MiniCap: Survivor

You know Gasmi, Scabby Blabby Maria proved herself to be a nasty person very early on this season, but DAMN.  She just keeps getting nastier and nastier, doesn’t she?  And not only that, she truly SUCKS at the game of Survivor.

I never thought I’d dislike someone more than Hantz.  Congratulations; you’re worse than he is.

She starts in right from the very beginning of this episode, laying into Skupin immediately upon their return from tribal because she’s so sure he voted for her.  Interestingly Penner steps up right away and tells her it was he that voted for her, not Skupin.

Unfortunately Penner wasn’t making any sort of move or sending a message when he voted for Scabby Blabby; he was merely confused about what the plan was.  How disappointing.

I know.  I’m disappointed in me too

Malcolm is actually very sweet to Lisa, telling her he understands it’s only a game and she was playing it, as he was as well.  This really seems to get to Lisa and she spends the rest of the episode looking like she’s about ready to come apart at the seams.

Hot sauce can only keep you together for so long.

She finds a surprising ally (and psychotherapist) in Penner, and although I know he’s playing the game, I think he also really does care about people out there.  Who knows?  Maybe I’m as gullible and naïve as Lisa is.

For the reward challenge they split into two teams again but because there is an extra person, someone will end up sitting out, picked by no one, with NO chance of getting the reward at all.

LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLLMFAO.  Oh shit.  I can’t breathe, I’m laughing so hard right now.

In my opinion the right team wins reward and they’re sent on one of those ambassador outings, brining school supplies and toys to the kids in a nearby village.  Don’t worry though; there’s totally a feast as well.  It’s actually really sweet and these are the rewards that I always love the most.

Back at camp one of the losers lectures another about how to play the game and how to act and I can’t believe someone hasn’t clocked this bitch yet.  (Oops.  Did I give it away?)

The immunity challenge involves balancing balls on a paddle and I have to admit that I was surprised with who ended up walking away with the immunity idol.  Pleasantly so.

There’s talk of switching it up which makes me believe it’s not going to happen.  It always seems like the more they talk about switching stuff up the less likely they are to do it.  They give good tribal again this week though I’m not sure they’ll ever be able to top the insanity of last week.

Try me

PottyMouth

When she isn't screaming curses at various dance show judges or washing her OWN mouth out with soap, PottyMouth is a proud mama to a gorgeous little boy. And yes, she knows everyone says that about their kids, but it's true when she says it. YES IT IS. Fuck you. She also laments throwing away the chance to be a trophy wife, and would like to find a rich husband so she can sit on her ass all day long and watch TV. If you are fabulously wealthy, look like Hugh Jackman (or ARE in fact Hugh Jackman), and are turned on by foul-mouthed, mature, slightly smooshy women, then she just may be the gal for you. Four Fingers gave a pretty epic death stare at tribal.

Thanks for posting that hilarious pic of Brazilian Hantz, rejected & singled out.

heehee– that he did PinkTop—it was awesome b/c he is sittin’ on the jury side. And I am wondering just what he will make someone do for his vote.

I am with you Pottykins– I think Penner has a real concern for people–esp Lisa. He could he hedging a bet for the future–trying to keep his karma in good stead or has a full-on teen crush for Lisa.
Is Denise making a move???? SHe is a great competitor–very strong. Nice to see Skupin win the immunity challenge–I thought we would have no winner on that.

You know, I go to my gay websites and some of them have GAY RECAPS of these shows.

This is not me speaking; this is the recapper from one of my gay websites: He said, Penner is trying to brainwash Lisa/Blair. He said Penner is going about it the wrong way though. He said the way to do it is to lock LISA in a closet and start calling her TANIA.

He also said that the reason we all like Denise is because Denise is Ripley (from ALIENS).

Okay…I love me some Denise. But Ripley??? Just…don’t.

Another great episode…looking forward to the full recap!

I too was very disappointed in Penner. But it worked out great for him — Jeff the Douchebag-sparker-of-comment-flame-wars was ousted, and he was Penner’s biggest threat. And his voting for Scabies (and her accusing Skupin) definitely helped sway Skupin to Penner’s side.

Lisa, meanwhile, is quickly becoming a poster-child for how fundamentalist religion dulls the brain. She’s touching, in a way, sort of. Although at 49, this whole catharsis thing is kind of sad. Maybe she’ll stop hot-saucing her kids though. Here’s hoping!

Abi needs to stop. Just. Stop.

I read somewhere that Lisa had divorced just prior to the start of the show. Her emotional state makes more sense with that tidbit of info.

Denise as Ripley 2.o – love it!

