Spike tonight 10pm after CSI

If you like procedurals like CSI, love gore comparable to SAW and SE7EN enjoy reality TV and have testicles, then be sure to tune in to SPIKE tonight for the premier of their new series MURDER.

MURDER is a wish fulfillment show. Now lest you think I hurt puppies and kittens while hating my mother, my genitals and am planning my own murderous spree, allow me to explain. After years of watching LAW & ORDER, CSI, EVIDENCE, KOJAK, DRAGNET, MONK…jesus, just wikipedia “police procedural”, after years of these shows, most of us are pretty sure we could do what those characters are doing just as easily. MURDER is that show.

Every day men and women team up and solve real (pre-solved) murders. They have access to a masterfully recreated crime scene (not for dinner hour viewing) which they have to process, they chat in the morgue with the corpse by their side as they get autopsy results, they can question suspects — in essence they get to play detective / csi. This brings me back to being a wish fulfillment show. One of the reasons the show works is that the teams don’t win anything. It is a pure bragging rights show, and then presumably to avoid criticism that they are exploiting the victims, the winning team has a donation made in their name to the victims charity or if their is none, a charity in the area which the original crime took place.

This isn’t CLUE, it’s not even CLUE on steroids. If anything, MURDER is CLUE on crack. They even give you enough that there is a great play at home component to the show. Not for the faint of heart, MURDER premiers tonight on Spike at 10pm.

Good show. I liked it. The girlfriend thought it was tasteless and disgusting. It’s on Spike, so she’s not the target audience anyway.
