Outside we see Dixon taking out the garbage when he notices Silvers car is still there. And she's sleeping in it. They sit and talk and she tells him everything. Her mom is a raging alcoholic and is really mean, too. It's sad, and Dixon hugs her, and I melt a little inside. He tells her that they have to tell his dad because he'll know what to do and be able to help. Silver flips out and tries to leave but Dixon stops her. Umm, hello? He's adopted for a reason! Namely, he's been in terrible foster homes and has probably seen far worse than you have.

Adopted%20card.png

Well now that you've pulled the adoption card...

The parents keep their cool and tell Silver that as far as they're concerned, she can stay until they figure it all out. Yay! Debbie looks worn out, probably because she finally realized that she will never be able to get rid of the girl.

The next morning Kelly and dad are having coffee waiting for the girls to wake up. Dad offers to talk to Kelly's mom but Kelly declines. She'll take care of this one. I got really excited at this point and truly think if they had played some super intense there's-about-to-be-a-showdown music right then I would have wet myself.

At Naomi's house, she confronts her mother and tells her what she saw, apologizing profusely. Turns out the mom knows all about her, she only comes into town every so often, and her and her father have too much together to let it come between them. I've got to hand it to her; she's got a good handle on this. Naomi's reaction and total lack of acting skills can be best summed up by another picture montage of her terrible, TERRIBLE faces.

Picture%204.png Picture%208.png Picture%209.png

I wonder how I can talk you out of ever making any of these faces again...

Enter Jackie Taylor! Drunk as ever. She tells Kelly that Silver has been staying at her friend Naomi's house, no big! Kelly berates her for being a terrible mother to no avail. Silver comes in and their mother is not happy with her. Kelly tells her that Silver is coming with and mom pulls out all the single mom of a toddler stops. Silver tries to tell her mom how she feels and Jackie cuts her off with a resounding "Oh get out. I'm tired of both of you."

No worries, gang, it all works out in the end, as we are treated to a cute scene with Kelly, Accident, and Silver in bed playing together. The Wilson family comes together as well over breakfast, and Annie and Dixon throw out ideas for the next family night. Yay family!

And that's the show! What did you all think? If Annie and Ethan don't get together soon I'm going to scream. At least get rid of Ty! And they are going to have to do something with Naomi because, frankly, I'm having a hard time looking at her when she's trying to play serious. Sadly, Lucille was majorly lacking in this episode but it seems next week she'll be around quite a bit. Oh and Kelly and Brenda throw down all over again! At first I thought they were doing a bit too much with the old cast but I actually like how they're working the old show into the new. Thoughts?

Love and Big League Chew,
Pach

After finishing watching this episode, I was considering stopping tuning in for this abysmal remake of an excellent pseudo-soap opera. But then I remembered if I did, I wouldn't be able to read your hilariously deadpanned recaps. Okay, I'm done ass-kissing now.
At the beginning when you called Naomi's faces awful I was like "I know EXACTLY what you're talking about". And the screen caps only confirmed that. She's like the Chace Crawford of 90210.
I really like the the coupling of Silver and Dixon... best looking couple of the show.
And am also continuously weirded out by Matthews constantly asking to see Kelly's kid. On top of the annoyance of seeing Shenae Grimes' face, seeming to be caught in a perpetual goofy smile. AAGH WHY HER. SHE RUINED DEGRASSI.

I'm stuck home alone sick on Friday night so was very excited to see this recap posted!

I agree with alex w re: Annie. What was up with her rushing out to comfort Naomi with a "I have to go handle this" attitude when she heard the news about Naomi's dad? You've known the girl like, a day, and basically were responsible for her relationship ending...

Anyway, everytime they closed in on one of Naomi's TERRIBLE "I'm angry/shocked/devastated" faces where she's attempting to squeeze out a tear, (she always seemed to have the last camera shot before a commercial) I kept waiting for Gossip Girl's voice to come on with some snarky comment.

Are we positive Brandon is accident's father? I know what Kelly said last week made it seem like that's who she was talking to on the phone that night, but really? Maybe the writers are trying to trick us? Like, what if the father was really Steve(!) or something? I feel like the writers are underestimating my intelligence.

Anyway great recap and can't wait for your next one! Hope my entry makes sense, I am hopped up on cold medicine!

Brenda Walsh:

How can the baby be Brandon's? Kelly said, "Someone I dated in high school." She didnt date Brandon in high school; they didnt start dating till college. Hooked up in Washington DC and went public the first episode Val was on the show.

