The Taste Minicap: Episode 3 – Wine and Dine

The Taste

Hola Gasmii and welcome to my favorite episode of The Taste so far.  Why is it my favorite? Because dear Gasmii, it is all about the vino, and I am a HUGE fan of vino.

Remember last week’s recap I wondered if people were gonna start getting catty with each other?  Well – BINGO!   Team Malarkey has a nasty little tiff between two contestants, who are making very catty remarks in interviews and exquisitely eye-rolling at each other! Love!

And two contestants go home again and I have some advice for future competitors in Reality TV Cooking Shows:

1)  Do NOT repeat the mistake of a former axed competitor (When the judes say:  avoid the sweet – AVOID THE SWEET!)

2)  When famous Chefs question your choice of seasoning or food prep, PAY ATTENTION!  Remember, this is the best of the best, so you should RECOGNIZE!

3)  When your food is up for elimination, don’t sass the judges and tell them it’s “your pallette,” Humbly acknowledge your wrongdoing and try to dress up your mistake the best you can.  Seriously!  (Also, this show is called The Taste, not The Bitchy Sore Loser.  Maybe your food tasted BAD.  Consider it.)

Two contestants make these mistakes and it ends up booting them out the door.  And I have to say, Diane was no where near as bad as another contestant’s sour attitude this episode.  Can you guess who I am referring to?

Oh, and it should be noted that Ludo’s “flibbity flibbity, fleu fleu, le what?” accent was in full effect tonight because Froggy was NOT pleased and very worked up and I had to rewind several times to understand what he was raging about.

Oh and Bourdain is my damn hero again, as he casually swigs all the wine and proceeds to not really give a shit. I know some of you don’t like him, but my love for the Bourdain is still steady and true.  So pour yourself a glass of vino, Gasmii and tip it!

Actually, wait until the full recap to enjoy that glass with me, which should be up very soon.

So, let’s discuss in the comments!

  • Was Ludo out of control?
  • Is Nigella totally gonna lose this thing or will she dance with some penguins and cartoons to distract everyone and just steal the damn trophy?
  • Will Malarkey be able to express an emotion or will he be Kidman-ed out forever?
  • Will Bourdain give a shit?
  • And most importantly, was Diane less hateful this episode?

I think Diane was less hateful but only by comparison. Cannot stand her and I get annoyed that she cooks well. lol

As for Staypuft Marshmellow Man, I fist pumped when he left because of his “better than everyone” attitude. I hope the judges are pissed now that they saw what he said about them behind their backs during judging. “Suzie fucking homemaker, a leprechaun and a guy who hasn’t cooked it twenty years!?! refering to Nigella, Ludo and Tony? Respect indeed.

@TVKimmy: Yes, Diane is still awful. Apparently she may be regretting some of it because she tweeted something along the lines of “I may not be well liked, but check out The Taste tonight!” Hee!
This is why Reality TV can be bad and good, maybe she got a personality check on her behavior once it aired. Food for thought.
And Friggin Stay Pufft (good one!) was so incredibly out of line, there are no words. His feewings were hurt, awwwww. So much so he was threatening to leave BEFORE elimination. That guy, man. So defensive and unwilling to learn or take criticism. AND he’s married with three kids I think. Can you imagine being married to a man like that? Hellz no.

And also anyone who disparriages my Nigella is DEAD TO ME! Good day sir!

Ludo is still a gigantic shaft.

@eyediosmio, are you coming around to my previous estimation of Gregg? Not only did Bourdain put him on the Axis of Evil, he’s even too arrogant for both Ludo (\ I chose Gregg because I want him to just shut up his mouth\) and DIANE (\[h]e’s just someone I want to hit all the time\). Even the nice folks had nothing good to say (Erika: \Gregg has a tiny tad bit of arrogance\). What really bugs is that he stands in a Buddhist wai after his successes, which is supposed to be a sign of respect and humility, when we all know he is gloating and self-satisfied. TED BUNDY, I say!

@JustDucky: You know, I thought that whole segment about Gregg was hilarious. I thought of you all especially when Tony called him the Axis of Evil. I can’t get behind hating him though. I think if I was competing with him he’d probably just annoy the crap out of me, but he doesn’t really go after anyone personally so I can’thate so much.
Diane on the other hand has specific cruel things to say about people and I find that obnoxious and uncalled or.
Gregg’s arrogance I just find amusing. And at least he tries to “help” people even if they don’t want it. Remember, he’s a culinary school instructor, too – so that may be why he tries to direct people all the time.
It’s still early in the competition though, and we’ve seen several people get defensive and nasty this episode, so it could be his turn to make me hate him.
One person I cannot hate on is Khristianne, I don’t know why, but I am totally rooting for her.

I’m rooting for her too, even if she is a bit gruff and a reality TV whore (just caught her on Millionaire Matchmaker – don’t judge – and remembered her as being pretty scary on the Real L Word, but that was manufactured drama anyway). Anyone who works for Charlie Sheen has to have a pretty good sense of humor and she is clearly talented. I also like Uno – and you should like her as well, woman likes her booze. Sadly my memories of the cuisine in Laos are marred by dysentery, but even if her one note is SE Asian cuisine, she’ll go far in my book.

Uhhhhhhhhhh you know woh the judgesare… if you didn’t want to get judged by “Suzie fucking homemaker, a leprechaun and a guy who hasn’t cooked it twenty years!?! ” then don’t go on the show. Ugh, good riddance.

I think Malarkey secretly pleasures himself to thoughts of Ludo.

And I know people are gonna look at me like I’m on crack for this, but I kind of like Diane.
Yes, she’s a huge bitchy mcbitcherson, but I kind of like that she can back it up with good food.
If she was just a bitch for no reason, that would be different.
And she’s funny…she reminds me a little of Bette Davis.

I don’t like Gregg and Lauren gets on my last nerve. That guy with the beard and ponytail is annoying too.

I have a minor obsession with Jeff, and also really like Uno and Khristianne.
