I have to say, I was so super mega excited for makeovers I had my shears and makeup laid out to give myself one along with the show. Unfortunately, I was a little disappointed by it. Actually, I take that back, it's incredibly fortunate. The other times I've tried to cut my own hair I scared the neighbors' children really badly and was banished to my room until it grew back. Let's look at the infamous makeover episode and see who got clipped, shorn, coiffed and goosed this week on America's Next Top Model!
The makeover show got here just in time!
The girls are all hanging out in different areas of the house discussing the competition getting tougher. In the kitchen, Victoria the Sea Nymph says it's hard because she just isn't a model. She didn't want it before, but now she does. You can tell this is pissing off the other girls because, hello?! Haven't you seen past seasons? You NEVER act like you don't want this more than anything in the world. You have to pretend not to notice the mounds of cash and opiates on that table over there and the strippers calling your name and that Bottega Veneta bag you've been eyeing for a lifetime but have never been able to afford, this is ANTM! Besides, if Bianca gets wind of you not caring, she'll personally see to it that you're 'taken care of'. She just seems like that kind of girl...
In another room, Saleisha and Janet are talking about how horrible it would be to end up in the bottom two. Saleisha declares that we'll never see her there. Ooh, could this be foreshadowing? Those sneaky editors!
Tyra Mail!!!! It talks about butterflies and metamorphosis, what could this possibly mean? MAKEOVER TIME! They girls are all really excited and scream and jump up and down and it's all very sorority. A few of them are a little nervous though, which they better be because someone's totally getting butchered!
They pull up the next day at the Ken Paves Hair Salon. Really? That's interesting. Although I guess after Britney dropped him before the VMA's and that Simpson girl stopped being popular it was only a matter of time before he started bottom-feeding.
Tyra and the Jay's greet the girls and Tyra tells them that she personally chose all the new looks. T-Bo, I know you're a former supermodel and all, but don't you think you should leave the hair choices to professional hair-dressers? Case-in-point, she used Barbie's Digital Makeover to show the girls their new dos.

Tyra then goes down the list of all the girls and tells them what they'll be doing. For Ambreal they're taking it off, Bianca gets Beyonce hair, Sarah gets her very own pixie-shag cut, Victoria gets highlights (lame!), Chantal gets yucko bangs and extensions, Jenah will have long platinum blonde hair, Ebony long and straight, Saleisha will look like a Beatle, and Heather hardly changes at all. Yippee!They tell the girls that after the makeovers are done they'll have a photo shoot showing off the new look. Victoria says she's going blonde, but she'll be a smart blonde. GET OVER YOURSELF. Seriously, the girl takes good pictures, but she needs to stop talking about Yale and how smart she is and how she's so not a model. Its starting to get on my nerves, nymph.
Halfway through the girls there are no tears and no drama. What gives? I was expecting at least one full-blown high school style meltdown tonight and will be mighty disappointed if I don't get it.
Apparently Ebony's wig glue is all up on her face and it literally looks like they are pulling the skin off it. She looks like she's in a lot of pain and I cringe for her. I won't pretend I know how wigs and weaves work, because I don't, but I think I can safely say I wouldn't want to have one EVER. Plus, she looks uber crazy without it.
Janet's hair is a bit darker and Ambreal's looks smoother, boring! Jenah thinks her new blonde extensions aren't as edgy as she is. Jenah, this just in: if you have to proclaim yourself as edgy, you probably aren't.

I like how bianca was sunflowers, yet she was surrounded by black eyed susans, also the haircut that saleisha got is way more tootie from the facts of life, than the picture of that girl from the 20s that they showed

seriously, those make-overs were TERRIBLE. i think almost everyone came out looking worse. i loved saleisha before, but now, wtf?? jenna looks scary and ebony's weave was better before. for the most part they either barely changed them or really made them worse off.

I either have watched way too many episodes of ANTM...or they're becoming too predictable. During my ANTM text date, I totally had Victoria called within the first 5 minutes for going home. The minute you utter "I'm not sure I want to be here" you've pretty much signed your "get the eff out of this industry" card. Sad....but not really cause she's annoying.
And I definitely had the Saleisha being in the bottom two once she made that ominous comment.
COME ON TYRA!! Give me a little suspense and drama this week...
I'm also in agreeance---worst makeover episode ever. Perhaps Beauty and the Geeks this week will be better.

I felt bad for Saleshia. They gave her a haircut that hangs in her face and where her bangs were way too long; and then they criticized her for loosing her eyes! Um, yeah. Wonder why that happened, geniuses!

I am SO disappointed,. And I totally agree Two Fives and a Ten, much too formulaic these days.
Not only were the makoevers not great, but the episode itself was WEAK!
Anywho, many apologies about the short recap, hopefully I'll have more to work with come Wednesday!

I don't think I have a favorite this cycle. All these girls are pretty lame, and I don't see what the big deal was with Victoria. She reminds me a lot of my friend's little sister who has a big face, jutty chin, but still thinks she's God's gift. Yikes.
Janet's sporting some man-pecs; that open dress she (accidentally *wink*) wore did nothing for her manly figure. Yuck.
So glad to be reading your recaps again, Pach! Wonder if the Two Coreys will put their sophomoric differences aside for another season just so you can recap that one again!

Agreed about Victoria Good riddance....
About Janet and her not wearing the same dress as everybody else... why do "zee judges" talk about making yourself different and stand out then totally bash them when they do try?? A little confusing.
I did have a moment of empathy for Bianca when she cried about her hair, yikes! I have had some bad haircuts whwen I felt like a boy...but she does have a beautiful strong face...she is somewhat humbled.
I agree about the predictability, ho hum.

In other ANTM news, seeing bald Bianca is the highlight of the season. Who knew that shaving a head leaks the bitch right out of...bitch?

Sorry I'm so late, I was out of town, but thanks for the recap. Horrible makeovers--Ebony's was aiight, but hated Barbie's bangs, Salisha, so not high-fashion--but she needed a slice of humble pie, I still like Janet, but she's like a foot shorter than the rest (Salisha's wee too) The WORST by far was Jenah--is that what she gets for good pix, so wrong, the cut the color the straw-ey nature, she needs dark hair period . . . . as to the rest, a bit ho-hum. That nymph was a snippy biotch, but I could see her doing perfume ads tomorrow. Forgot to say, poor Sarah, also pretty FUG, and I've liked her face--not a good move for the "real-sized model"
Heather is still shining and looking good to go far. will be hard to give Ebony a personality in a few weeks, but maybe she'll learn to act as if. Still like Lisa, but WTF, poodle curls . . . T-bo, hang up your making over self . . .
Ps. shoulda just gone bald with Bitchanca, she looks more fierce than evah!

juddfan - The CW has full episodes of ANTM on its website, so you could watch it on the computer. Also, the CW replays ANTM on Sunday nights, so you could catch it that way too! Just wanted to let you know.

Those make-overs were awful. What's with all the long porn-star type hair on these girls? I think maybe Tyra is purposelly trying to make these girls look not so good (so she'll look better in comparison).
I honestly didn't think that the "nymph" photo of Victoria that the judges all loved was so great. She looked scared -- that's supposed to be a good photo? Funny though how you can have the best photo one week and be sent home the next. But she didn't really want it -- she sort of reminded me of Elyse from the first season in that regard.
I still like Lisa and Heather the best.
