MiniCap: Toddlers & Tiaras

Toddlers and Tiaras

By DearCrabby | | 9:42 pm | 75 Comments

The storm is coming, people.  T&T spinoffs never stop giving.

We’re getting back in our groove with this episode of Toddlers & Tiaras…drama, idiots and the bastardization of the English language, just like we like. And Tonya with Bailey’s Pageants and the Miss Mardi Gras pageant! Loving the long hair, Tonya!

First up is Tori who is playing with some kind of farting toy and she keeps saying, “I’m gassy and I work out.” Me too! Her mom is the mom to hate in this episode. She says things like she’s some sort of philosopher and she just sounds like an ignorant hilljack. In addition, she has a huge ego about her daughter, and says that the uglier the kid, the prettier the dress has to be to make up for how ugly the kid is. Yuuuup. The dress for her soul must be GORGEOUS.

Never a T&T episode without the appearance of an ATV, we meet Jasmine as she’s driving around flirting with death. This episode, she’s the kid to hate. She is arrogant and says she’s a “diva bomb explosion” onstage. What makes it worse is her mom and aunt are totally creating this monster. I mean, little bitch says, “I love me more than anyone else loves me.” That is because no one else can STAND YOU.

Finally, we meet our unfortunate name of the episode, Amiya, who was put in pageants to help her shynees. Now she dresses as a slutty cop as mom tells us they didn’t come here to lose. Yes, because pimping your daughter out to pedophiles is the way to win.

So catastrophe occurs when Tori gets Dane Dane to royally f#ck up her hair (she must have studied at the Fransolonely Cutabitch School of Hating Pageant Girls) and when Jasmine’s music suddenly stops during her routine. Nothing like a little technical foul to take an arrogant bitch down a notch. However, big props for Tori’s big prop – a float – designed by dad. And no props to f#cking DirecTV/TLC for extending their own commercial so long, we only got to see the end of Tori’s routine (looks like she lives. Meh).

I won’t give away who won but needless to say, some mom ends in tears then gives the other moms advice based on her experience in the last 24 hours. Because she’s just that much of pageant guru. Idiots! And this episode…seems like it might get a mom or two to comment on the recap. Tori’s mom just seems like the type that is going to troll for snark. And this episode is a gold mine, believe me.

Jasmine has dead eyes, especially in her last TH. Doesn’t bode well for her future, no matter how
    “awesome” she is.

You know, I watched the dvr less than an hour ago, and I can’t recall what Amiya looked like or what her “talent” routine was. Shows how memorable she is, I guess.

Tori was annoying. The hair catastrophe was divine justice for her mother’s insufferable arrogance. Her mother could stand to pay some attention to her own hair, as it looked greasy, stringy, and badly cut., especially in her crying scenes. Bitch is ugly when she cries.

@Alice- yes, Makenzie was there and she ain’t looking good…sort of like a sloppy drunk.

@J-Nut…sorry…I really looked for pictures from the episode, but iTunes didn’t have it yet. June never ceases to scare, so why not share the wealth? I do think little Honey Boo Boo is adorable. I fear for her future.

Also – agree on Amiya, she was forgettable…sometimes she looked Asian, too. WTH?

Was Tonya drunk? When she was going on about how life is like a pageant, I felt like I was in the Twilight Zone.

Poor Mckenzie. She is not aging well.

Tonya looked so odd – was she high? When you can see someone’s entire iris and all the white around it, well, they seriosly need to do some meditation or switch to decaf or something.

I saw Mac as well – why was she called ‘Kenzie”? And she didn’t do well at this pageant. I have sometimes wondered if the children being ‘followed’ are judged differently – they almost always pull for higher titles. ‘Course, you can’t win all the time and Mac was looking a bit like she had been rode hard and put away wet.

Insufferable Moms and their insufferable kids. And if Tori’s Mom hated the hair, why didn’t she speak up? She was paying this woman to do this, not the other way around.

I am mystified by the ‘honey booboo child’ thing. Why the fascination with her and her family? I live in the South – I’m surrounded by folks like these – they aren’t that interesting. Can they really built a series on this odd looking child saying she’ll ‘holla for a dolla’?

