Curtis Stone(ColdFox) is back as the host. I’m warning you, I have a major thing for this dude. I really want him to wrestle a croc or throw some shrimp on the barbi. Sorry, bad Australian stereotypes. James Oseland and Ruth Reichl are back as judges. We are in Sin City and quickly see that gambling will be the theme of this season. At least they went with something unexpected.
Look out! Hot Stuff coming through
This season 12 world-renowned chefs are competing with each other to win $100,000 for the charity of their choice. Usual deal, every week there will be two challenges- a Quick Fire in which the contestant can win $5,000 for their charity, and the Elimination Challenge in which the winner gets $10,000 for their charity, and the loser gets sent packing.
Let’s start with who is competing. I’m sorry, I’m sure all of these chefs are AMAZING, but most of them I’ve never heard of and I am a chef who follows chefs. (Not literally, I don’t actually STALK any chefs… although I did when I was trying to get an internship, for sure: Chef Bill Taibe, I’m looking at you. Thanks for blowing me off.) So I look forward to getting to know these chefs and see what they are all about.
Sorry, I left the rest of me in my other pants
I DO know Art Smith, however, I’d like to know what happened to the REST of him??? When big guys lose a lot of weight, sometimes they just don’t look right (Drew Carey, for example), but Chef Smith looks great!!
Also back Thierry Rautureau, master of French Comfort Food (which is redundant as French food is all butter and cream). He was ousted early on the last season of TCM, so he is back for revenge. Or to win money for his charity… but revenge sounds more exciting. Plus French revernge sounds super dramatic.
Other chefs (and their specialty) in the contest are:
Missy Robbins- Italian Food
Kerry Heffernan- The Fish Guy
Thierry Rautureau- French Comfort Food
Patricia Yeo- Asian Fusion
Takashi Yagihasi- Japanese Comfort Food
Art Smith- Southern Comfort Food
Sue Torres- Mexican Food
Debbie Gold- Seasonal Foods/ classic preparation
Lorena Garcia- Latin & Asian Inspired Food
Chris Consentino- Rustic italian
Then there is these two guys:
Mark Gaier- Sustainable Food
Clark Frasier- Sustainable Food
Brother Lovers, err, Lovers who could be Brothers
As Art Smith said “At first I thought they were brothers, turns out they are lovers!!” Mark and Clark are longtime partners who run a sustainable food restaurant and farm. Honestly, Clark seems Gaier than Mark. Just saying. No hate mail, I love my gays. Frankly, it’s the only thing that gets me through the day sometimes.
