Margie continues to get so lost that she skips her first go-see entirely and cries herself a canal to get to her next go-see. She makes it to the trashy lingerie place and reveals the teeniest tinyest waist ever! I'm sure her hips aren't that large, but in comparison to her waist, it looks like they're a built-in seat for the toddlers that she'll surely pop out of those things with the greatest of ease. The designer refuses to book Marge because of - yes! yes! - the hunchback! She goes back early in the hopes of not being disqualified and gives her designer a fist-bump for thanks.
Analeigh gives her best Bambi walk and impresses an old Brit of a designer. She also struggles a bit with the language and tries on a black and white print poufy dress (clearly, I'm no designer) that I love even more than Whit's last season finale Versace. One designer in particular loves that Analeigh seems particularly willing to learn.
Elina manages to piss off a designer by showing up all sweaty. Ewwww! Apparently, Holland is one of those European countries that does believe in deodorant. Too add insult to embarrassment, the designer refuses to book Elina because she's "playing a model, she's not a model." BURN! The lingerie designer refuses to book her because the audience is going to be focused on Elina's tattoos instead of the designs. Valid point.
McKey gets to try on the most ridiculous outfit of the show.
What Would Blair Waldorf Do: Refuse, on the grounds that it makes her ass look too big
Other than that, the designers fall all over her - attitude, length, body, face. What don't people love. Maybe she's so tall that not enough blood gets to her head because she takes her sweet ass time moving around the city. I think she even stops to chase a butterfly at one point. Of course, she doesn't make it until what appears to be a hair after 5 p.m. Could have been true, could have been crafty editing.
The girls stand around and cheer when she misses the deadline and I vomit in my mouth a little. Seriously girls, we've ended up with what appears to be a decently classy bunch. Perhaps that's a bit of an exaggeration, but none of these girls are straight up trashy. And if you're only hopes of winning are because your competition DQs... well, maybe that says something about your performance. The girls seem really threatened by McKey so I'm gonna go out on a not-very-long limb and declare her to be the girl that the Jays said they knew would win the thing from Day One.
The agents reveal that McKey booked all of her gigs and would have one the competition if she had been on time. Samantha's too commercial, Elina's great at runway but has too many tattoos, Margie disappointed everyone and has crappy posture, and Analeigh has gorgeous hair and a fresh face but tries a little too hard. The prize package is $18,000 worth of clothes from the designers. Which is either two couture dresses or 18,000 matching lingerie sets from that one lady. Probably a mixture of the two.
This goes where?
As seen above, Analeigh not-so-surprisingly takes the cake on this one. McKey's jealous because she knows the prize would have been hers if she had kept track of time. She also shares this in a voice that has a bit of a British lilt to it. Huh? McKey, you should have kept the slightly nasal-Midwestern twang that I know you have since we're hometown buddies. Maybe then you could have gotten away with being late just because you're so cute and wholesome. Things that I regularly get away with for that very reason: getting happy hour extended an extra five minutes, returning things that I've lost the receipts for, and being forgiven for passing out in my friends' beds when I'm at house parties causing them to take the couch instead of me.
And now for some completely falsified fake drama: the next Tyra Mail reads, "You've never been exposed like this before, but you'll be amazed after." Yeah, I've heard that one before and it only worked the first five times. I won't be fooled again! The ladies immediately suspect a nude photos hoot and Sam in particular is quite nervous about this. She makes the weirdest voice I have ever heard when showcasing her vocal interpretation of what a trashy nude shoot would be like. No words for this one kids. Luckily, she gave us a bit of interpretive dance as well.
Where did you come from, where did you go? Where did you come from Cotton-Eyed Joe?

Ok Ive never posted before but have enjoyed this site and your recaps very much. I had to ask was anyone else shocked that Elina is only 18 I guess I hadnt thought about it before panel brought it up but dammmmnn girl you need to lighten up I thought they were being extra hard on her about the control issue but her age really put it in perspective!! my jaw dropped ...poor thing I hope its not to late for her to let go of all that control someday

Why oh Why oh Why after (how many seasons is it?) like 10 seasons, at least one girl CANNOT get back from the go-sees on time.
I too COULD NOT believe Elina was only 18, my gosh she looks at least 25.
And what's up with (one hunchback pose) Marjorie calling out Elina for not doing something different?

I'm so pissed at this show. Margie is ridiculous. "Chutter chutter" is probably the most accurate description of her behavior I've read so far. As for McKey, I just don't see it. To me she's just weird looking and kinda vacant, and what was up with the accent?
Honestly, I liked Elina. Her pictures were always good, and I think it's refreshing to see a girl on this show who doesn't sob about her awful childhood whenever Tyra looks at her cross-eyed.
At this point, out of who's left, I'm pulling for Analeigh.

