Eddie Guerrero Stole My Recap.

I’ve taken some heat from the readers here for not having a decades-long knowledge of professional wrestling. Like I’ve said, I haven’t been watching it all that long. But I have been watching long enough to have my favorites. And Eddie Guerrero was certainly one of them.

Eddie Guerrero passed away on Sunday, November 13th. He was 38 years old. He is survived by his wife Vickie and daughters Shaul, 14, Sherilyn, 9, and Kaylie Marie, 3. The cause of death has not been determined. Maybe it was seeing all the RAW and SmackDown superstars come out of character to share their feelings about the passing of Latino Heat. Maybe it’s the fact that I’m in the middle of a wicked Zoloft withdrawal. Or that I’m just a big pussy at heart. Whatever it is, I’m just not in the mood to write a funny recap of this week’s episode. Nor do I think it would be appropriate.

Eddie Guerrero was a liar. He was a cheater. And he was a stealer. He was a true superstar. And he will be missed.

Viva la raza!

Eddie was always my favorite, good or bad. Even my husband would stop to watch his fights (and he doesn’t watch WWE). When I heard he died in my city Minneapolis, I was so sad. He will be missed. Eddie! Eddie! Eddie! Eddie!

Thanks for the “recap”. Last night was an emotional time for a lot of people, and it goes to show you how the wrestlers you may or may not like always have a heart. It was wonderful to see so many of them stand together and give Eddy the tribute he deserved.I’m going to miss his sense of humor, his wrestling skills, and his obvious love for the profession.

There is now a preliminary autopsy, and the cause of death has been ruled heart failure from heart disease.

Being friends with an ex-wrestler, I once had the privilege of meeting Eddie Guerrero and having dinner with him, his brother Hector, and Chavo Jr. My buddies and I were part of a large group at the table and I’ll never forget Eddie going around the table introducing himself…to people he didn’t know from Adam, mind you. Eddie and Hector had us in stitches all night with their stories from the road and, as they got up to leave, Eddie once more went around the table, shaking every hand and telling everyone by name how nice it was to meet them. Just a dear, dear person and I’m very saddened at his passing. Another pro-wrestler gone too soon.

Viva la raza, Eddie. You’re already missed.

Eddie was truly one of the best – EVER. Even when he was going through his substance abuse problems I never heard one person that had a problem with him. He will be missed. But did anyone else find it completely disgarceful that they had Chavo speak, Rey speak and Benoit speak (arguably the closest people in the world to him aside from his family – well Chavo, anyway) and then AFTER those guys – to close the show the have freaking HGH and Steph McMAN? As if the other guys weren’t important enough to close the show! All the McMahons can go to hell. This was a night for Eddie and his friends, not a time to continually put themselves above everyone else.

According to the preliminary autopsy Eddie died of heart disease. Most likely caused by the years of drug and alsohol abuse. Although he had been “clean” for nearly four years the substances had already done their damage on his heart (scarring the arteries and causing other damage). He did not od.