So it has to be Dylan's..or Steve Sanders...baby.

nhmom:

Yes, can't be Brandon's as she clearly said someone she had "history with in HIGH SCHOOL". That would only be Steve or Dylan.

When Naomi makes those bad faces, she looks WAY old, her days are numbered as a high schooler, but then again, the original cast was about 10 years older than they were supposed to be...

DaffyMaiden:

I don't see Brandon being an absent father -- remember how he was before Kelly miscarried? (BTW, I'm sure Kelly saw Sam as a miracle, not an accident, since she was told it was unlikely she'd ever be able to carry to term. My aunt delivered a healthy baby even though she had endometriosis, but not everyone does.)

lagitha:

You're right, Pachita, I never want to catch my parents in compromising position. That's why I make it a rule to never bring my folks dinner when they work late, and never hang out with Color Me Badd at the BelAge Hotel.

eurazn:

Sorry, but Ty's way hotter than Ethan is. If Annie was slick like Kelly, she'd play them BOTH, though.

edub109:

I'm sorry but Naomi is the most ridiculous character. A--they're shoving her down my throat B--she's not the least bit attractive C--i don't really care about her. Sixteen my ass the girl looks about 27. Even every one I've talked to can't stand her...Get rid of her....I absolutely love Silver they could really do alot with her and Annie. I think I'm looking for like a 'group' like on the old one. I can't get over how much she has David's eyes. Ethan is super. I did not like him at first but I've really grown fond of him..

I'm really hoping they get more of the old cast on there before the show tanks.. I think people really want to see..maybe with Brenda leaving they can bring donna back...and, of course, in my dreams Dylan returns.

So with the exception of Naomi--shows not bad!

pachita:

Thanks for the comments, guys! I'm glad I could entertain SOME of you!

After the convo that Brenda and Kelly had in episode 2, I was under the impression that the baby was Brandon's but I could be mistaken. Allegedly the fathers identity is revealed on Tuesday so tune in to find out!

lagitha - ah! I forgot all about that!!! Thanks for reminding me, its a perfect reference :)

eurazn - to each his/her own

edub109 - I agree with everything you said! It looks like they're moving in the direction of having more of a group feel, or at least I got that impression with the bowling scene. Here's hoping!

DaffyMaiden:

Maybe it was another phone call on another night? Anyway, he has to be Dylan's!

Reesewitherspoon:

That Naomi girl annoyed me on Nip/Tuck and she annoys me even more here. She looks like a blow up sex doll. She looks so fake and her acting is horrendous. How does she continue to get work. She sucks a fleshlight!

Volcat:

I don't think the baby is Brandon's for a couple of reasons. As it has already been stated, Kelly didn't date Brandon in high school. This means it could be Steve or Brandon, or it could be some of the other random guys that she dated. Remember, she was a big slut her freshman year. I'm just glad it's some guy from high school and not that Matt douche that she was dating at the end of the original series. I couldn't stand that guy.

Also, if Brandon were the kid's dad, then wouldn't Brenda be referring to him as her nephew?

gophergirl9:

I also agree that the baby probably isn't Brandon's kid - Brandon Walsh is too much of a boy scout to be a deadbeat dad.

tiftwinklez:

Totally off subject a little bit.. but at the end of the original series, didn't Valerie own part of the Peach Pit, or am I completely wrong? I bet either the father is Dylan and he's going to come back and create drama with Brenda and Kelly, or it's Brandon's and he's going to create drama between kelly and her new love interest. Either way, I would also like to see old characters on the show again. I'm waiting to here where everyone went, and what happened to the old Walsh house lol.

RLR123:

Okay at Donna and David's wedding, didn't Kelly and Dylan look at each other, forshadowing that they were going to get back together or get together? Also I read somewhere that Brandon may come back and David but Steve and Dylan weren't...that could have changed.

baymenxpac:

love the recap. it's nice to see positive things said about the show, because i genuinely enjoy it. i was a big fan of the original, but this one definitely holds my interest and keeps me entertained.

first off, thank god for silver. she's totally on the rachel bilson path. but naomi needs to leave. now. the elizabeth berkley parallels and get horrible faces are spot on. how did her and her lackey, druggie friend ever do well enough in testing to constitute giving them a big role?

and of course, more lucille bluth. it neeeeeds to happen.

creecher:

Nice Jessie Spano reference!
