Newsgasm: The People Have Spoken! -
by B-Side
With today being election day in North America, what better opportunity for that most populist of awards shows to announce its nominations? That's right, The People's Choice Awards revealed its latest batch of noms, and as usual, they were a bit, uh, suspect. For instance, Cameron Diaz earned a nod for "Leading Lady," even though she hasn't been in a movie, you know, in over a year (according to the IMDb, her last release was September 2005's In Her Shoes). On the plus side, the nominees were announced by, among others, Neil Patrick Harris and Isaiah Washington, the latter of whom resisted the urge to start a brawl whilst in the presence of a gay man. And honestly, isn't that what The People's Choice Awards are all about? Not middling taste levels and a warm embrace of Middle America, but total, unadulterated acceptance and toleration. Huzzah!
