We can all look forward to a new cast of smiling phonies, fakers, shameless exhibitionists– and maybe even a closeted gay man– next spring. No, not in a new session of Congress– but another season of The Bachelor. ABC has announced it’s given the greenlight for a 10th season of the upscale Flavor of Love series, no little thanks to the success of the latest The Bachelor: Rome, which is rating well in the post-Monday Night Football era, and attracting lots of female viewers, as well.

Maybe it’s that potential cameo by the Pope, or simply all those pretty wpmen who dream of marrying a Prince who runs a cosmetic line for pets. In any case, a year ago, the show seemed to be on its last legs, but the jaunt to Paris– and now Rome– will lead us to yet another jetset location–as early as late spring if ABC needs it (they’re already casting.

Bachelor: Rome airs its season finale on November 27– that’s up against Part 1 of the OJ Simpson How I Murdered My Wife special, so here’s your chance to choose the very lesser of two evils.
