Welcome back everyone! Last week we learned that Mai Thai Trannies sing in the key of "B-Flat" while Jaime sings in the key of "B-itch", the dental program of Thailand thrives on reality show competitions, and the Lil Guys are apparently the biggest rule-breakers the show has ever seen! Now - this week - let's find out who really puts the "itch" in "BITCH!" (and I just signed that too!)... ladies and gentlemen... AMAZING RACE!!!
Margie and Luke are the first to depart Bangkok and head off to Guilin, China! There, they must find a salon to get their next clue. Thank God! Poor Margie could really use a cut and color. And you know Luke's not passing up a chance for mani/pedi's! EEEK!
Luke is happy to be in a country where people don't speak english so that him and his Mom can be in "the same boat". But once at the airport, Margie wheels and deals with the ticketing agents to get the best flight. My fav part? She's all "And can you go to GONGJOW to here?" She totally pronounces "Guangzhou" with an angry Chinese accent! LOVE IT! It was out of nowhere - like when Giada De Laurentiis spits an Italian word out in the middle of a sentence.
Next off - Cara and Satan. They open up their info packet and when Jaime sees "China" she rolls her eyes and goes "UGGGHHH!!!" What a bitch. Seriously. Way to offend 1 out of every 5 people on earth. And where did she think she'd be going on Amazing Race?!? Bali, Rome and Paris?!! SHIT.
And when she holds her nose up at something? WATCH OUT. She can knock shit over! WOW.
I gotta feel for Cara though. She goes on to explain that she knows what a bitch Jaime is to the cab drivers but stays out of it so it doesn't become worse. She's like a mom that lets her kid act like an asshole because "Oh well. That's just the way they are!" Ya know - sort of like the situation behind me on the airplane right now. Except I'm gonna cut the little fuckers behind me if they kick my seat one more time. Sidenote: If I have any fans in the midwest I just waved to you. bBitz at 30,000 feet - holla!
Next team - Tammy & Victor! Tammy's excited because she's been to China on spring break before. Wow - just like Cancun - except substitute Senor Frog's with Panda Express. That's all they have over there right? I don't know - I'm just going by what Jaime told me. They're also stoked because they'll get to speak Chinese! Ahhh... from Jaime's mouth to God's ears.
At the airport Jaime employs the technique of "talking louder helps them understand me." Margie & Luke get the first flight out and the girls & Tammy & Victor are close behind.
Jen and Kisha are next out. Jen says that she's ready to knock people down if they get in her way. IF THERE'S A GOD THERE WILL BE A HUGE THROW DOWN BETWEEN HER AND JAIME AT SOME POINT. PLEEEEASE!
Next off - the unsinkable Lil Guys! They leave with high hopes they'll be able to catch up from the approx 20 hours they're behind. I'm surprised their footage isn't actually a live feed.
Pretty soon teams start catching up to Margie and Luke in Guilin since the next flight out is delayed. Jen & Kisha (who were on a different flight) end up getting there first. Once everyone finally gets to the destination,Tammy & Victor take the lead and are ecstatic to speak Chinese. Does anyone else feel like either Tammy & Victor were chosen because they can speak Chinese or China was selected because of it? Seems a little suspect.
If the next destination is in the underworld, so that Jaime can speak in forked-tongue, I'm saying this show is rigged.
Luke is jealous because Tammy & Victor can speak the language of the country. He says he wants to go to a country where everyone's deaf and signs. Hmmm... a country where no one listens and everyone talks with their hands? Keep your fingers crossed for Italy, Luke.
Kisha and Jen start talking again about laying the smack down. Uh oh. Trouble is totally brewing. Not to mention they keep reffering to "Qing Xiu Lu" as "Ching Chong Loo". Wow. Apparently they took Chinese lessons from Rosie O'Donnell.
Meanwhile Tammy & Victor are learning that just because they understand the taxi driver doesn't mean it helps when they understand "I have no fucking clue where I'm going."

im definitely on kisha jen's side...luke has always been so bitchy..plus i like how he said "call the deaf guy a bitch" but she signed it so i think it was fair game.
Then it was just ridiculous how Margie accused them of laughing at him for being deaf, im sure that was not the case at all.

okay, here's what's lame about this whole situation:
margie and luke were kind of blantant and fast to play the deaf card. and the "you should know better because you're black thing." awwwwwkwwaaaaard indeed.
BUT
you can tell both of these girls are BITCHES. like, they the whole, "i laugh in uncomfortable, tense situations." i call bs! weird situation all around, but i'm more with margie and luke than i am with kisha and jen.

