Bravo orders a third helping of ‘Top Chef’

PadmaLakshmi.jpgSalman Rushdie’s trophy wife, the bescarred model and cookbook writer Padma Lakshmi, and her edgy gang have made quite an impression in Bravo’s kitchen warrior contest series. Top Chef has won itself a third season even before they’ve put a fork in the second.

Bravo’s very bullish on the Project Runway for the kitchen. They say ratings are up 56 percent from the first season and they’re calling Chef the top-rated food show on cable.

Take that, Rachael and Paula!The network will hold casting calls for Season Three in Dallas, Las Vegas, Miami, New York and San Francisco. Would-be cooking contestants can poke around here.

Top Chef 2 returns tomorrow night with a 70-minute episode featuring Queer Eye‘s Ted Allen, chef Robert Ivan and Debi Mazar from Entourage.

    At least Padma is not as wooden as Mrs. William Joel.

    Someone please help Padma put on correct outfits. The “cook for surfers” challenge was awful.

    Just make it easy on us all and go nude already.