Oh how happy I was to see Nini albeit for a couple of short moments! DC, as always, you took the words right out of my mouth. Tori’s “ugly child hater” mother was a total douche. Has anyone else notcied that when alot of these mothers say their child is beautiful, they’re really not? Must be a lot of fantastic dresses out there to hide the fugly. Jasmine-OMG I wanted to bitch slap her. Tonya’s eyes reached a new high, and I do mean high.

The ad for Honey Boo Boo Child turned my stomach- Some SERIOUS white trash there, yet I won’t be able to turn away from it, like a car wreck. TLC truly will give anyone and anything a reality show. Hurry with your full recap Crabby, I can barely wait for this one!

Dane does great h&m. When you go to h&m you either hand your hair over already rolled, or you give it to your h&m person the night before to roll. Your wig is only as good as the rolling. You want to start with “dirty” hair, you don’t want it to be newly washed and full of conditioner, it rolls better if it’s full of freeze-it and hot-sets. Judging from the way it looked, it was not rolled right. Maybe she used conditioner? Maybe it was a synthetic fall. Not sure, but it looked like that hair was not holding a curl and that’s not the fault of the h&m person, unless they were the one who rolled the fall the night before.

Mom is playing the old COI (conflict of interest) card. “My kid didn’t win and it’s because so and so liked so and sos kid better”. Whatever. Accept the fact that you failed hair rolling 101 and move on.

Dane-Dane is actually a very experienced H/M person and I’ve trusted her with my DD’s hair on more than one occasion. The problem was that hairpiece. It was so poorly treated and cared for that it looked like synthetic hair. Really not a lot that could have been done to save that rat.

I’m really surprised Amiya’s mom ended up NOT being the crazy one. I’ve seen her pitch a fit when her daughter doesn’t win Ultimate.

They didn’t call MaKenzie, Kenzie. There were two girls in that age group, Mak and a Kenzie. Also rather surprised that they didn’t show the girl who won the 5-up ultimate, since it was a Toddlers and Tiaras alumni. The girl they showed won the 0-5 Ultimate. Alex Howe won the 6-up Ultimate.

@ timgunnssister — I’ve often suspected that they follow far more children per pageant than the two or three they focus on per episode, and then after they see who the winners are, they pick the ones who got the best titles to be the “stars” of that episode. I remember hearing an interview with a documentary film maker who make a movie about… I can’t remember, but it was either a spelling bee or that big scrabble competition — and for that film they had a general idea of who was going to to best and followed a certain number of them, and then whittled the film down to the ones who either had a killer back story or had gone the farthest in the competition.

@ SuburBint that makes sense that they’d follow a bunch of girls and pick the winners as the stars… Or the biggest hot messes

Hello Everyone — great recap, as usual. I have a question for all of the T&T vets on this board. I just started watching the show less than a year ago, so don’t really understand how it all works .

How is it that they know to follow the few girls that win? I mean, I know they don’t always win the Ultimate or whatever it’s called (this week it was a little girl not featured), but they always do win something, Mini Supreme, Novice Supreme, etc. Do they win because they’re on the show, or does the show tape a bunch of kids and then just air those who win? Thanks.

Now, to this show: Tori and Amiya look so much alike I could not tell them apart. They both seem to be a bit short in the gene pool. Something about their eyes that make them look rather inbred or something.

Tori’s mom is just mean. I also did not understand why she went around whispering to anyone who would listen about how much she hated Tori’s hair (which was as nasty as her mom’s soul) instead of just telling the damn hairdresser she didn’t like it. Passive/aggressive much?

Two words for Amiya’s mom, Laura: Low carb.

Was it Amiya’s dress that broke? I don’t remember. Why did her mom make the situation so much worse by telling her daughter she didn’t know what to do, and couldn’t do anything and that she told her to stand still and on and on. Isn’t it a parent’s job to try to CALM their children in times of crisis instead of piling stress on them? One of many parenting fails on this show.

And speaking of parenting fails: You know the way that Jasmine is being raised? That’s how we get lovely celebs like Naomi Campbell.