I don't want to be a bitch but, uh, this is so last week.
My mother called me over the weekend and told me she hates the "black girls" and wants them out of the race. I tried to explain that I didn't think the "black girls" were laughing at Luke but my mom said they were laughing at that "poor deaf boy" and she hates Jen and Kisha now and wants them eliminated from the race. That's the news from Iowa.
My take: Luke was behaving like a bitch and he got what he deserved.
Victor = cute. Yes, Victor is cute but only when he doesn't act like a stubborn dick.

before i read, i just have to point out that i dislike both teams now. i was rooting for kisha and jen before this episode, but both teams were annoying. for one, kisha and jen totally started it, yet blamed it on luke and called him a bitch. if it had stayed that way, then i would be rooting for luke and margie now. however, it was so immature of luke to retaliate at the next clue box. i'm over both teams now. hate to say it, but i'm rooting for tammy and victor...can we just bring mel and mike back please?

i can see where you are coming from bbitz...you might be right about kisha and jen's laughing...plus, i don't have slo-mo capabilities like you do, so maybe jen didn't push luke...

"Teams must train a cormorant bird to retrieve a fish and drop it in a basket 10 times." They had those same birds on Survivor China and they tied a string around the birds necks so they can swallow the fish. That's why that bird bit Luke when he was just holding the fish over the water. Those birds wanted the fish for themselves.
At the 1st clue box when Luke blocked Jen and elbowed her off that was a bitch move because lots of other teams have taken the clue out at the same time. Jen just made things worse when she decided to make sure that Luke wound not get to that 2nd clue box first but I think she was still pissed about the misdirections on the last leg and she and keisha now just expect what they feel is 'dirty play' from M&L. Margie had already made up her mind that Jen pushed Luke first and then called him a bitch. So after that there was nothing you could tell Margie to change her mind.
I saw when Keisha started to laugh and it really looked like she was laughing because Luke was throwing a tantrum and not because he was signing. If that was they case we would have seen them do stuff like that in the cabs and in confessional (especially after the 1st and 2nd run-ins at the clue boxes). I don't think the producers would edit that out and leave the Jamie stuff in.
That was a very blanket statement for Luke to say that all hearing people make fun of death people, but Margie seems to be feeding into Luke feeling like a victim as well as she does everything for him. He needs to grow up and stand on his own. If life is harder for him she needs to be teaching him to be stronger for it. I'm sure that's what Keisha and Jen parents would say to them about being black.
Only other thing I would say is that Margie also needs to teach Luke not to push or threaten to hit girls. Is he in the 2ng grade or what?

Sorry "so they can NOT swallow the fish".

bBitz, this recap had me LOLing all over the place!!
Also, I just wanted to share that the 2nd place teams also get money, so personally I'm rooting for Jamie and Cara to make it to a 3rd place finish. :D

Luke is a little bitch, and that is all there is to it.
Margie babies him, excuses his behavior and as a result Luke functions at an early teenaged level socially.
At least thats my opinion....
But did anyone notice Luke going out of his way to bump into either Jen or Kisha (can't remember, sorry) at the airport in BeiJing? That was no accident.
I really, really do not want Luke and Margie to win.

Luke has been the little bitch that Margie has raised him to be. She always says that people should give him a chance even though he is deaf, but she constantly shields him from the real life. And then he goes and says that Jen shouldn't have pushed the deaf guy. Well which is it? Do you want to be treated like everyone else or should you be treated differently because you are deaf? You can't just take the good part of "normal" and then expect special treatment for the rest. You have to take the good with the bad.
I watched it repeatedly too and Jen absolutely did not push him. But Margie clearly is comfortable in the role of making her son a martyr so that is what happened. Clearly her son could never be guilty of anything. They really annoy me. Luke acts like a 7 year old. A really bratty 7 year old at that. And deafness isn't an excuse to be an asshole. I have two deaf relatives and they behave like normal adults. But, of course, their parents treated them like normal people who couldn't hear rather than babies that need to be coddled and protected from the world. Can you tell this annoys the shit out of me? It really gives deaf people a bad name.
And I believe Keisha when she said she laughs at uncomfortable situations. I do the same sometimes. It is just nervousness.
Plus, not to give any spoilers or anything, but next week the sisters let the situation go but Margie and Luke harp on it the whole episode. But then look at their behavior in the past... they were the only team to u-turn and they like to try and screw over the others. I guess it is alright when they do it, but not when anything happens to them. GAWD, I hope they go home soon.

Luke deserved to be called a bitch because he acts like a bitch. Any man that throws bows, throws tantrums, threat to beat a woman - that spells bitch in my book. His mammy should have taught him better than that.

Ok, I was so upset about the Luke thing that I didnt take time to read the entire recap..I am now literally CRYING over Jaime's school note!!!! Bbitz, that is the funniest s*!t I have ever seen!!! 4RENERZ?!?!?!?!?! AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!!!!
12 of 23 | Posted by lexxi1129 | Posted on April 27, 2009 3:58 PM
Luke throwing an elbow at a woman's face? Serious bitch move. (I would have hurt him.) The sisters were not without blame, but nothing they did justified that.
I think Tammy is super hot, but she smiles while lying and manipulating the less fortuneate, and thus reminds me she is a lawyer.
Jaime makes a great "ugly American" and reinforces how unimportant looks are.
For the most part, I like and respect Margie, but I can see how some of Luke's flaws came from how she handled him.
Cara seems nice, although she is an enabler for Jaime.
There isn't a team I'm crazy about, but at this point, I find myself pulling for the sisters.
Thanks for a great recap!

