The ACM Awards…. “Country Fashions?”

I’m not a C&W music lover but I tuned in to watch last night because they pre-empted The Amazing Race to air The 45th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards. I was showing my solidarity for Team Cowboys……

The fashion was very bland… so bland that I was a bit disappointed. I wanted to see big hair, glittering rhinestones & embroidered jackets. The men were a mess & most toted cowboy hats & that’s as it should be. Only old-timer Randy Travis showed “Country Class” with his embroidered tuxedo.

The couple were so cute all spiffed up on their fancy “going to the awards” clothes.

It looks like LeAnne Rimes cut the cheese & tried to blame it on her BF. John Rich looks prettier than Gretchen Wilson, who looks like a biker chick. Faith Hill’s armpits seem to have melted down to her waist. More room for her flabby underarms I guess.

Let’s move on to the ladies. I wish I could have gotten pictures of Reba’s many dress changes. She wore some great gowns. The best was her final dress of the evening. It was a satiny, shiny, kelly-green evening dress with a halter strap top. It reminded me of the dress Kathy Griffen wore to the Oscars. Red hair & green dresses just seem to work. Carrie Underwood did a number of dress changes during the course of the evening too. When she sang “Temporary Home” in this huge-skirted flower gown, I thought it was Easter. Taylor Swift went home with nothing this year, but I’m sure she’ll get a nod later on in the awards season. There are about ten more country awards shows yet to air. She did get a little showy when she sang her song “Change”, ripping off her dress at one point & diving into the crowd, mosh-style. She had black pants on underneath. It was totally lame tho. You could tell it was a set-up!!! Laura Bell Bundy, on the other hand, was awesome in her brown leather chaps & midriff-showing top as she danced & sang to “Giddy On Up”.

So there ya have it. My roll on the ACM night. The show itself was very entertaining. There was lots of singing & very little acceptance speeches. Reba kept a tight reins on the evening. The best part of all was Brad Paisley singing “Water” & he and his fiddler dude go into the audience to perform. At the end, Paisley hands his blue guitar over to a fan & I’m thinking”Wow.. how awesome is that… to get to keep Brad’s guitar..” & then “SPLASH!”, he does a back-flop into a pool of water… with his cowboy hat on! Team Cowboy would be proud.

Oh crap… I forgot to show you Reba’s dress….