The show was great as well as the mini recap – Thanks Crabby! T&T only follows 2-3 girls per episode. The parents have to submit a form for them to be followed. Then T&T chooses 3 and goes to their home 2-3 days to film them in their home town. The kids that are followed doesn’t always win a higher title. I have seen a few that came home with the princess title. These are glitz pageants and along with that comes the hair, makeup, flippers and spray tans. These parents have to be prepared if they want themselves and their kids exposed to any kind of publicity (positive or negative). Dane Dane is an excellent Hair and Makeup artist and it looks like Tori’s mother, Ali, should have had a decent hair peice for her to work with. Maybe she should have spent more on her fall than on her dress, since she thinks expensive dresses is for ugly kids. She has got to be the rudest mother yet, maybe she should look in the mirror herself.
As for Jasmine, she is at the stage where she may have an attitude. I think her mother needs to get her $1600 back from Randy Davis for sending her the dress that wasn’t able to be worn.
The Director Tonya is one of my favorites. We always look forward to seeing what she comes up with next.
Looking forward to all your recaps Crabby!!

@ZipLock, see #15 – I think that covers how girls win on the show (although I have seen a show where no one won supreme…). That’s what I thought too…

@Tonya – someone else thought you were high, I thought you were just maybe star-struck! I know we should connect…I just worry that some parent will find out who I am, my photo will end up on everyone’s FB as the bitch to watch out for, and I will be stalked by angry parents known as the “Calamari Crazies.” I’m sure more than one gun has been shined over my comments!

@everyone who explained the Dane-Dane stuff…I remember her doing okay work previously, but I can see how having the hair too clean/conditioned would ruin it…I know my hair always has more body on the weekends when I don’t shower or change out of my PJs until Monday morning. I wasn’t sure if it was a fall or not – I’ll watch more closely when I recap. It did make it easy to blame someone else for the loss, though, you are all correct on that one.

    @Gwen – I only see it on Weds. too…bummer!

    Thanks for commenting everyone!

The recap for this episode is going to be off the charts – - so much to snark on!

The first at home interview is usually the tall tale on how the show is going to go. Ali was unlikeable from the get go with her “the uglier the kid the more poofy/sparkly the dress has to be” comment. She should blame herself for the hair fiasco as there is an art to hair rolling 101 and prep and it was obvious that Ali never enrolled in the class. The h/m artists always style the hair piece the night before and ask how the Mom wants it so you don’t have any issues the day of the pageant. Let me just say that the hair piece was not prepped correctly and you could see the frizziness before it was even placed on the girls head. The style was good but the condition of the hair was not and yes that plays a huge part in how your hair is going to roll. We have used Dane Dane several times and have never had any issues. She is always professional and does a great job. Jasmine and Amiya did good but nothing really stood out for me. T&T does select 3 girls to follow exclusively and will show from time to time previous T&T competitors – - but notice how they never interview them. We see Makenzie a lot because she has a contract with Authentic/TLC and has to make a certain number of T&T appearances.

Hello all!! Crabby you are right I am trolling away and love it! Not here to take up for myself I believe everyone is entitled to their opinion, just like me! Just want to say there was actully not a lot of editing, only parts they really made look diff was that I was there when hair was done for beauty, I was not, Dane didn’t answer calls from T&T cause she don’t have too she is Dane so they nor I knew how to plan interviews around her, so I was there for make up which I might add was great! If u watch it back it shows me on the bed right beside me is Tori’s hair piece last I seen it! They made it look like I dropped it off looking the way it did when she put it on her head, big negative that was it after she fixed it! It was and always has been taken care of properly it was rolled perfect always is! Never said Dane isn’t capable of good work she is, I said she screwed me on purpose the reason I know this is because that was not her normal work and she was mad because I bitched to her night before because she wld not answer calls! Don’t believe I know how to roll or take care of a hair piece look me up on FB Ali Clayton ck out other stage shots or join in on the bashing I cld care less! Actually loving the attention! Amiya and tori don’t really favor to me but I think they are both beautiful!! They did not show my whole statement but I won’t get into that but I stand by what I say some kids are ugly, if u hard saying u have never called a kid ugly then you are a lying bitch! I’m honest get over it! Yes you all might think I’m ugly maybe I am has nothing to do with my statement. Crabby I have to say I was kind of disappointed u didn’t back me I really thought u would love to finally see a real pageant mom for once, either way I know u make your money by making fun of ppl and I enjoy it! When Tori’s mom was going on about ugly girls needing fancy dresses I expected Tori’s dress to be low-key, however, that glitzed out blue thing was pretty over the top. Why spend the money on the big dress if your daughter can win without it? That dress was a hot mess and even I didn’t blame the kid for not wanting to wear it. Those arm ruffle things were gross. I liked the float for OOC but didn’t get the Michael Jackson angle. If I were a judge I would have taken off points for it, since it really didn’t have anything to do with Mardi Gras. As for the hair, why not ask for the money back? I sure as hell would have.

