Oh yeah, where's Starbuck?
The verdict's in. After the much-needed schpeel on flawed justice and human error that differentiates humans and machines, the vote is read: 3 - 2... NOT GUILTY! Whoa. Baltar just pooped his pants. Is the Admiral one of the three or a dissenter? Mayhem breaks loose and Baltar is rushed away from the court a free man.
Baltar, so close to getting a one-way air-lock ticket to space city is back to his ass-y ways. Lee gets in his face and tells him not to push his luck, while the trusty cool lawyer parts ways with him. He tells Lee he's "an honest man" unlike his grandfather, then put his stupid sunglasses on and walked out cane-less. Bag of tricks, that one. I thought more would happen with the whole grandfather/shady lawyer storyline. Maybe soon?
Roslin is fuming over the verdict, and is shocked to learn that her Admiral Ally voted for the acquittal. Adama's not getting any now. He blew it big time. Next stop: Ionan Nebula!
Helo's aforementioned storm seems to be brewing... the lights are flickering and that damn song is playing in the heads of the final four. The ship is on batteries only mode and the crazy legion of those who have been drinking Baltar's Kool-Aid kidnap him. Six is in the opera house again (do Athena and Roslin see it too?). Baltar's there and so are the five faceless cylon shadows. YES! We are going to find out right now... right this minute... I'm pulling my hair out... and noooooooope. Not one.
Cut back to Chief on deck. Everything's in slo-mo and he's hearing special songs again... "Must be some kind of way out of here"... huh? Tigh hears, "says the Joker to the Thief..." wait. This classic has stood the test of time! Though it's not Bob Dylan or Jimi Hendrix, just one of the million covers out there... it has the sitar twang and future beat, but the lyrics are undeniablely "Along the Watchtower".
Tori hears, "I can't get no relief..." So the cylon-trigger song is "Along the Watchtower", WAY better choice than "Relax don't do it..." Where are they all going? Is there a fifth hearing the same tune?
The final four meet: Col. Tigh, Anders, Tori, and Chief. I correctly picked UCLA, Florida, Georgetown, and Ohio State in my Final Four brackets (go Florida!), but I was WAY off for these Final Four Cylons. I kinda suspected Anders, because of his likeability and hotness. I thought about Tigh as a cylon, but the age thing always got in the way. I never, ever guessed Tori or Chief. They are in as much disbelief as I am and all decide to go on about their work as if no strange song brought them together in the first place.
So, they're cylons? They are cylons. Tigh explains he's had 40 years in the service - the exact amount of years that the cylons stopped communicating with the humans. So it's possible he was the very first cylon/human model created and implemented into humanity. Also, it explains the mysterious apology from D'Anna when she saw the final five faces in the Temple. If Tigh is resurrected, will he still only have one eye?
Sam, Tigh, and Chief all led the resistance on New Caprica, while Tori has been a loyal aide to President Roslin. What. The. frack?
Meanwhile, Lee is back to being Captain Apollo. He's in flight when he sees a bogey. And who's manning this bogey? Dun, dunnn, DUNNN.... Starbuck! I got serious goose-bumps when she turned and smiled. "It's me. I've been to Earth and I'm going to take us there."
Oh my gods. OH my gods. Oh my gods. Love this show.
Is Apollo hallucinating? Is Starbuck the fifth cylon? Or could it be President Roslin? I'm going to internally combust. Just when I thought all the surprises were over, BSG gave me one more sucker punch to the face: "Continued in 2008"... nooooooooooooooooooooooooo!
I still think this season had its duller moments, but only because it's held at a much higher standard than anything else I watch. The last two episodes made up for anything the earlier episodes were lacking. But 2008, seriously?? Arg. No matter how much time passes, I'll be there eagerly awaiting the Season 4 premiere.

there was speculation in the forums that D'Anna could be apologizing for the eye-gouging he received in cylon prison...even though i think it was the quantum leap-cylon who did it, she could still feel pretty bad about it, since he's a toaster too.

i think D'Anna was apologizing to Anders because she almost killed him in the parking garage back on Caprica.
i really want Tigh to be a toaster--i just don't think i can wait 9 months to see what happens next.

awesome finale. awesome song! My jaw was dropped for the last ten minutes.
thought: roslin may be experiencing the cylon dreams because Hera's blood was used to save her, so she has cylon/hybrid baby blood in her.
also, if you read the lyrics of All Along The Watchtower, you could say that the colonists are the "Joker" and the cylons are the "thief". the last verse also says "two riders were approaching". ...starbuck and apollo?