This does seem a tad after the fever, but I blame Margie mostly . . . the tone she used to tell him about the "bitch" comment was wrong. Bitch is so common now, and she made it seem like it was the worst thing someone could say, she didn't ask what happened, and I believe Luke elbowed her on reflex because he's spoiled and has bad boundaries. ridiculous to hit his hand in anger after being called a bitch, ridiculous!!! There's no good reason to hit anyone, and I hope after Margie sees the footage she will see the error of her ways-like anyone will care, but they have been mean and even Margie herself was saying she's surprised how aggressively he's playing the game.
Watching him sit in that thing and having Mom pull him really made me despise Luke, but I don't think it's distorting my take on this . . .
Bbitz, okay, I was howling with the signing of bitch thing, I didn't notice that, but toooo funny!!!!

Jaime's school note was the funniest thing I've seen.EVER. I busted out laughing! Sooo funny! And the "4renerz" bit did me in! Kudos!

Great recap!
While I loved Jaime's note, your last picture killed me - "Is that a Jelly Bean in your pocket?"
LOL
While I applaud Marge for sticking up for Luke, in my eyes Luke looks like a bigger "bitch" for conveniently forgetting that he threw an elbow at Jen's face. Poor Marge goes off without knowing all of the facts, and brings racial issues into the mix. Perhaps if Luke were man enough to tell Marge he threw an elbow, she wouldn't have been so emotional.

I'm giving Luke the benefit of the doubt. If I couldn't hear and someone came up behind me/in my personal space I might throw an elbow too. Either way, I think their both wrong but it sure makes for good television.

i just read that jamie was a former police officer...wow. i wouldn't have thought that at all.

I saw this mentioned on another site - Luke's elbow is the instinctive move of someone who can't hear another person approaching and gets startled by being crowded/bumped into. Sure, dude's a bit whiny and needs to grow up a tad, but it's a good point.
Thanks for another great recap!

I hate to say it, but Luke needs to get away from his Mother.
She's a great mom.. I can tell she really loves him and wants to protect him.. but he needs to be on his own now. I hope when they are at home watching this show..Marge will realize that.
Luke needs a cute girl (hearing or deaf) who will stand in an elevator with him cuddling.. and he will sign to her, "You complete me."
*lil tear* *sniff*

Knackered:
Luke's gay. Mel revealed that on MSN (I think). So is one of the black chicks.
Mel revealed that too.
So, Luke would be cuddling with the cute gay guy.

bB, you've outdone yourself. Must have been some kick ass Bloody Marys on that plane...you have me laughing my ass off!
As I mentioned in the last recap, Luke is a Punk Ass Momma's Boy. Snootchy Bootches has it 100% correct. I almost climbed through the TV when she pulled the "you're Black so you should understand" card. How about that they appeared to be laughing at him for saying such BULLSHIT about how he was pushed? He couldn't even fight that battle on his own. The girls have no duty to be easy on him because of some apparent shared membership in the "Downtrodden" club. How the hell does she know what they've experienced in life? Why does she assume that all of us have miserable lives filled with discrimination and fighting against The Man?!? That comment was out of line, and I'm quite sure she'll continue to catch shit about it once the show is over. If you act an asshole on this show, it sort of follows you home (I'm looking at you, Jonathan and Victoria).
Mom has to translate for him, and that's where his dependence on her should remain. He really needs to toughen up not only in this Race, but in general, I'm afraid.
And BTW, what difference does it make who gets to read the goddamn clue two seconds before the next team?!? So stupid. What counts is how CLEARLY you understand what it says regarding what to do or how to proceed next (I'm looking at you, Lollipop Guild! You soooo deserved to go home!).
Mr. Dangerous, so now I'm reading that Luke, Victor AND one of the sisters are gay?? Okay, perhaps only a minor battery change is in order for my Gaydar, because I totally pegged the sister (with the short hair)!
I really was baffled about how long it took for the two sibling teams to get the hang of the diving board challenge. I mean, did they not understand that they needed to hit the water at the SAME DAMN TIME? How bout a little coordination and rehearsal on the ground about the jump's timing before you get up there?? Maybe it was a lot harder than it looked, but that drove me nuts.
I will throw my support to Victor and Tammy, and do everything in my power to send bad juju through the television for Margie and Luke, and Jaime and Cara. Rude, spiteful, angry, bitter, undeserving cretins, the lot of them.
Speaking of Jaime; "Cuntville" = instant classic. I'm gonna have to incorporate that into my daily vocabulary, bB!
