sg-dub, i guess you're not familiar with the story behind his drug-taking. I've got to defend the guy because no one else does and I'll do it in the nicest way I can:

He had spinal surgery about 10 years ago which equals an extremely painful surgery and recovery. Hence, the painkillers prescribed to him by his doctors. These type of heavy-duty painkillers are extremely addictive and there are a lot of older people in this country who have become addicted to these type pills the same way Rush got hooked. And going off of them is even harder. He finally got help and I'm glad he's clean now.

But I'm sure you had a little smirk and gave yourself a pat on the back for what you thought was a clever jab.

I agree. This is one of the few places I've found that usually is all about making ppl laugh, not making cheap political jabs. I'd like to see it stay that way.

With that said, yes, Rush is a hypocrite in the sense he reamed drug abusers for years, and then he himself became one. However, I think it's a bit different to label someone as the same kind of drug abuser that becomes dependent on a highly addictive medication for a severely painful condition than some junkie on the street trying to get a quick high. Maybe it's me, but I see a big difference. If any of you have had to go on a pain medication like that, you know it is not easy to quit cold turkey. I'm not condoning his actions, but I totally see where he's coming from.

At any rate, the man has also publicly admitted his hypocrisy many times on his show and in other forums. I implore anyone to name one person who has not made a gross generalization about people and been wrong about it somewhere down the line...
