The Winning Video!

This SHOULD be the winner of this year’s 2009 MTV VMA Awards, but it’s not even nominated. The nominees after the jump….Sunday nights are always big & tonight is no exception. The main event is the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards, which airs live on MTV AND VH1, at 9pm. Screwball Russell Brand is back as the host & I’m sure he’ll say something offensive before the night’s over, which is just why they brought him back again. Gotta love LIVE TV!

“Try & stop me from giving Britney a bag of Cheetos.”

Of course, there’s a pre-show show at 8pm & we get to see all the outrageous costumes the music industry chooses to wear so they get noticed. This is where publicity is a plus! I just finished watching all the nominees for this year’s “Video of the Year” award & have voted for my favorite. What’s yours?

beyonce-single-ladies-put-a-ring-on-it.jpg
Sasha Fierce’s ” Put a Ring On It”. (SNL did a better job.)
britney-womanizer.jpg
Brit-Brit’s “Womanizer”. (My vote. I’m just glad she’s nominated.)
eminem-we-made-you.jpg
Eminem’s “We Made You.” (How can you NOT love this one.)
Pokerface2.jpg
Lady Gaga’s “Poker Face”. (This just makes me wanna poke her in the face.)
love-lockdown-music-video.jpg
Kanye West’s “Love Lockdown”. (IT SUCKS ASS.)

Expect a “Tribute to Michael Jackson” theme. Sister Janet will open the show with a salute to the King of Pop. Others performing tonight are Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift, Green Day, Beyonce & Pink. Jay-Z is doing a duet with Alicia Keys. Beyonce & Lady Gaga are both in nominations first place with 9 each, but “I’m back” Britney Spears is right behind them with 7 noms. I hope she cleans the floor with those bitches.

Okay, let’s move on to more TV than a DVR can hold!

NBC’s highly-rated Sunday Night Football is back with the season opener, Chicago Bears VS The GreenBay Packers. Kick-off is at 7:30pm. It’s the 177th match-up between these two teams.

Ratings Gold for NBC.

HBO has the season finale of it’s intensely sexy & often gory & even funny, True Blood at 9pm. I’m sure this finale will leave me wondering “WTF?!! I just hope that Maryann is a goner & we get to see Jason naked one more time. He’s kept his clothes on way too much this season, but then, we’ve had Eric get a full make-over & he was a pleasant diversion.

I had this same exact dream!

HBO’s new series Hung has it’s season finale tonight too, at 10pm. It seems like it just got started. I was just getting into this quirky (lol… love that word) comedy about a guy with a big dick & it’s financial advantages. A new episode of Entourage follows at 10:30pm.

AMC’s Mad Men airs at 10pm. Don & Betty have to deal with her father’s death & daughter Sally isn’t taking it very well. I’m told that this show is “very cerebral” at times & maybe that’s why I don’t get all the praise poured upon it, but I still watch, waiting for something to happen.

“Sweetie, you make great cocktails for daddy.”

The series finale of King of the Hill is tonight on FOX at 8 & 8:30pm. Two episodes signal the end of the second-longest running cartoon in primetime. No matter tho, it’s found it’s popularity on the Cartoon Network during it’s “Adult Swim” hours. “I’ll tell you what” has become the new catchphrase. Did anyone else ever want to slap Peggy Hill, or am I the only one?

“Yup”

Drop Dead Diva & Army Wives are both on Lifetime at 9 & 10pm, respectively. Is anyone watching Drop Dead Diva? I have & I fight with myself whether or not I like this show. The courtroom scenes are a plus, but I’m not so sure about “I’m a skinny girl, trapped in a fat body” story. Oh, I like the idea, but the sight gags with her cravings for donuts & sweets is a bit over the top at times…. and she’s not that fat either. She’s more normal than most women we see on TV.

Great job hiding Margaret Cho’s tattoos.

CBS has a ‘clip show’ of Big Brother 11 at 8pm. It’s just filler so the can have their finale on Tuesday night & get better ratings. They can’t compete against NBC’s football game. They will go head to head with NBC’s season premiere of The Biggest Loser then.
There Goes the Neighborhood follows at 9pm, with it’s series finale. After all the challenges & the final two families face-off against each other, the winning family throws a BBQ party for everyone. At a neighborhood election, all the neighbors, from every age, cast a single ballot to determine which family will win $250,000. So what was the point of all those challenges?? The worst family could end up winning because the others might hate the winningest family for eliminating them. Right? Did anyone watch this anyways?

Tear This Wall Down!!!

Other shows on tonight are:

ABC has Shark Tank at 9pm & Defying Gravity at 10pm.
Food Network is airing the Amazing Pie Challenge at 8pm. The winner of the tastiest pie gets $5000.
E! has another new episode of Khourtney & Khloe at 10pm & that’s followed by Reality Hell at 10:30pm.

Well, I think I’ve covered a little bit of everything. My “Pick of the Night” is MTV’s 2009 Video Music Awards.. Of course, True Blood is my second choice.

Could someone please explain to me why I have this incredible attraction to Russell Brand. He’s the exact opposite of every guy I’ve EVER been involved with but for some reason he just does it for me. Did you see him on the View coming on to Sherry Sheppard? It was the funnist thing I’ve seen in a while. I want him to come to my house………..to meet my husband of course……..

My first SPAMMER! I’m so happy. Cherie, did you bring him with you?

Just a few thoughts on the VMA’s tonight:
Kanye proved once again that he’s an ass.
Lady Gaga looked ridiculous in red & realized it & took that shit off.
Pink was once again the BEST entertainer in the house!
    Tracy Morgan is NOT funny.
Sasha Fierce graciously gave her stage time to Taylor.

…. and yes Cherie, I’d invite Russell to my house too, but not to meet your husband.

I LOVE Russell Brand! He was on Jimmy Fallon the other night, which I don’t typically watch but I did for him. And then he was on Comedy Central later that night. It was his stand-up and it was hilarious! I’m glad I’m not alone in my Russell Brand fascination.

Kanye did just exactly what he’d intended: he made the whole show about him. It’s the only thing people will remember from the show.

He just hates to be ignored.

Kudos to Beyonce for her grace and class in calling Taylor up to finish her acceptance.

Well, well, well, yet ANOTHER scandal about Kanye West and an outburst at yet ANOTHER awards show. Shock me,shock me,shock me! No doubt about it the man is a total douche, but how much you wanna bet that this morning while drinking his Tang and googling his name he was rubbing his hands together and
(ego)maniacally laughing in glee because once again news outlets, internet bloggers, and people that tweet(twitterers?) have made him the number one story in news entertainment today? No matter how you look at it you just can’t buy that kinda of attention and publicity.

I’ll bet everyone over at the Jay Leno show are ecstatic about Kanye Douchebag’s infamy.
