hawkins game when Barfield botched the flyball and errored and they lost 1-0. Or was that Melido Perez that lost that game, whatever, we’ve had winning seasons since those pathetic ’80′s and early ’90′s teams. It’s true we all love the undedog a la the Steelers in the NFL this year, as long as it’s not the CowGirls going for a SuperBowl with that traitorous tuna, I don’t care.

anonym, if you’re a Duke b-ball fan, I’d urge you to seek medical attention if you weren’t borderline depressed today. Unlike most of the haters (non-Dukies), we don’t have football to look forward to.

Well, at least we have some good news (NOT AT ALL) coming from the men’s lacrosse team.

    http://www.dukechronicle.com/media/paper884/news/2006/03/24/News/Dpd-DnaTests.Lacrosse.Team.In.Suspected.Rape-1716621.shtml?norewrite200603242118&sourcedomain=www.dukechronicle.com

sg-dub, most Dukies will gladly take Shelden-headed kids if having a mishapen dome piece also imparts the ability to drop 20 points and 10 boards per game and be the National Defensive POY. Bring on the lil’ Shels, please.
