Well, it’s finally here, Election Day! Tomorrow, life begins anew. Our TV screens will no longer be assaulted with political ads, but instead, be replaced by oven-roasted turkeys & how many shopping days are left in the holiday season. Thank you DVRs & your ‘fast forward’. What would I ever do without you. I think I’ve found some pleasant alternatives to the “Election Night” coverage. Take the jump and see……
ELECTION NIGHT COVERAGE:
MSNBC starts it’s coverage at 5pm.
FOX NEWS & CNN begin their night at 6pm.
These two networks will be busy analyzing all those ‘exit polls’ for a winner. If anyone asks you who you voted for, when you’re leaving, just tell’ em you only stopped to use the restroom. That’ll screw up their polls.
All other major networks start coverage at 7pm. They each have their own “title” for the night:
CBS: “Campaign ’08 Election Night”
NBC: “NBC Election Night Special”
ABC: “VOTE 2008″
FOX: You Decide 2008: Election Special”
CNN: “Election Night in America”
FOXNews: “America’s Election HQ: Election Night”
CNBC: “Your Money, Your Vote: Decision 2008″
COMEDY CENTRAL starts their coverage at 10pm. “INDECISION 2008″ is in full swing all day on the website & “Stewart & Colbert’s Election Night Special” at 10pm is the BEST election coverage of them all. (making “SNL’s lame political comedy look just that, LAME.)
If you are like me & are sick to death of all this political bullshit and just want to watch some TV, I’ve found a few networks airing other things. I’m sure they will all have that ‘crawl-line’ running sporatically across the bottom of our screens so we don’t miss out on a winner. Here’s what I found:
REALTV:
“Gimme My Reality Show” repeats it’s series, starting at 6pm tonight. The Finale airs at 9pm. Viewers voted on which celebrity should get their own show and we find out tonight. This was a unique twist on ‘reality’ and I enjoyed it.
CW:
“90210″ at 8pm. (new)
“Privileged” at 9pm. (new)
A&E:
“First 48″ at 8 & 9pm. If you’ve never watched this show before, it follows detectives for the first 2 days of a crime investigation. It often shows how easy some people get away.
“Rookies” at 10 & 10:30pm. (both new)
APL:
“Weird, True & Freaky” at 8 & 8:30pm. (both new)
“Untamed & Uncut” at 9pm. (new)
“Living with the Wolfman” at 10:30pm. (new)
BRAVO:
“Real Housewives of Atlanta” at 8 & 9pm. (both repeats) Now would be a good time to catch up on this show. Everyone is loving it! I may have to take my own advice. I just have a hard time watching bored, upper-class women entertain themselves.
“Real Housewives of Atlanta” at 10pm. (NEW)
DSC:
“Dirty Jobs” at 8, 9 & 10pm. New episode at 9pm.
MTV:
“My Super Sweet 16″ at 8pm.
“The Hills” at 8:30pm.
“Paris Hilton’s My New BFF” at 9pm. (repeat)
“Paris Hilton’s My New BFF” at 10pm. (new)
NGC is airing “National Geographic’s ‘Most Amazing Moments’ at 8pm.
TVLand has “3rd Rock From the Sun” from 9pm till Midnight.
OXYGEN is airing “Coolio’s Rules” starting at 8pm with a new episode at 10pm. I caught an episode of this show over the weekend. I thought it was, not only entertaining, but ‘real’, more so than most ‘families being followed by cameras’ shows.
SciFi:
“Scare Tactics”at 8 & 8:30pm. (repeats)
“ECW” at 9pm. Wrestling at it’s best!
“Scare Tactics” at 10 & 10:30pm. (new)
FX:
“The Green Mile” at 6:30pm. Stephen King movie staring Tom Hanks.
“The Shield” at 10pm. (new)
truTV: “Disorder in the Court” starting at 8pm. It’s a countdown of the “20 most memorable moments from high-profile trials. (I smell OJ!)
TBS has “Frank TV” at 11pm.
ShowTime is re-airing it’s premiere episode of “Brotherhood” at 9pm followed by “Dexter” at 10pm. (repeat too)
WE: “Sex Change Hospital” at 11pm. (new) Where have I been?
There are a few notable movies:
HBO2: “The Departed” at 8pm. (the best)
HBO: “27 Dresses” at 9pm.
AMC: “Rocky II” at 8pm.
ENCORE: “Ghost Rider” at 8pm.
STARZ: “SuperBad” at 9pm.
Don’t forget to vote!!!

I voted already. I think I’ll sleep for a week and then hopefully it’ll all be over with. If I do turn on the tv I’ll watch one of the wonderful movies you have listed.
