Mischa Barton… a “has-been”?
The CW new show, The Beautiful Life, premieres tonight at 9pm. Co-produced by Tyra Banks & Ashton Kutcher, it cashs in on it’s lead-in, America’s Next Top Model at 8pm. Need to know more? Follow me….Before we discuss tonight’s fanfare, I need to address the finale of Big Brother 11 last night. Houseguest Kevin, said it best, weeks ago, when he realized it was the season of “Jordeff”, and it was. Both Jordan, ($500,000 winner) & Jeff, (America’s Choice $25,000) came out on top. I think America was more excited to see Natalie, (2nd place $50,000) defeated in the end, then happy for Jordan’s victory. I think I’d have rather seen Kevin win. It was a fun season & I’m looking forward to season 12. Maybe they will bring back Jessie, just one more time.
The Big Brother Winner is NOT Natalie!
Okay, moving on, the CW is launching it’s new series, The Beautiful Life. In keeping with it’s “teen/young girl” programming, this definitely hits the mark. It also falls into place as a partner to America’s Next Top Model. Young models vie for the top spot in NYC’s fashion world. Misha Barton plays the “has-been” model, fighting to maintain her seniority, while being threatened by the “newbie”, Sara Paxton. Talk about has-beens, Elle Macpherson shows up in this episode.

ANTM, airing at 8pm, has Tyra doing her favorite thing, teaching the models-to-be to smile with their eyes! The guest judge for this week is Lauren Conrad. Isn’t she that skank from The Hills?
Tonight on FOX, we have So You Think You Can Dance at 8pm. The auditions have now moved to Phoenix, AZ. I read somewhere that Nigel is pissed that American Idol stole Ellen from them. Doesn’t he realize that this is a good thing. They need to stick with judges who know about dance & not just how to dance.
Glee follows with it’s second episode, at 9pm. This week Will is trying to form an all-boys acapella group, the “AcaFellas”. Victor Garber (Eli Stone) appears as Will’s dad & we also get a surprise visit from Josh Groban, playing himself.
“I give the AcaFellas two thumbs-up!”
The winner of $1 million is revealed on NBC’s America’s Got Talent at 8pm. They have managed to stretch this ‘results’ show out to 2 whole hours! They have filled it with celebrity performances by Shakira, Leona Lewis, & Rascal Flatts. The headliner is, of course, Britain’s Got Talent winner, Susan Boyle, giving her first performance in the U.S. I have to say that I’m rooting for wild-card finalist, Drew Stevyns, who’s vocals aren’t perfect, as Sharon Osborne pointed out, but he has what it takes to pack a room in Las Vegas
The Jay Leno Show follows at 10pm. His primary guest is Robin Williams, with Miley Cyrus doing the new “10 at 10″ segment he introduced last night.
Drew Stevyns, and he’s pleasant on the eyes too!
ABC has new episodes of Wipeout at 8pm, Crash Course at 9pm & PrimeTime: The Outsiders at 10pm.
CBS is running repeats. It seems to work well for them this week.
A&E is airing a special marathon of The Beast, Patrick Swayze’s final TV show on this network, all afternoon. At 10pm, a special biography examines the actor’s life. I wasn’t a huge fan, but the guy could really “cut a rug”.
The Beast
Speaking of biographies, the Biography Channel has it’s season premiere of Biography at 10pm, with the biography of George Clooney. Now that’s a biography that I want to see.
The “new” Cary Grant
It’s also important to note that HISTORY Channel is premiering it’s new series, MysteryQuest, at 10pm, by looking into the facts behind Hitler’s death & if he did die in an assault on his Berlin bunker. No body was ever found.
Oh, & I almost forgot to remind you that Top Chef: Las Vegas airs tonight on BRAVO, at 10pm. I’m a huge TC fan, but I have to admit, I haven’t watched this season at all. I need to sit down and watch a marathon this weekend & get caught up. Is it worth it? Let me know if I should.
Now for my “Pick of the Night”. Hmmmm, this is a tuffy. I think I’ll go with SYTYCD & Glee. I’ll DVR America’s Got Talent so I can FF to the winner.