I think it's a joke to keep Margie after she can't book a job, since that's kind of the point of the go-sees. They got rid of some strong picture takers in past seasons (Asburger's Heather comes to mind) just because they got flustered and could not book a job.
However, if Margie does screw around (here's hoping!), it will remind me of Shandi doing the same in Italy and getting yelled at by her boyfriend (the greatest scene in ANTM history!)
4 of 27 | Posted by slutty_whore | Posted on November 12, 2008 8:35 AM
As an FYI, my top 3 scenes in ANTM history are:
1) Shandi gets yelled at by her boyfriend in Cycle 2.
2) Tyra literally "flips her wig" and yells at that the one girl who's had enough in Cycle 4. Tied is the girl who passes out in judging and is basically saved from brain injury with her heavy-duty weave.
3) Anchal pretty much runs away from doing a challenge in front of the judges in Cycle 7.

to Slutty_whore, I agree with your list of top 3 scenes (even though I don't remember the one about Anchal) and I would add: Jade totally bombing the commercial.... That was priceless.

I meant Jade totally bombing the commercial in a bad way. It was bad.

Lisa- I wonder what happened to Jade. I don't think they've done any updates on her progress as a model.

Also Lisa- on Wikipedia, I found the info about Anchal...
The Girl Who Wrecks the Car
Original Airdate: November 8, 2006
The next day, the contestants headed to the beach where they met pro athlete and model Gabrielle Reece where she taught the girls the art of action modeling while they bumped, set and spiked to beach volleyball.
The girls got even more physical with NASCAR driver Stanton Barrett for a competition where the winner had to take their own shots using a remote controlled camera. Although accidentally denting Stanton's car, Michelle won the challenge and picked Amanda, CariDee, and Melrose to share her reward. Unknown to them, there was a reward challenge within the challenge, where the 4 girls had to act fast and don as many pieces of clothing within 30 seconds. Melrose won the prize of $10,000 worth of clothing and jewelry.
Back at the house, the tension between Anchal and Melrose reached a boiling point when Melrose accused Anchal of being childish and disrespectful to others, causing a visibly affected Anchal to retreat to her room.
For the week's photo shoot, the girls received their first Covergirl assignment, shooting for TruBlend whipped foundation, modeling as space-sirens. They flew at a skydiving training facility, where many contestants had difficulty expressing grace inside the wind tunnel.
During judging, the girls had to act out a scene derived from a verb and adverb randomly drawn from a box, including "swim frightfully" and "dance aggressively," where Anchal's lack of self confidence showed through, and where she eventually ran out in complete self consciousness.
Despite some of the worst photos from Eugena & Jaeda, Michelle & Anchal were in the Bottom 2 both due to their apparent lack of drive (though the judges had previously praised their photos and overall portfolios). Although Tyra praised Anchal's natural beauty, her lack of self confidence saw her, one of the early favourites, eliminated.
Bottom two: Anchal Joseph & Michelle Babin
Eliminated: Anchal Joseph
Featured photographer: Patrick Giardino
Special guests: Gabrielle Reece, Stanton Barrett, James St. James
CoverGirl of the Week: CariDee English

Based on go-see performance and any other kind of human-human interaction, I think Marjorie should have went. But since Elina's been in the bottom three for 2-3 weeks now, I think they kind of "had" to let her go (I believe this was Marjorie's first trip to the bottom two). I think Marge is next to go.
Not much else to say on this one. I don't really care about any of the people left.
Your comment about the canal boats and the waterglass floating in the tub = genius, and totally relatable!

Awesome recap!!
ohhhh Margie. This has gone way beyond being European, quiet, or shy - she is just socially inept. I'm sorry, but she can barely speak to people and she has a terrible runway walk. Her photos are some of my favorites, but unless she can book jobs by literally dropping off her portfolio and not actually meeting any designers in person, she has no chance. Look, I'm pretty good at cleaning up a mess and organizing but I'm also extremely afraid of spiders, even the tiny not-gross ones, so I wouldn't apply for a job cleaning people's attics, ya know!!! That's all I'm saying.
My favorite top model moment:
Britney late getting back to the office after go-sees and literally flipping her shit out! And Natasha: "Umm..some people have wars in their countries..." LOL!!! Priceless

slutty_whore- thanks for the Anchal reminder.
I hope they DON'T give an update on Jade, she'll probably just lie anyway and say she's a Huge Super Supermodel now. Blah...