Amira (or however you spell her name) is cute but her eyes are too far apart.

MaKenzie is looking pretty rough, I must say, and also seems to be packing on some pounds. Poor child. She’s not going to age well!

Jasmine was annoying and is most likely going to get clocked when she gets older! Her flat affect and dead eyes in the TH sections were frightening!

Forgot to add…I couldn’t help but notice in the early segments that most of Jasmine’s crowns were small, so I’m not sure she’s quite the superstar she believes she is. She looked great at crowning but that cupcake dress looked silly with those long legs. I was surprised they didn’t bleep out the name of the lady who did the first dress – slandering people on national television usually is not well received.

Also…WHAT was with that one judge and the bulging eyes? When the camera zoned in on her watching the girls she looked like she was in a trance.

I hate the new habit of showing the judges discussing the girls – it’s all so obviously scripted. Just once I’d love to hear a judge say what they really think, because you know they want to!

Still, in a bid for attention, she sadly misses das Boot.

Not about attention really, just love talking about what really happens and what is portrayed, also I have read DC for along time and taken part in these convo’s for along time, I just usually post under a fake name, but this time I decided I should come out as me! I dont have to post here to get attention i am getting enough as it is!

Yes, and isn’t that what we have learned these pageants are really all about….the moms getting attention and validation through their kids.

amiiya was the only featured kid this episode who didn’t make me want to smack her (and i actually LIKE kids, as a general statement). she’s also gorgeous, in my opinion, so hopefully she won’t ruin herself by becoming a little diva, which seems to be the goal for most of these kids *cough* i mean for the moms *cough*.

tori was a little brat and i figured she’d be the episode’s resident demon, until jasmine showed up. holy crap; i have never thought “die” so many times after hearing a kid talk, but she was just … a huge, huge bitch. she’ll be a real treat as a teenager, i’m sure.

the REAL terror of this episode, though, was tori’s mother. HATE HER. if i knew this woman i would unhesitatingly tell her to shut the hell up and that i would put a hairpiece the size of montana on HER because SHE is freakin’ ugly, “i’m sorry.” i would normally rather forget her existence forever, but i’m willing to acknowledge it for a bit longer for the sake of the full recap.

Ya know, Ali came here owning up to her crap. At least she knows who she is, unlike some of these mothers who are delusional and claim editing and not owning to a single shitty thing they say. Maybe she does like the attention, but at least she’s not trying to pretend TLC cast her in a bad light on purpose.

I did think it was funny the judges said girls should hire their hair done after seeing Tori’s hair….woosai, you better have asked for your money back cause even Jesus wouldn’t like that jacked up mess.

Oh lets get this party started! This recap may work out better than the last.

Question for Ali: If you know how bad the editing makes moms look, why would you give them so much to work with?

They were actually pretty kind to me!! I said way more harsh things that most would sit on there couches and watch and agree with but would never say!! But they left it out! Cause obviously they hate Dane as much as I do for not answering their calls! I just choose not to be fake, and btw my kid is far from a brat, she is just honest like me! Brat is not a description for her, cause I wld spank her ass and she knows it!! Next??

I don’t think Ali is “getting crazy” or is anywhere nearly as bad on here as the other nutbags who post on here. Seriously. Not that I want to be her friend, but cherryred is pretty much right on.

