TVgasm Year In Review: September

September 2005 brought in not only a new television season, but a spiffy new TVgasm cast. With sg-dub and copygodd becoming official writers over the summer, the fall brought us Kat and the always controversial EdHill. Sadly, we also had to say goodbye to Madeyoulaugh, who wrote a deeply moving farewell letter on September 9th, 2005.

On television, Maggie anticlimactically won Big Brother 6 (sigh). In true TVgasm form, we snuck into the wrap party, took pictures, and snickered in the corner with Shannon Elizabeth (plunk! Name drop!). Other September winners were J.D. Fortune on Rockstar: INXS, Chris on The Cut, and John O’Hurley on the big Dancing with the Stars rematch. And then, of course, there were the Emmys. Two of us liveblogged the event while madeyoulaugh actually got to rub elbows with such luminaries as Johnny Fairplay at the TV Guide Emmy Party. As usual, the Emmys did no justice to the year in television; so we presented our favorites in the first annual Golden Gasms Awards. The prize was a gift certificate to The Olive Garden, but sadly, none of the winners claimed this mighty bounty.

Meanwhile, if you weren’t watching Johnny Fairplay poop, Janice and Omarosa brawl, and Tyra fondle her own breasts, then maybe you were watching one of the many new shows/seasons premiering. There were too many to count (although, we mentioned many in our two-part fall TV preview), but possibly the two lamest launches were The Amazing Race: Family Edition (which we were hoping would look a bit more like this) and The Apprentice: Martha Stewart. Poor sg-dub. His first network reality show to recap, and it’s a dud. Hopefully he raised his spirits by watching the Julie Chen “But First” video or at least the Lamborghini marketing pitch, courtesy of The Apprentice 4. PASSION!
