To the staircase we go and it's time for Mario and Nadia to announce who is being sent into the Elimination Room. Mario apparently had his balls cut off that afternoon because he chooses Sheree and Piao. Nadia then tells everyone she thinks they're all great but has to send in Andrea and Matt. And my jaw dropped lower than Matt's when he saw the naked model. Shocked. I'm shocked.
Andrea is pissed off she is getting sent in, and I once again find myself agreeing with her. It does seem kind of unfair that the two girls who studied the hardest are the ones who could be going home. If only Mario didn't get castrated, things could have turned out differently.
Sheree gives a speech as she packs about how they're setting a bad example by being so cliquish and childish. Yup Sheree, it sucks, but you and your forehead might be leaving. If only you were white, things might have been different.
And to the Elimination room we go!
The girls each go a perfect two for two when they answer questions about aeronautics. I'm almost positive that everyone but Nadia wouldn't have gotten them all wrong. During their questioning, Andrea makes a comment about them being the best two teams, which doesn't seem to go over well among the teams watching from upstairs. If Andrea doesn't go home tonight I'm pretty sure she'll find herself back in the ER again next week.
The Geeks are up next. Paio misses his first question about manicures, Matt correctly knows Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's daughter's name, Paio correctly answers a question about purses. So it's up to Matt's last question:
"Michael Korrs is best known as a hair-stylist, fashion designer, interior designer, or composer?"
Matt apparently watches Project Runway as he correctly answers fashion designer and Paio and Sheree, the remaining non-white people in the house are sent packing. They leave us in a montage of them bickering and bickering, and bickering a little more.
Now that all the minorities are gone, who's next to go? Can Andrea survive not being in the Gaggle? Will Matt's lower jaw ever reattach itself to the rest of his face? With new makeovers in store, will Nate and Scooter hook up?
What did you think of this week's episode? Are you as angry as me that the only people who tried studying were sent to the ER? Are Nate's Red Crocs as awesome as I think they are?

Ummm...still reading your recap, but I just thought you should know that the theme song is a Pet Shop Boys song. So in reality the writers found an existing song that fits fairly well with the theme of this show. I would actually hate to see what they might have come up with had they tried to write something. And anyway, I am not one to bash semi-obscure 80's awesomeness.

Beat me to it RachWho. This was the major 80s gay disco new wave topical song. Darn, I love this show. Why must it conflict with FNL? At least I have these great recaps.

As RachWho? points out, what appears to be a stupid theme song is actually brilliant use of Pet Shop Boys song. It also reminds me of how incredibly old I am to instantly remember that.
It's not unfair for the teams with the two "smartest" women to be up for elimination (aside from Nadia); it makes sense in terms of the competition. Choosing both ensures that there's one less strong team to compete against. Perhaps instead of having his balls cut off, Mario's practicing a little strategery.

Did anyone else pick up on the irony that Piao's boob drawing looked strikingly similar to the Hooters logo? Shree (a Hooters waitress) was offended by it? Do you work at Hooters then sit there & act appalled with men's obsession of breasts? Guess you do if you're Sheree.

First of all, if Nadia and Mario were thinking strategically, it would make sense to put the brunettes up against each other - they are much smarter than the blondes. I will deeply miss Piao and the bickering between and his lady. Also, I love the idea that it is as difficult for the boys to remember the naked model's first name and favorite movie as it is for the girls to give tours of the air and space museum.

a few observations-
i am very disappointed with no mention of ceci's foreshadowing of their task. "i'm in trouble if we have to give a museum tour" or something to that affect. very funny.
mario called nadia out on the comment about not wanting to send her good friends to elimination. he said something about having only known them a few days.
and finally, how interesting that sheree's good plan from last week (don't piss off the good teams by sending them to elimination) backfired on her.

so I really loved seasons one and two of this show, but so far i HATE this season, the girls on this one are so obviously there only to b on tv and not to get to know any of the guys, it's sad b/c if it keeps going like this I will have to stop watching and I bet so are a lot of other people, there's no point in having this show if no one's going to change,
really these bitches are annoyine me, there's so many pretty girls out there who are dumb, but at least they're nice and willing to try, sure tristin from season 2 was a moron, but at least she tried, lets hope it gets better soon

hmm, I clearly did not realize that was a Pet Shop Boys song when I wrote this recap...how that makes me long for the wonderful music that the 80's produced.

Did the producers think of the show after hearing that New Wave goodness of the 80s?
I was sad to see Sheree go, despite the forehead. Piao is an idiot and gives all Asian geeks a bad name. In fact, he reminds me of this guy I knew who'd snicker at words such as: hooters, boob, Lake Titicaca, etc.
The fact that she actually studied for the author interview was quite impressive, even though they didn't give her much screen time showing her reading. On her post-show interview on KTLA 5, she tried to emphasize that while she did in fact work at Hooters, she did go to school and has some impressive career aspirations.
Listen to me, I am defending a reality TV show contestant. What has this world come to?
And despite Mario losing his ahuacatls, I guess they played it right by trying to know off one of the known strong teams. Or should I say, girls that actually read. I quietly root for Super Mario and Nadia because he's got a cool tattoo and she's kinda hot.
