One of the great things about blogging is that I get to watch lots of embarrassing television and get away with it by saying it’s part of the job. This helps when you are trying to explain to people why you have a season pass of Days of Our Lives on the Tivo in your bedroom (don’t worry Tyra, I didn’t forge about you!). I love Days and although we don’t have anybody recapping it (if you want to recap Days or any other show, I hear we are having a contest), I recently received a press release that I had to share. Smokey Robinson will be playing an axe murderer and taking Dr. Marlena Evans hostage! OK, that may not quite be the whole story, but read the details after the jump.In the two-episode story arc, Marlena Black (Deidre Hall) is lost in the snowy wilderness and is startled by a mysterious man carrying an ax! She learns it’s none other than Smokey Robinson who just so happens to be vacationing at a secluded cabin nearby. He rescues her from the cold and brings her back to his place to recover in front of a warm fire and calls the authorities. Later, John (Drake Hogestyn) tracks Marlena down at the cabin and Smokey gives an impromptu performance for the reunited couple singing “I Love Your Face.”

Ok, that’s fine and everything, but shouldn’t this be Bo and Hope? He really does love his Fancy Face.

    I’m happy to know J-UNIT loves terrible TV too, because I’m 99.999% of the time ashamed to say I follow Days and Passions!

    So is Smokey Robinson playing HIMSELF as an axe murderer? That can’t be good for his career.

    And can I just say that I know it’s all plastic surgery, but I hope I look that good at Deidre Hall’s age. She’s got to be pushing sixty, and I swear she looks exactly the same as she did when I first watched “Days” twenty years ago.

    Someone needs to recap Days for those of us who hardly get to see it ayymore :(

    Between Claiken abd Smokey, DOOL really is targeting all the demographics!

    Actually, Marlena thinks she is being chased by an axe murderer, but it turns out to be Smokey Robinson frolicking in the wilderness. John finds Marlena and then Smokey serenades.

    Hopefully there is a real axe murderer to chop up that smarmy EJ Wells!

    Ubiquitous – seriously! The first look I took at Smokey made me think, “Hmm – someone’s had one too many eye jobs/brow lifts.” A bit scary, methinks.

    I think Marlena has been the most kidnapped woman in soap television history. Look it up. Also, she has had the same face since she was ‘electro woman’ in the 70s.

    Oh my God! I totally thought I was the only one who had a Tivo Season Pass of Days…glad to know I’m not the only one!
