E-Tickets: Not Such a Great Idea in the Third World - TVgasm

America is slowly coming to grips with a number of things happening on the television landscape. Friends is over, leaving millions of 18-35 year olds without an insight into a sanitized life in New York filled with obvious and predictable innuendo. NFL football returns, leaving fifty percent of the population with between eight and twelve hours of free time on Sundays and four more on Monday. And last but not least, the emergence of Colin as the most hated person in reality TV since Sue Hawk started talking smack way back when on Survivor. Colin and his girlfriend Christie have thoroughly dominated The Amazing Race, and have rarely even been close to being eliminated. We are happy for Christie, until we realize that winning all of these stages means she is going to have to take all of these free vacations with Colin.

Colin and Christie have won like three trips to Mexico. As I mentioned before, they live in Corpus Christi, so this is no major thing for them. I am sure they go there all the time, since you can get all of your psychotropics without a prescription. In fact, the only thing making these last few legs of the race interesting is the presence of the oh so lovable teams of Chip and Kim and the Bowling Moms, who have bumbled their way past many teams to arrive at their current position. We also have the slightly less lovable, but still entertaining teams of Brandon and Nicole and The Twins

Brandon and Nicole finished last in the previous leg, so they had to start their day begging for money just to get started. Yes, it sounds difficult, but let's think this out for a minute. The non-elimination legs have all been in third world countries where it only takes finding a few rich tourists to get your money for the day. When you are lugging a camera crew with you, the power of persuasion becomes a lot stronger. Plus, on all of the legs after the non-elimination pit stop, there are always large parts of driving where the teams drive themselves instead of taking taxis, invariably saving tons of money. So if you love Brandon and Nicole, or anybody who may finish last in the final non-elimination leg, just calm down.

Still in Calcutta, the teams had to make their way to New Zealand, but everybody was forced to make their transitions in Bangkok. Most teams simply purchased the tickets to Bangkok first, hoping to make arrangements to get to New Zealand once there. Once in Bangkok, it was a mad rush to get on the first flights arriving in Auckland. To make matters worse, the efficient reservation offices in the Bangkok airline only allowed one person in at a time, severely limiting the ability for one team to keep tabs on another. Colin and Christie got the first flight out, and Chip and Kim, and Brandon and Nicole got on the second flight. The twins thought they had booked an even earlier flight than Colin and Christie, but had no record of their purchase and were not allowed on the plane. Unless you own your own Boeing Business Jet or prefer to fly by alternative methods you need to keep your Passport and Tickets handy at all times. If you don't you could be SOL. Luckily, the twins were able to get on the same flight as Chip and Kim and Brandon and Nicole.
