The ratings are in and the Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver was the best thing to ever happen to NBC. Check out the ratings….
An overtime win brings the gold to the home team!
Even though the hockey game between Team USA & Canada wasn’t in primetime, airing from 3:20pm to 6:13pm to be exact, it was the most watched hockey game in 30 years. 27.6 million people tuned in to watch Canada’s Sidney Crosby beat U.S. Ryan Miller in sudden death overtime with a 3-2 victory. Almost half of Canada’s population, 16.6 million, tuned in to view the game on 9 different networks, becoming the most watched show in Canadian history.

Men of a Certain Age didn’t make the list, but 2.6 million viewers tuned in for it’s season finale. The show, about three friends, each having their own mid-life crisis, has been picked up for another season on TNT. Let’s hope it picks up some more interesting storylines.

I really enjoyed the Olympics this year and the hockey game was the icing,(ahem) on the cake.
I did not, however, enjoy what NBC did with the closing ceremonies. Right in the middle of that campy, schmarmy, all-things-Canadian tribute, BAM, Jerry Seinfeld’s on my TV. Boo.
