TVgasm Year In Review: February

February kicked off with the biggest television event of the year: the Superbowl, which was tamer than ever thanks to Nipplegate 2004. But at least all those middle aged guys could get their jollies over Paul McCartney’s halftime spectacular (which featured the audience raising cards to create a French flag. You see, it’s red, white, and blue — not the other way around).

Survivor kicked off one of its best seasons with Palau, and Freddie and Kendra won the Amazing Race 6 (falling gates be damned!). Frendra’s quarrelsome fellow cast-mates Jonathan and Victoria appeared on a Dr. Phil special to do a little damage control, and of course, we took the chance to ridicule them.

In random celebrity sightings, we caught Drea De Matteo and Gina Gershon chowing down in a dingy old van. Drea later scoffed at the story on Last Call with Carson Daly. Meanwhile, in a nifty follow-up to January’s Bachelorette outing, we found ourselves coincidentally in a party for the Bachelorette guys. And yes, we duped Fabrice into a grainy photo.

But the big story of February was Mischa Barton’s lesbian kiss on The OC, something TVgasm scooped back in 2004. The smooch turned out to be a big nothing, sort of like the whole second season of The OC. We offered our advice on how to save the show, but it’s largely gone unheeded. Oh well. There’s only so much you can do as a blog, which is why we ended the month in proud, sniveling form by tearing apart the Oscars.

why you dissin’ on the OC? why are you saying the advice went unheeded when you’re now praising the show by the end of season 2 into season 3? explain!!!

I will say that the show did get better, but I just ran out of time this season. You can only watch so much television.

that is NOT the B-Side i know…the B-Side i know would watch tv all night well into the mid-morning hours keeping your neighbors awake.
