MTVupick.jpgWe’re only a few episodes into the latest season of Patheticfest 2004 – aka The Real World/Road Rules Battles of the Sexes 2 – but MTV is already stirring it’s pot for the next installment of our favorite campy competition. The next season is still unnamed, but according to MTV.com, the twist is that we the viewer allegedly get to choose the teams. Now, when I read that, I immediately got excited. For once we could shatter the egos of Veronica, Coral, Mike, Katie, and Abram by vetoing them for the next season. But alas, my hopes were soon dashed when I discovered that we don’t have any say on the cast members per se but only which team they’ll wind up on.

Still, that’s not a bad deal. Teams are divided into “Naughty” or “Nice” categories, which is Bunim/Murray’s euphemistic way of saying “Sluts, assholes, and idiots” or “Who is that girl again?” I suppose this upcoming season will be some sort of morality play, if there can be one in the Bunim/Murray universe.

I therefore make this plea to voters. Don’t try to sort players into “Naughty” or “Nice” categories. Think about the teams. What will be the most interesting to watch? Maybe one team should be all old people while another is young. Oooh, or maybe minorities against the white folk? At the very least, get people who hate each other on the same team: Veronica and Emily, Veronica and Katie, Veronica and Amaya, Amaya and Colin, Coral and Julie, Julie and Melissa, etc. Okay, so maybe this will be Battle of the Sexes 3…

    Oh, Colin’s coming back, huh? After spending an entire season smack-talking MTV on his blog and swearing he’s no sell-out and will never do one of these things again, THAT Colin? Prick.

    The fact that Donnell from Road Rules appears to be participating may actually force me not to watch it. And Stephen from Seattle? These are two criminally insane people, who I believe both have police records for assault. Real nice, MTV.

    I seriously will pay cash money to see minorities vs. whites. The minority team will be ‘hillarious’ like Landon’s roommate and ‘cool as hell’ for Cammy.

    Wasn’t Piggy RR-Australia? Semester at Sea was Veronica, Ayanna and Pua.

    Yes, and Piggy also was booted from the Gauntlet (I think) right before it started filming for drug use, according to rumor.

    Because of where I currently work, people always say Oh, you should work for Mtv. However, there are few things that annoy me in the world, one of them are blatant inaccuracies. Like once, one of my shows aired saying Jerry Springer was the mayor of Cleveland, (everyone knows he was the mayor of Cincinnati.) And then seeing Piggy listed as a member of Semester at Sea? I mean, who is putting these things together? Didn’t Mtv produce that show? Where is the fact checker!!!
    I am now 25 and I sadly can’t watch the regular seasons of RR and RW anymore, because I just don’t get the kids, but it’s pretty sad that I recognize 80% of the people listed for the new Battle. Seriously when is Beth going to realize, besides RR LA her only claim to fame is the classic Pauly Shore movie “Son in Law” where she is an extra, oh, and everyone hates her. And Puck, isn’t he like 40-something? Is it mean to say I really hate him. I’m not a hating kind of person, but I in fact hate him. I could probably find something awful to say about every potential member, but that would take up too much space, and honestly, the idea gives me a headache. In summery:
    Why God? Why?

    Feel free to hate Puck. He spit on a man. One could consider mitigating circumstances if he’d punched David. But spitting is in a special realm all it’s own. You don’t just snap and spit on someone. That’s calculated intent to humiliate.
