Honoring a Genius.
George Carlin: The Mark Twain Prize airs tonight at 9pm on PBS. This is the 11th Mark Twain Prize for American Humor & the first given posthumously to the late George Carlin, who died last June 22, 08. He found out about the honor one week before his death & was quite pleased. The event was held at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts & here is a list of some of those on hand to honor the late comedic icon. Bill Maher, Denis Leary, Garry Shandling, Joan Rivers, Jon Stewart, Lewis Black, Lily Tomlin, Margaret Cho & Richard Belzer. See what else is on tonight after the jump…….
CBS is prepping us for the 51st Annual Grammy Awards with the special, Katie Couric: ‘All-Access’ Grammy Special at 9pm. Katie will interview Justin Timberlake, Lil Wayne, Katy Perry & Taylor Swift. Miss Perry informs us that her mom used to date the late hard-rock guitarist, Jimi Hendrix & her dad was a pal of acid-loving Timothy Leary. This was all before dad found religion, of course. Acid does that to ya. Also appearing on the show will be Metallica, the Jonas Brothers (eeeeeeeee!!!), Rascal Flatts & T-Pain.
…… just keep blurting out those family secrets…….
ABC has LOST at 9pm. This episode is called “The Little Prince” & is definitely a Kate episode. It’s all about the people out to get baby Aaron. I’m not crazy about Kate & Jack, but I’m hoping we get closer to the 6 (with dead Locke & Ben, oh & don’t forget Desmond. Oh crap, I forgot, Hurley’s in the slammer… damn!) going back to the island to save everybody. Sawyer, on the other hand, is walking around the island, not believing any of it.
“Looks like you’re gonna lay here another week, Ginger.”
A new episode of Life on Mars, follows LOST at 10pm. I have a legitimate bitch about this show. I was really getting into the storyline back in November. They led us down a path with Sam reliving the most tramatic moment in his life. It was so heartfelt, but then it took a total about-face & turned ugly. I was glued to the set…… and now? Nothing! It’s like it never happened. WTF? I was stunned when last week’s show never even hinted at what happened. Does ABC think we’re idiots & won’t remember? I was really liking this show & I will watch it for awhile longer in the hope that this storyline, with his murderous dad & the ‘phonecall’, will be resolved or at least continued. Does anyone else agree?
FOX has American Idol at 8pm. It’s round #2 of the Hollywood eliminations. Maybe we’ll see our future “Idol” tonight, because we sure haven’t seen a hint of who it might be yet.
Lie To Me follows at 9pm. The Lightman Group has two cases to deal with tonight, one involving the murder of a federal judge’s teenage daughter. Case #2 is all about a NASA test pilot & whether or not he’s lying about crashing a plane on purpose. I bet he’s lying. This show is directly up against my beloved LOST, but I must be honest & admit that so far, it’s been pretty good. After week #2, it’s still ahead in the ratings too, but I blame that on the American Idol lead-in. I’m sticking with that thought too!
” With “Idol” doing all the work, I can just sit here & watch LOST.
Just in case anyone wants to watch NBC, there are new episodes of Knight Rider at 8pm. Life airs at 9pm & Law & Order is on at 10pm. L&O is one of NBC’s shows that gets good ratings.
The CW has repeats of Privileged at 8pm & 90210 at 9pm.
We have a new series on A&E debuting tonight at 10:30pm, following two new episodes of Dog the Bounty Hunter at 9:30 & 10pm. This new series is called The Exterminators and showcases the family exterminating business in the swamp-like state of Louisiana. “Vexcon” is run by Billy Bretherton, an ex-US Air Force sergeant, who uses a military approach to handle all types of animal removal. He is accompanied by his dad, Bill Sr, brother Rick, who’s as crazy as he is, sassy mom Donnie, who runs the office & Billy’s wife Mary. From the looks of this guy & his family, this show could become a hit!
These shows have all-new episodes tonight.
FX has Damages at 10pm. Patty doesn’t like Ellen & wants to know why she’s back.
MTV is airing Real World: Brooklyn at 10pm. JD, pulling a prank on Ryan, bombs. Check out Flipit’s latest recap. It’s spot-on. You’d think he was living with these clowns!
SCIFI has Ghosthunters International at 9pm. A trip to a haunted castle in Denmark.
TRAVEL’s got Man v. Food at 10pm. Adam takes the “Great Balls of Fire” challenge at Salvadore Molly’s in Portland, Oregon. If he can eat 5 habenero cheese fritters covered in it’s own habenero sauce, his name will go up on the honorary “Wall of Flame”.
BRAVO has Top Chef at 10pm. Our cheftestants are working in the fancy NYC restaurant, the Le Bernardin. Chef Eric Ripert is the guest judge.
Ok kids, I’m done for another day. Don’t forget to check out my ratings article. See if your favorite show made the “Top Twenty”. I’m off to set my DVR for a full night.
