“JOEL McHALE!”
This is the biggest night of prime-time premieres so far this season. It’s going to be hard to decide just what to watch. Here’s what our choices are…..NBC has a full line-up tonight, starting with last year’s highly successful, Saturday Night Live Weekend Update Thursday at 8pm. I don’t know about you, but running clips from old SNL shows, is not what I want to watch in primetime. The only reason it was even relevant last year was because it was election time. Makes me shake my head.
Parks & Recreation begins it’s 2nd season at 8:30pm, with Leslie (Amy Poehler) trying to promote the zoo by having a wedding for two penguins. The trouble begins when both penguins are boys. I’m a fan of this show & this just made me laugh & I haven’t even seen it yet.
The Office, at 9pm, starts it’s 6th season gossiping. Michael feels the need to spread some rumors of his own. I’ve never watched this show, so I’ll leave it up to you to decide if it’s worth a look.
The premiere of Community, at 9:30pm, with Joel McHale & Chevy Chase going back to community college, is either going to be a huge hit or fall flat. I’m hoping huge hit. It & The Office will be up against CBS’s CSI, ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy, & FOX’s Fringe. That is some serious competition.
The Jay Leno Show rounds out the night at 10pm. His guest tonight is Halle Berry. (Does she have a movie coming out?) Music is Bruce Hornsby & the Noisemakers with Eric Clapton.
“Goin’ to the chapel and we’re gonna get maaarried…”
Of course, CBS has the premiere of the 19th season of Survivor: Samoa at 8pm. This time around there are 20 castaways & they get right down to business. There are two tribes, Galu & Foa Foa. The first thing is, without speaking to one another, each team must pick a chief, who will make all the decisions for their tribe. This new twist is sure to create some fights. Jeff Probst is back as host & I’m sure his sardonic jabs will be the highlight of tribal counsel once again.
Wait’ll they all get chiggers!
FOX has the 5th season premiere of Bones at 8pm. Cindi Lauper appears as Angela’s psychic, hired to help find 12 bodies. She’s not finding them, but she sees bodies under a fountain in Washington D.C. Maybe some of Cheney’s hunting buddies?
Fringe begins it’s 2nd season “A New Dog in the Old Town” at 9pm. J.J. Abrams says that the first year was about learning there is an enemy & this year is about knowing the enemy & building up to a confrontation. Olivia goes home tonight, with an entity that’s stalking her. I’m excited to have this show back. I really need a scifi fix.
Looks like my birthday party!
The CW has a new episode of Vampire Diaries at 8pm. This show had the highest ratings ever for a new show on the CW last week, garnering 2.78 million viewers, putting it at #26 in the Nielson ratings. Not bad for a Twilight clone.
Supernatural is all new at 9pm. It kinda borrows on the True Blood theme tonight, when the folks in a small town are put under a spell, making them think they are murderous demons. Like TB, it’s up to our 2 heroes to save the town.
“We’re hunting wabbits demons!”
If you’re wondering about ABC, it’s showing repeats of Grey’s Anatomy & Private Practice tonight.
VH1 is bringing it on tonight with DIVAS!, LIVE at 9pm. They’ve got Paula Abdul to host this huge night of women & music. She’s perfect! I love the promos for tonight’s show, with her fighting with Ryan Seacrest for the hosting spot.
“They’re letting me on LIVE TV!
The DIVA list is long. There are so many female performers, it’s like a smorgasbord of talent. The honoreees are Adele, Kelly Clarkson, Miley Cyrus, Jennifer Hudson & Britain’s Leona Lewis. Performances by Sheryl Crowe, Melissa Ethridge, Jordan Sparks, Cyndi Lauper, & Martina McBride will make this “must see TV”. That’s not all, presenters are Toni Braxton, Lauren Conrad, Kathy Griffen, & Whitney Port. The only guy I see on the list is super-hottie, Ryan Kwanten (Jason from “True Blood”)! All proceeds go to VH1′s “Save the Music” Foundation. I’m definitely watching this.
DIVA Inductees: Adele, Kelly Clarkson, Leona Lewis & Miley Cyrus
The final season premiere for the night is “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia!” on FX, at 10pm. It’s their 5th season & the comedy is just as fresh, if not better, than it’s first year. In a topical episode, Mac & Dennis try to make some money in real estate. Dee is busy trying to make some money by being a surrogate mother for rich people. How can you not laugh at Danny DeVito.
Lifetime has a new episode of Project Runway at 10pm. The designers have to make clothes out of newspaper. I can’t wait to see this! I love these odd-ball challenges. I wonder if they’ll use homeless people as models? There are 2 guest judges tonight, that skank, Eva Longoria & Tommy Hilfiger. I wonder who called in sick?
BRAVO has a new Real Housewives of Atlanta at 10pm & TLC has a new Policewomen of Broward County at 9pm.
I think I’ve covered all the good stuff for the evening. My “Pick of the Night” is another tuffy. I’m going to have to go with DIVAS on VH1. I just can’t resist all this “woman power” & Paula Abdul LIVE is sure to be awesome! I will DVR everything else.

If you like it, spread it!:

Always Sunnys is awesomely funny, but Danny DeVito is the least funny member of the cast IMHO.
Can’t wait for the NBC shows tonight! FINALLY!
Don’t talk to me about chiggers…I’m covered in bites from the last couple of days.
Parks and Recreation is a pretty good show — I’m hoping Poehler develops her character more, because she’s leaning a little too heavily on the Michael Scott character in The Office.
And Chooch, if you’ve never watched The Office, you’ve missed some of the best comedy ever. You’ll need to start with Season One though. But this show is one of the rare ones that just keeps getting better. Can’t wait for the new season.