LivingDeadGirl - Congrats on popping your posting cherry. Glad you enjoy the 'gasm so much. As for Elina being 18 - I didn't stick it in the recap because I already knew it from the early eps where they posted all of the girls' ages whenever they'd show them. So I wasn't shocked...
LisaMay - While Margie calling out Elina was very pot-kettle-black, I do agree that Elina was starting to overuse her version of Blue Steel
LAjane - Fingers crossed, we'll see the last of Margie after tonight's ep!
slutty_whore - Great point with the good picture-takers getting kicked out because they can't deliver in person. Even if Margie manages to hold on for dear life, she's definitely going to get cut whenever they do the final CG commercial because she's far and away the worst of who's left
msu11y28 - Agreed with everything. I'm so indifferent to who's left and Margie MUST go tonight!
carmelicious - So true. I'm starting to believe Margie might be one of those kids that I learned about in Psych 101 who had parents who kept them locked away in seclusion for their whole lives. There really is no other explanation - I've NEVER seen social anxiety to this degree before!

My comments may be colored by the fact that there is nothing about Marjorie that I find interesting, attractive, or likable...
I believe Marge should have gone home based on the fact that she was unable to function for the go-sees. And the ones she bothered to go on, she didn't get booked. How can she be a "top model" if no one wants to employ her?
Plus the hunchback thing is ugly. I still believe she has scoliosis and should be in a backbrace, not a designer gown...although that bizarre "designer" from earlier in the season would probably find a way to merge the two...much like he did with the curtain rod.
My money is on McKey to win...because at this point she is the least offensive.

Well, Hoolia, guess you're a pretty sassy AARP member then, aren't you!? Absolutely hysterical recap!!!
Wish I could recall all your fantasies about Nigel while naked in a bed with a rope, or at the edge of a pool, and then for that matter, wish I could add a few of my own!!!
Well, Elina bites the dust . . . whodda thunk!? I confess she was pretty lame this epi, and Miss Jay's imitation of her scream was sooooo funny!!!! I have a feeling she'll be in those updates one day. So interesting to see the ones who have moved on to be so successful, and makes me wonder about the unfeatured ones, like Melrose . . . not that I think she went on to stunning success, but I still wonder . . .
Don't have many favorite moments as this show is my junk food, and were it not for the recaps, and a place to air my view, I'd likely absorb even less--good call from all of you with your recall, and from the above, I agree with Carmelicious, that was a good one! I always like the photo reveals, and the better the photo, the more I like, like Jenna's shot hanging on the rope, thought that was an awesome one, and I bet she could be working . . .
I cry foul on McKey being late, very suspicious, and I think a set up-she has to be the one they were talking about, but . . . I thought Sam was so incredible this week, like Twiggy . . . she was so awesome with no make-up, I completely agree with Nigel that she should skip the mascara and go au-nat, she had so much more potential than I ever saw before, and I like her tom-boyish energy for the CG commercials . . .she's a better talker than McKey, accent or no (missed that, btw, glug-glug)
What did you all think of Sam?
15 of 27 | Posted by juddfan | Posted on November 12, 2008 11:48 AM
carmelicious- I totally forgot about that Britney moment. She was funny because she was so loud and inconsolable. And she was seething, but she was another damn good picture taker that couldn't translate it at go-see time!
As far as fave moments go, I should have also posted about Jael getting pushed into the pool by 50 Cent in the same cycle.... and then having to go meet with some guy to get interviewed. He goes, "Why are you so wet?" And she goes, "Oh, 50 pushed me into the pool." Classic, self-unaware Jael! Loves it!
16 of 27 | Posted by slutty_whore | Posted on November 12, 2008 11:50 AM
The difference between Elina's and Marjorie's unoriginality, is that Marjorie's always worked her hers. Elina's poses were boring, whereas the judges all seem to love the hunchback (or if they don't, they'll get kicked off the show since it was Tyra's idea).
17 of 27 | Posted by alex_w | Posted on November 12, 2008 12:05 PM
cattyfan - I was really surprised that no one reamed out Marjorie for skipping some of the go-sees entirely. But, as msu11y28 said, they probably felt they had to "let" Elina go because this was her 3rd week in a row in the bottom and she hadn't shown any signs of improvement.
juddfan - Have I ever told you how much I appreciate your long comments? You've been with me since the very beginning and love that you have something (almost always positive) to say every week. Kisses. Can you elaborate at all on how you think McKey being late was a setup? As for Sam... I do like her spunky, "who cares?" attitude, but thinks there's nothing about her that really, really stands out. Very pretty girl, very all-American looking, but I feel like she's not striking enough.
alex_w - Maybe because Margie rocks many versions of the hunchback, she's succeeding in tricking the judges into thinking she's versatile? Clearly, we see through her plan...
BTW #1, I checked my sister's yearbook the last time I was home to see McKey's senior year picture and you'd hardly even recognize her. She looks way more mousy!
BTW #2, I unfortunately admit to watching Lipstick Jungle out of boredom, but I think I caught April from Cycle 2 last week as one of Victory's models... she had a speaking part, too! In one of the backstage scenes. Anyone else catch this?
18 of 27 | Posted by Hoolia | Posted on November 12, 2008 12:55 PM
To me, McKey always seems like she's 30 seconds late. Like she sees something, and it just takes her brain that long to catch up. But I don't believe brains is one of the top requirements for modeling. To me she does look like a model at least.
Anyway, I think someone in the show mentioned that she was actually 5 minutes late or so. It's just stupid that they didn't let her win. An hour, okay. But 5 minutes? Give me a break.
I'm still gaga over Analeigh, so I can have no objective opinion over the rest of them.
I'd be more willing to accept a win from Sam, if she didn't open her mouth so much. Sure, I give her credit for speaking her piece-- I just wish she didn't sound like a reactionary idiot doing it.
Marge's body is shockingly horrible. She needs to eat.
I still believe that all Elina needs is a good lay. But she had no further business being there. And the tattoos...she never seriously wanted to be a model.