@ Pink Top: \Brazilian Hantz\ sounds like a hot wax job that I don’t want to experience ever! ;-D

As for Jeff, watch him at the Ponderosa whine and moan about how bored he is and how awful it is that he lost the million. What a crybaby. As if he even needs the million. What a poor sport of a pig! I’m glad they got rid of him. Too bad it wasn’t before the jury was formed, then he wouldn’t even have a chance to luxuriate at the Ponderosa. He was still whining during the footage of Artis’s arrival at the Ponderosa. Pathetic.

Finally able to read the recap. And I want to kiss your face for showing that pic!

Although the producers made it a bit dramatical when they put her on that platform in the middle of a ditch as if to indicate that she is swimming along on her own! LOL I don’t think the producers like her as a person, but they certainly have liked to mess with her because she is tv gold.

“Don’t worry though; there’s totally a feast as well. ” aaarrrgggghhh!!!

I was also pleased at who won immunity.

Take care and thanks for the recap :-)

I don’t hate Blabby Maria as much as I despised Hantz. It’s becoming clear that Blabby is mean and stupid because she just can’t help it. Her nastiness isn’t calculated, it just is. You know, like mold or that nasty fungus growing between your toes. And she’s fun to watch, because you never know what stupid thing she’ll do next — and knowing it doesn’t matter what she does, because everybody wants to carry her to the final three.

Hantz, on the other hand, set out to be a nasty asshole on the show, knowing full well it’d get him lots of screentime (and producer assists for things like finding idols). He wanted to be despicable for the sake of being despicable — which is the most despicable thing of all.

Lisa strikes me as someone who is just starting to wake up after spending years in a cult. The divorce helps to explain that too.

Scabby Abi’s nastiness is bearable because I, too, think it just comes naturally. Also, when she starts running that nasty, blabby mouth of hers it makes me giggle to see Pete’s facial expressions of disbelief and dismay. I wonder at what point he came to the realization that aligning himself with her was his downfall.

Amazing . . . the evictee (for those who haven’t see it yet) who I thought would be a complete a-hole gave a very classy farewell . . that’s how it’s done Jeff Kent.

@ Clair ….You’d have gotten spoilers on both the immunity winner and the evictee had you read the comments here for the minicap first anyway. It’s the only thing I don’t like about the minicaps….spoilers in the comments.

Yeah, there’s a spoiler out there for the final three. Douchebags.

I also thought Pete’s comment when he cast his vote for Jenner was quite fair — definitely made me change me mind about him a little bit. I wonder if he’s been taking the hit for Scabby’s nastiness?

@crankyguy, it was spoiled on reality blurred (and possibly others), but at least avoid that one, if you don’t want to know.

@southern essence, I’m not sure what the etiquette for a mini-cap is, but I was under the impression that we don’t spoil the person who got booted in the mini-cap, but the other details were fair game. Am I under the wrong impresion?

Who determines if a show even has mini-caps? Is it up to the recapper or do certain shows require a mini-cap? Why do some people demand no spoilers in a mini-cap? So many questions.

If I were the sort to be upset at finding out who got voted out on an episode, I think I would refrain from reading any sort of recap until after I had watched the episode. What if I’m the kind of person who does not want to know what the immunity challenge is, and Pottymouth RUINS it for me by revealing that it involved balancing balls on a paddle? That would totally suck.

It’s not really a spoiler after the episode has aired — it’s just a courtesy to others who haven’t had time to watch the episode not to reveal information in the title of the minicap/recap or in the first couple of lines of a comment (because they show up on the sidebar).

Otherwise, it’s easy enough to avoid reading a recap, like crankyguy says — so I don’t see a problem with discussing the winner otherwise.

The other kind of spoiler, the kind that ruins the entire season for everyone, is a no go, of course.

Oh yeah. And the whole balancing balls on a paddle thing. Real nail-biter that one. Anyone remembers when Survivor used to have real challenges?

I’m watching the French version these days — and they stick to the old format, of people not having any food or fire, and most of the challenges taking place out in the water. It’s kind of funny to watch, since the French have a much different approach to playing the game — they’re really into concensus, there’s hardly any of the scrambling game-play in the American version. Which makes the French version kind of boring. Oh, and each episode is two hours long.

I wonder why she had to sit out the reward challenge? Don’t they normally let the person who’s “out” choose which side they’re supporting and if they win, the person sitting out goes with them?

It was a “school yard pick” and no one chose her to be on their team. And I don’t blame them judging from her performances in the few challenges she’s participated in.

I’m going out on a limb and assume that Flabby was equally obnoxious to the crew — and to Probst — forcing her to sit out was a bit of payback.

I think itchy is safe on his limb. There have been different outcomes for the person sitting out of reward challenges, at least once with the person sitting out automatically going on the reward, to the person picking a team and either going or not depending upon how the chosen team does, down to Flabby sitting out and not going in any case. It must depend to some extent on how much the crew likes you. I think Probst is annoyed with her for sitting out so many challenges anyway, and there was no way he was going to give her a reward for sitting out again, even if it wasn’t her choice this time.
