Tonight’s the night!

After-American-Idol-Its-Time-For-Vietnam-Idol 14

This is the night millions of Americans have been waiting for. It’s American Idol 8 starting at 8pm tonight on FOX. Kara DioGuardi joins Randy, Paula & Simon as the new judge in town. Her place will be between Randy & Paula, with Simon on the end. There are a few changes this season. They are bringing back the “wild card”. This way a singer can be voted back in by the judges. (this is how Clay Akin got back in). There will also be one less audition week. The number of semi-finalists, which used to be 24, has changed to 3 groups of 12, who will sing for the following 3 weeks until they are down to the final 12. There will be NO “Idol Gives Back” this season either. It may not come back till 2012. Alot of people are liking this idea. The team is spending an extra week in Hollywood & in the next 2 weeks will be going to Puerto Rico for auditions. As for this week, they are visiting Phoenix & Kansas City. Check here at TVGasm for all your “American Idol” recaps & news. We have a great season planned for you, so check us out!

There is one NEW series premiere tonight on the FOODNetwork. Chopped aires at 10pm. This cooking competition has Ted Allen as the host & there will be 4 chefs competing for $10,000. They must make a 3-course gourmet meal out of everyday food items. Tonight’s items are octopus, duck & animal crackers. (I cook that shit all the time). A panel of experts will determine the winner after 3-rounds.

Once again, the networks all have NEW episodes tonight. I’ll be curious to see how CBS’ top shows hold up against the American Idol premiere.

ABC:

“Homeland SecurityUSA” at 8pm focuses on Detroit, where a Tennessee man is questioned about the head in his backpack.

“Scrubs” at 9 & 9:30pm. I watched last week & this show needs to keep Courtney Cox. She was great & made this tired show funny again.

“Primetime: “What Would You Do?” at 10pm. We get to see what people do when they witness a guy stealing gas from another customer who’s inside the store. We also get to see a woman with a loaded shopping cart trying to cut-in line at the express check-out & another woman succeed at cutting-in & then become the store’s prize-winning customer. This show is better than Howie’s or Ashton’s!

CBS:

“NCIS” at 8pm.

“The Mentalist” at 9pm.

“Without a Trace” at 10pm/

NBC:

“Biggest Losers: Couples” at 8pm.

“Law & Order: SVU” at 10pm.

CW:

“90210″ at 8pm.

“Privileged” at 9pm.

BRAVO has a NEW “Real Housewives of Orange County” at 10pm. Gretchen’s had enough of caring for her boyfriend. Lynne & her hubby don’t know how to act without being drunk on wine. Vicki goes to Chicago to fight with her mother & Tamra has a dinner party planned with lots of tequila.

DSC has an all-NEW “Dirty Jobs” at 9pm. Mike Rowe has to seal off an abandoned mine shaft in N. California. Sounds like a “dyno-mite” job to me! The NEW show “Wreckreation Nation” at 10pm focuses on a tug-of-war between Iowa & Illinois which spans the Mississippi River.

E! has a NEW “Party Monsters: Cabo” at 8pm. Missy Elliott has planned an inauguration party to celebrate the swearing in of our new President Barack Obama.

New episode of “Nip/Tuck” at 10pm.

MTV has a NEW “Double Shot at Love” at 10pm. It’s time to meet the families of these last four mutant human skanks & skankettes. We’ll get to see what two species actually mated to get these hybrids.

Oxygen is competing for top skanktom with a NEW “Bad Girl’s Club: 3″ at 10pm. Kayla & Amber M. have a real bitch-slap fight & one of them might get penalized. How do you penalize a whore? Take their booze away? Make ‘em pay for the room? Anyhow, Whitney has a melt-down when a friend dies.

TNT has a NEW Leverage” at 10pm. The thieves pretend to be wedding planners for a mobster, but find out a Russian spy is trying to kill the guy.

That’s it kids. Will American Idol knock CBS’ shows down the ratings ladder tonight?

LOST Countdown……… 8 Days!!!

Personally, I plan on watching the first hour of American Idol, and then flipping over to “The Mentalist”. I wouldn’t be surprised if others ended up doing the same. 2 hours of auditions is a bit much…