mckey spoke in a fake british accent randomly during the confessionals of this episode.. i know it was kinda mentioned in the recapt but WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT?? it was so creepy.. i just figured someone would make a bigger deal out of it lol

Did anyone besides me catch Analeigh and Sam on Big Bang (CBS) on Monday night? They had a cameo at the end.
21 of 27 | Posted by cattyfan | Posted on November 12, 2008 3:14 PM
sam looked SO MUCH BETTER without the bangs. I always thought she looked kind of stupid, but the bangs apparently just compound that.
also, i think that yes, Elina had to go because she was in the bottom 2 so often, but so was Whitney. but whitney was tyra's pet project so i guess that doesn't matter?
22 of 27 | Posted by whitney | Posted on November 12, 2008 10:53 PM
cattyfan - No, I didn't catch that - maybe it's the prize for next episode? They've done that before - Kim and Caridee won the ones that I recall. But they would they show it before this episode..?
Ah well.
I am so tired of Elina. I liked her in the beginning, but her attitude has been grinding on me for a LONG time. And her comment about how she deserved the challenge win sealed the deal for me wanting her ass gone NOW. I don't even care that Marjorie stayed and she went. I feel like Marjorie will go next, so I'm okay.
I think that McKey or Analeigh will win the whole thing. I have mapped each out accordingly.
McKey: takes stellar pictures, has steadily been improving, hasn't had any serious critiques from the judges (ie. Elina's stiffness, Marjorie's nerves, Sheena's hoochiness), booked all of her go-sees and hasn't been in the bottom two (I don't think.) Her downfall: she is terrible in commercials.
Analeigh: takes stellar pictures, has steadily been improving, hasn't had any serious critues, booked all her go-sees, hasn't been in the bottom two. Her downfall: I don't think she's as pretty as McKey, bare-faced, but she can do commercials - a HUGE bonus.
I dunno, I dunno. But I'm betting it'll be between these two. Of the two, I would rather it be Analeigh because she's not cocky and she's sweet. McKey has been letting her inner bitch loose lately and she seems to be a few apples short of a bushel, if you catch my drift.
So, Team Analeigh!
And yes, I noticed McKey's odd accent as well. Thought it was just me...
23 of 27 | Posted by georgiababe | Posted on November 13, 2008 12:21 AM
I know I am in the minority, but I like Margorie. I also really liked Elina. I was sorry to see her go. I HATE Sam. Well.. I hate her every time she opens her mouth. Her pictures aren't too bad. McKey is just so blah. I don't see that her pictures are SO much better than everyone else. To me she just looks like a poor man's Adrienne Curry.
And about someone who asked about Jade... I think she did a commercial for some spray on salad dressing a year or two ago. One where she was swinging on a big chair or something.
24 of 27 | Posted by Snootchy Bootches | Posted on November 13, 2008 3:10 AM
Thanks Hoolia for the shout out!!! Guess I'm a conspiracy buff, and it seems like, call me crazy, but they pull the front runner aside and say, "Hey Girl, you're on top, but we need it to be more of a surprise, so can you throw this competition and act dumb"
I thought with Carrie-dee they told her to throw the foreign commercial, because it was so ridonkly out of character for her to be that bad! There's been other's too.
McKey, I think, is the first girl to make all the go-sees and book them, and can't remember who, but someone said that someone is always late . . . that does seem avoidable, no!?
To me, this is the most even top group ever, including Elina, so it's anyone's guess, but I know McKey will be successful either way!

i just spent a cold, rainy day watching the top model marathon on MTV. and i just want to say god bless you, hoolia, for having to listen to Margie all season. she one strange and weird girl and not in a good strange and weird way. i wish that tyra had suggested fixing up her grill and that might help with her speech impediment, but the whining and lack of self esteem she needs years of therapy. probably modeling is not the best career choice for her. i can't believe you didn't quit recapping half way through when margie started getting more screen time.

Love this site and this is my first time posting.
Great recap.
Anyone think that Majorie looks like that child actor who was in The Neverending Story? I think his name was Barret Oliver. I swear I thought it was him when I first saw Majorie twitching and jittering all over the place.