Ok I watched it now….was expecting a lot more crazy then there actually was in this episode…. All of the kids and mums seemed pretty normal to me (for toddlers and tiaras!). Tonya was probably the craziest person there, haha gotta love Tonya xx

Although I must say, after seeing a child recently be killed as a result of an atv accident I really was not impressed seeing Jasmine driving one. I know it’s part of the culture in a lot of rural southern towns to be into things like hunting and driving quad bikes but my got is it dangerous to let children do these things. A five year old with a gun, as we have seen in past episodes, makes my blood run a little cold.

I wish they followed MaKenzie but it is quite obvious that here mother is less interested in Famewhoring child than a certain woman that exclaimed “O.M.G Edens in Hollywood” *rolls eyes*. So maybe they declined?

I am sick to death of people using “I am just being honest” as an excuse to be rude. Knock it off, and stop teaching your impressionable child that it’s okay. Are “difficult to love and to live with” and “rotten” how you want tori described as an adult? You may be permanently incorrigible, ali, but tori isn’t. Yet. Tori is a cute kid, and having seen her before on stage, I will agree that she normally looks much better than she did on this episode. As a consumer of Dane’s service, though, it was up to you to ask her to fix it, or demand a refund. It might also just be time for a new hairpiece.

The “just being honest” excuse is a reality TV thing. I really haven’t heard anyone call someone else a “crash of cunty rhinoceros” lately and then claim they were “just being honest” outside of reality TV shows.

It’s like bidets. How much bidet shenanigans have you encountered lately? I’ve never even SEEN one in life. But on reality shows, you KNOW one’s going to turn up, and some numb fuck is going to drink out of it or wash their face in it.

Here’s the truth about Toddlers & Tiaras: The producers ask the pageant director if the kids they are following can win an overall title. I know both a director and one of the kids they were following, and they asked the director to let one of the 3 kids they were following win. In that particular episode, the director declined to make that decision, and that was final. The child being followed was Jaclyn, and she did not win an overall. She only came in as princess or queen of the group (I can’t remember her title for sure). I don’t know about other directors decide to do. Maybe the kid just happens to win.

Many many times, the kids being followed do not pull a high title. One of the pageants last season (featured madi and her “grandma” shtick, the “chronically late” (who really wasn’t) adrianna, and the unfortunately named and diet-obsessed Ever Rose)– was a pageant we attended. Madi did win, but she really deserved it. Girlfriend ROCKED. Ever Rose’s “title” was one of those extras you pay to enter, and Adrianna got princess. It’s definitely true (particularly at Tonya’s pageants– she’s known for being fair) that if tori got mini with the hot mess hair she had going on, the judges must have really loved everything else about her. Of course, the are not judged on their parents’ behaviour, nor their command of the English language.

First, if your fall looks like a dead squirrel before you put it on the child’s head then it will still look like a dead squirrel when it’s finished. You cannot come on here and say you are being “honest” and not reveal the process of taking care of a fall to outsiders that are not used to the pageant world. A fall must be washed, conditioned, hair sprayed, and rolled. I could tell just by watching that show that process had not been followed. So I am confused how you can blame a h/m artist for your lack of being responsible. Also, your daughter won the third highest title in the pageant, but you are complaining. You are a very rude person who needs lessons in manners.

If ‘Dane Dane’ is supposed to be such a pro, why did she let the girl leave with crazy bad hair? That’s not a pro move. Why didn’t she hand the fall back and tell the mom it was such a piece of crap? Why didn’t she do her in real hair or pin up the fall into an updo? We’ve seen that in other episodes and you can too curl a synthetic fall with damp wire brush and low heat curling iron. Could it be that the child was such a brat or the parents were so nuts that Dane wanted her out of the room asap or? tjis was rigged against the kid cause the mom was such a unlikeable whackjob?? You are not selling me this whooey. Seems to me that they would work this out beforehand and Dane should have called this chick and told her to bring over her fall the night before so she could have started working on it. I know if I was doing hair for a bunch of squirrely kids I would have those falls all lined up the night before ready to pin on their heads the morning.

They do ask for the falls the night before but they cannot make the parents bring them. Also I guarantee if she had asked Ali to let her just pin her hair back that mom would have thrown a hissy fit. She probably did the best she could with what she was given in the circumstance.
