Karen proclaims a truce with Tom. Fabulous. She also asks him why Daniels withdrew his case, and Tom does that little gremlin shake of the head he does so well to deny it. Karen says, "Okay. But someday I'd like to know the real story." And Tom, God love him, snarks, "Okay! Someday!" I'd like Tom and Gredenko to be the entertainment at my next birthday party. Take note, please.

At that very moment Tom gets a phone call and proceeds to sputter and bulge his eyes out of his head. He runs out of the room, telling Karen that Palmer has decided to go ahead with the strike on Iraqistan. He flees back to the president and demands to know why, WHY?! Palmer sneers that he risked his life to reassert his authority, not to cancel the strike. General Walsh informs him that it has launched successfully. And the Little Missile That Could is on its way!

Oh, man. I'm not sure what happened this week, but I think it involved a hostile takeover of the 24 Writing Room by a squadron of drunken monkeys. Seriously, judicial intrigue? What happened to five terrorist attacks per hour, back in the good old days? I mean, generally speaking I tend to defend this show with a die-hard tenacity, but even I have to admit that this episode was just plain boring. The only saving grace was Gredenko, who gets the Badass Award Of The Week, and the part where he schemed to make a pack of drunken patriots take down Fayed was totally hilarious. Thoughts? Comments? Ever hack off an arm with a hatchet?

Screampillar, Your review was much better than the show itself. I don't think anyone could have been a bigger fan of this show than I, but this season truly stinks. I am flipping during commericials to watch M*A*S*H reruns, and sometimes forgetting to flip back. I heard somewhere that Keifer has been filming a movie and that is why he hasn't been in these episodes as much. For whatever the reason, they have gone seriously downhill, and can forget the Emmy nod next year.

Ty:

Great review...but did anyone else find it strange that the "audio device" that Gredenko had looked like a tape recorder circa 1990? I mean, they inject a freaking ISOTOPE in his arm bone to track his movements, but they give him a honking huge tape recorder for audio, complete with wires and everything. I seriously had to pause my TV because I was laughing my ass off so hard.

I would rather watch my brother play DOOM 2 than watch another boring episode like this. At least a video game has constant suspense, action and the blowing up of stuff. Not so much on 24 lately. I groaned inwardly as I realised I was watching a video conference on TV. And the supremely moronic "twist" of having Palmer the Lesser launch the strike on Iraqistan actually had me thinking for a second that perhaps an imposter had taken over his body. Because in my mind that was a more viable go-to explanation than what actually happened. Like if he was back on Buffy the Vampire Slayer and he had been turned, so, you know, evil and whatnot. Hey, it happened to Eric Balfour, not too much to hope for.
Gredenko was too interesting to stay, I guess. Too bad he's finished. I also laughed when I realised 24 took a page from Prison Break and lopped off someone's arm to advance the plot. At least Gredenko didn't have time to get a fricking VETERINARIAN to sew it back on.
I miss Brady the autistic brother from last week. CTU should hire him, and he and Chloe could share a cubicle. Wouldn't that be fun?
Great recap considering you didn't have much to work with. Thanks.

I agree with the others - excellent recap despite an atrocious episode. I have a feeling your recaps will be better than the show for the rest of the season. I wish they'd just quit now and try again next year. 24 has betrayed me.

Ty - I definitely laughed at the ancient "audio device." I guess they used their last high-tech in-the-ear transmitter on the retarded kid the week before.

I don't know what you're all saying, i actually enjoyed the episode. Granted, it wasn't that good, but not that bad either.
Palmer (pressident pussy II) launching the strike was a little stupid, all that trouble for nothing!
By the way, Great recap!!

I agree with others who everyone else who said this was a pretty crappy episode. The chopped off arm was so obvious when they mentioned that Gredenko couldn't dig out the isotopes. The writers should have put a flashing "foreshadowing" sign on the screen. The only high points were Tom's Pier 1 bowl of Espionage and Gredenko making the 'mericans beat the crap out of Fayed.

I haven't read the recaps lately, so maybe I missed this. Is there a consensus on Nadia's purpose other than possible eye candy?

Why must NBC make me wait for over a month for Heroes to return!?

Ye of little faith...you all are so impatient.

Thanks jules, basically what I was going to say. Last night was amazing, can't wait for the recap.

Truly abysmal episode, but the 4/9 one gives me hope that the writers finally realized they have to ditch this sinking ship and the show's going to be revived. Quick, quick with the recap so we can comment!! :)
