The Taste Minicap: Nigella’s Gonna Cut a Bitch!

Hola, Gasmii!

This is Jimbob Jones stepping in for Eyediosmio for the finale of The Taste. About the only thing ethnic about me is that first sentence, but don’t worry, I can fake it — I took 2 Spanish classes in high school, and can remember at LEAST half a dozen words, all of which I learned from the Taco Bell menu and some Hispanic friends who swear a lot.

After last week’s elimination of 14 contestants, this week we have the remaining 4. And, for a change, the series actually lives up to it’s name by having the winner determined with a completely blind tasting.

But that’s only after we have some not-so-surprising disturbing flirting between Ludo and Home-Cook Barbie, a highly surprising early elimination, some unexpected cattyness, and a less surprising winner. Even more surprising is that I went an entire episode without wanting to hurt Malarky, so call Ripley’s.

Stay tuned later this week when I can see if I can fill Eyediosmio’s shoes with my large feet. I’ve been practicing with my wife’s shoes — it isn’t going well.

Discuss the episode (without spoilers, or Nigella will cut a bitch!) And read Eyediosmio’s much funnier review of last week’s show, while weeping that you’ll have to put up with me for an entire recap. I hear that Tequila does wonders to dull the pain.

Software Engineer by day, semi-semi-semi-professional horror writer by night, writing about bad things happening to good (and not so good) people has somewhat prepared me to recap reality TV for the Gasmii (though not necessarily to watch it, which I do with the covers drawn to just below my eyes... Jason Voorhees has nothing on Padma Lakshmi).

Man, I feel like shit…I think my comment on Eyediosmio’s last recap must have scarred her for life because she disappeared right after that!!! Sorry EDM!!! Also, my capcode is “You’re Fired!”…hmmm

Then what are you doing here!?! Trying to do the same for me!?

Actually, she mentioned very briefly at the end of the recap that she’d be missing this week. Flipit asked if I could fill in (when Flipit “asks”, it involves cattle prods, a rabid monkey, and the first episode of Cop Rock).

Cop Rock! I don’t understand how you can say that is a torture device – that is the best show ever made where cops and killers randomly burst into song and dance in unity.

@Chicken Lips — I remember liking it, too (as dumb as it was), but how often do you get to make a reference to Cop Rock?

    I shoulda gone with Manimal.

Good, I’ve got it taped (so as to zip thru the mayonnaise ads) and since I’ve just watched the Hantzy Pantz vs. Philip hoe down, I’ll go fire it up. Looking forward to yer fine recap.

I finally watched the last episode of Top Chef and hated it. Hated the cheesy music. Hated Padma. So, I’m ready to be converted to The Taste, especially since it had a heaping serving of hubris. Just the way I like it.

Apologies, Gasmii… I WILL have this done before the weekend is out (something to look forward to, or dread, on Monday). Unfortunately, work decided that it wanted to kick me in the jingle bells a few dozen times.

The up side is, the project that was killing me is pretty much over, so I can continue recapping this wonderful season for the next few months…

    *Looks up definition of “finale”*

Well, you’ll have the final recap on Monday.
