Who should replace Rosie on The View?

Roseanne Barr for Rosie O’Donnell?

Do you believe ABC would really replace the fat (yes, we said it–”fat”), loud, angry, liberal bigmouth with mental problems on The View with an older louder, fatter, angrier, even more politically extreme bigmouth who’s probably mentally ill? Though Roseanne’s been angling for a return to the small screen, we’d say don’t count on it.

Who do you think should replace Rosie on The View?

Our suggestion is to go for the junior version:janeane.jpgJaneane Garofolo. Though slimmed down and only two years younger than Rosie, she’s also a chunky comedienne and motormouth identified with the liberal cause, very serious about her opinions, and the right age to talk body clocks with Elisabeth Hasselbeck, whose latest pregnancy announcement didn’t quite knock the Rosie story off the front burner this morning.

We’re also hearing Connie Chung, Whoopi Goldberg and Joan Rivers (TV failures all) are being considered for the gig. But what do we know? We’re more interested in your choices.

(And save the TB attacks. They bounce off. Suggestions, please!)

I think Roseanne is a great idea for the spot. And she actually had a successful sitcom for years–I’m sure she can be “reigned in” more easily by tv execs if they don’t want her to be too far out there.

Connie Chung and Joan Rivers would be a disaster. Whoopi may be a bit too boring. I think Arianna Huffington would be a good fit (and boy, would she wipe the floor with Elizabeth).

They still have to fill Star’s seat (which I assume they view as the “minority” seat), and I always thought Gayle King would be the best fit there. She’s political, but not as in-your-face as Joy, Elizabeth and Roseanne would be. Gayle could also potentially be the moderator–I don’t think Roseanne could handle that part of the gig.

    “And save the TB attacks.”

Only if you promise to take your mouth off Trump’s dick for two minutes and come up for air.

Ann Coulter should cover for Bitsie during her maternity leave.

    Tabby, don’t be nasty.

A few other options that might be worth considering for Rosie replacements. A “Rosie Lite” if you will – Megan Mulally (from Will & Grace), Ricki Lake (had her own talk show in the 90s, also known for her breakout role in “Hairspray”), Sarah Rue (most recently in “Two and a Half Men” and “Less than Perfect”). I also really enjoyed when Aisha Tyler (formerly of “Ghost Whisperer”) has guest co-hosted in the past, but I think she’s focusing on a movie career right now. And, as TheEmancipationofGigi (#1) suggested, Gayle King would be another good choice to round out the cast.

Although I like Rosie, I thought her strong personality kind of trampled over everyone else at times, instead of complementing the other women like Meredith Viera did. I hate the idea of Rosanne Barr/Arnold/whatever on The View because she will likely do the same thing and would most likely suck at the moderator job.
