FOX’s New Fall Schedule

Fox’s has released it’s new fall schedule & not much has changed. They are sticking with their true winners, although somehow ‘Til Death is still on the air. I swear, Brad Garrett must be a major stockholder. There can be no other explaination, unless he’s really sucking some d*ck kissing some ass. More after the jump……

Wanda Sykes is throwing her hat into the late-night ring over on FOX with her own version of a talk show. She’s only on Saturday nights at 11pm, but I’m hoping she surprises all those others, kicks their asses & becomes the #1 late-night show on TV! Well, that probably won’t happen, but I’m confident that she’ll be better than Saturday Night Live.

Past Life is a new drama/mystery show starring Kelli Giddish (All My Children) as a psychologist who use regression therapy and reincarnation theory to solve mysteries from clients’ pasts. It will air on Tuesday nights after American Idol on the midseason schedule.

Mark Valley (formerly from “Fringe”) has a new show, Human Target, airing on Wednesday nights at 8pm. It’s based on the DC Comics of the same name. I have had a crush on this guy ever since I saw him chop off that priest’s fingers on Boston Legal. I’ll watch anything he’s in. This is also a midseason show following American Idol.

Brothers is a new comedy with Michael Strahan (NFL Sunday) playing a former pro football player who moves back in with his mom. The comedy comes when his brother, Chill Mitchell, moves in too. This will air on Friday nights at 8pm, followed by ‘Til Death. FOX is returning Dollhouse to it’s Friday night time slot. Nobody’s going to watch ‘Til Death, so there is absolutely no lead-in audience to watch Echo & Victor! I was hoping it would get a better day & time, but I’m grateful it’s still on.

A ‘quirky” new comedy, Sons of Tucson, is about a guy hired by three boys to pose as their pop while the real dad is in prison. It will star Tyler Labine formerly of Reaper on the CW. It will be a midseason show as well. It’s from producer Todd Holland of “Malcohm in the Middle” fame & will be sandwiched in amongst the animated shows on Sundays during the midseason shuffle.

Of course there is also a new cartoon for the Sunday night “animated” block. The Cleveland Show is a spin-off of The Family Guy. I can only hope that this one will be funny. (I don’t find the family dog sleeping with the wife funny). I’m just not a fan of Seth MacFarland & find his current Family Guy gets worse every week. Just my opinion though. Maybe Cleveland will prove me wrong.

And then there’s Glee which, ironically, premieres tonight after American Idol at 9pm. It will not return until this fall. FOX is cashing in on the popularity of High School Musical with this musical-comedy-drama.The story revolves around Will Schuester (Matthew Morrison), a young Spanish teacher at McKinley High, with an ambitious, crafts-addicted wife (Jessalyn Gilsig) & a dream: to revive & run the Glee Club. (thus the name). Sounds too good to be good, if you know what I mean. Reviews are good, but that doesn’t mean much. It has a great lead-in following Idol. Let me know what you think.

That’s the latest. The midseason shows are real ‘iffy’ as usual. Networks are quick to jump ship if something better comes along. Remember, FOX is ready to snap up My Name is Earl if NBC decides to ditch it. All the networks are suppose to “reveal” their schedules this week so I or Nads will let you know as soon as we know.
