weavers_yieldedIs it me or has The Amazing Race: Family Edition picked up a little momentum? After poking around in Panama last week, I feared the show might do a U-Turn and take the families back to the States, but no, the series remained international as it headed up to Costa Rica. Still, while I'm happy we didn't find ourselves smack-dab in the middle of The Ozarks this week, the northern trajectory of the teams has me concerned that we'll soon be heading up through Mexico and back into the U.S. of A. I guess there's no use worrying about what could be, especially when I could use that time and energy to fixate on something else: my growing disdain for the Weavers. And how!

Last night's big episode started with teams having to travel to Costa Rica via one of three charter buses. You know the drill: each bus was thirty minutes apart, each bus had limited number of seats, and each bus was first come first serve. Once in the 'Rica (I just made that up. Like it?) teams would then have to drive themselves to the edge of a volcano where hopefully someone would fall in (Weaver family, perhaps?). Anyway, first out the gate were the Paolos, who only needed about 2.3 seconds to commence bickering. Next were the Weavers, and oh man, let me just say this: I hope Jesus had some downtime because he'd be called upon a lot tonight. As the family bounded out of the Pit Stop, the kids told us in an interview, "We've been raised since we were born not to trust other people, but to trust your family and to trust God." Huh. I always wondered where xenophobia came from. Thanks Weavers!

Oh, but they weren't done. One of the daughters noted that everyone was talking about them and stuff, but "We're all Christians, and we're above that." Yeah man. They would never talk smack about anyone else. We'll just see how that pans out a little later, mmkay?

Heading out third were the Bransens followed by the Lovable Linzes. Linda Weaver, meanwhile, still struggled on the side of the road as she attempted to flag down a taxi. "This is crazy!" she complained. Hey, maybe the Lord will send her a Jesus Chariot or something? By the way, it might be a good idea for you and the kids to take a step or two back from the road, Linda. Moving vehicles + the Weaver family = disaster.