Man, Tyrell could have kept his Cylon ex-girlfriend.
And I guess the president was right in season 1... Tigh SHOULD have been tested before his wife. That will bring her a lot of comfort, I'm sure. ;)

WOW what an ep! I have been reading your recaps since you took over, I've just been completely behind on the series. But this was just a GREAT ep. The all along the watctower thing was like, walking the borderline of corny but then as the cliffhanger swelled I totally got sucked into it. Really great ep. And when Laura Roslin had tears streaming down her face while Apollo gave his direct, I was just floored. What a great show.
nothing till 2008!?!??! ahhhhhhhh

Now this WAS the Best show of the season(wasn't the last show of the Last season the Best?) Now wasn't Lee hearing the music too??
BTW: I have to say that the actress playing Starbuck is not remotely attractive in any way I can see. Trust me I get the whole "strong woman" angle but Sharon and Six are both attractive so why her? Oops, I digress...

ok, Well.. I think if the 4 Watchtower sleepwalkers are Cylons, then Starbuck has got to be the 5th.. and Ronibuni.. I think Starbuck's the hottest thing on the show.. damn, she can have me any day.

Ithink the final 4 cylons are tehre to try to help the humans, because the scriptures did say this happened before and will happen again. Even in the interview Ron said that they were different. So maybe tehy were placed there to help the humans and the 5th has gotta be starbuck. she blew up..remember. But i think the final five isnt all about the warfare and destruction of humans like thier counterpart cylons. dunno my thoughts anyways....i got goosbumps tho when TIGH's lil speech to the final four about where his loyality and duty lies. I dont care if hes a drunk and mad at the world. After New Caprica he has become one of my favorite characters.

What makes you think the Admiral and the President haven't "done it." I think they did it on New Caprica. Rosalyn admits to getting a little silly that night, they were both hammered, they woke up together, right? They've been real close since then. Touching each other's faces and whatnot, calling each other in the morning. It seems likely Adama was told, probably the first person told, that the President's cancer had returned. I'm just saying, I'd give it better then 50% odds something happened.

It doesn't come as a surprise, but still it's disappointing to hear that the upcoming fourth season "Battlestar Galactica" will definitely be the last.
Stars Edward James Olmos and Katee Sackhoff told The IESB at the Saturn Awards Thursday night that the SciFi Channel will officially pull the plug on the show following its fourth season, which begins in January.
Olmos says "This will probably be the most extraordinary season of 'Battlestar'. It's the final season, so it's definitely going to be the most vicious. As far as we know, in respects of the way we have this show constructed, this is the final season."
Sackhoff says "I think part of the problem is that it's an expensive show. It is [a great show], but we don't have the viewership that a great show should get."

So, I knew about this whole BSG revival a couple of years ago, and even watched an episode here and there....maybe 2 or 3 in the past few years. With Kids and Job etc...I'm really busy and don't have time to watch TV anymore. Then last week I was sicker then a dog and was plowing through the channels when I stumbled upon Sci-Fi playing the last 3 episodes of series 3. I really had no idea what was going on but being pretty bright I caught on quickly.
Wow, what have I been missing. This is one put together show. I know based on reading this review that the last episodes of this season were some of the best. Let me tell, since watching those last 3 episodes I've been on the net reading everything I can to come up to speed and I've actually got the old TIVO set to record BSG this season. I'm impressed and will be renting season's 1-3 on DVD to try and catch up...time permitting.
