Cold Dirty Bastards

bigbrother7-11-06So, it's been four days since our first episode of Big Brother. I am not sure why CBS decided that we didn't need a Sunday episode and I hope that weren't too many of you that went into withdrawal. I myself did OK, but if it wasn't for the live feeds, I probably would have chewed my nails until my hands bled. Any disappointment that may have lingered because Julie Chen refused to say "but first!" has been exceeded by the pure joy of the return of the show. Jase and Janelle set the tone by nominating two very strong players, and I can feel the intensity building already.

First week Head of Household competitions are always difficult. On the one hand, the HoH is the only person (or people as was the case this year) who was assured not to leave the house. On the other hand, being the first to nominate anybody will put a huge target on your back, and in a house full of master schemers, you have to think that eventually somebody is going to hit the bulls eye and get you voted off of the house. Being completely honest, you can't blame Jase or Janelle for their nominations. Alison and Danielle were clearly the people who were gunning for them, and you never want to set the precedent that you are a weak HoH. Alison and Danielle deserved to be nominated.

Now just because I may agree with a strategy doesn't meant that everybody else is going to agree. Danielle barely knew what do. In all of her time in the Big Brother house, she was never on the chopping block. It's sort of like going through survivor and never hearing your name during tribal council; a little luck and a lot of savvy can get you a long way. Stuck in this unfamiliar position, Danielle said that she is going to wait for Alison's mouth to get her in trouble. Luckily for Danielle, Alison was more than happy to oblige.

Alison decided that she wanted to go up to the HoH room and find out right away why the two of them were targeted. This is always a good idea, because you get to have chance to discuss things with the people who nominated, but Alison probably hurt both of them by having Danielle tag along. It doesn't take a lot for people to assume that you have an alliance in Big Brother, and if Danielle is up in the HoH demanding justice for the nominations with Alison by her side, of course the two of them are going to look like partners.

In the HoH room, Janelle and Jase explained that they were looking at getting rid of Chicken George first, but when they learned that Alison and Danielle were trying to break things up so the two HoH's would be on the block, Jase and Janelle turned the tables and placed the blame on them.

Danielle's whole strategy is to sit back and let others do the dirty work. Unfortunately, the first people she told her strategy to is Alison. When Danielle first tried this strategy with her partner Jason in Big Brother 3, he was able to take her instructions and the two of them were able to wreak havoc in the house without anybody knowing. In Alison, Danielle finds herself with a partner that has no subtlety to her game, even when she's sleeping around with people to get her way.

Anyway, Danielle tried to say that she was only throwing out scenarios for the game, and the only person she told as Alison, so she doesn't know how this rumor could have spread around the house. Alison says that the only people she told were Mike Boogie and James. Now, replays showed that Alison was already lying because she told almost everybody in the house, including JASE, the person who was nominated. Alison was so sure that Jase would be up for the plan, she assumed he would go along because she assumed everybody was gunning for the sixth season cast members.

Alison and Danielle are about to leave, when Danielle awkwardly sticks around. For a person who only a few minutes ago said she admired Alison and thought she was a good player, Danielle sure looked ready to throw her under the bus, and that's exactly what she did. Danielle said she talked about that scenario only to see which way people were leaning, and not because she wanted to target anybody. She said that it was Alison who wanted her to choose sides, and although replays showed that Danielle was correct, it looked to be a case of somebody desperately trying to cover her tracks.

Alison should go. I have always hated that nasty bug eyed trash.

I could not believe what Jase was packing there, I think it was a sock he borrowed from Howie.

Dr. Will looks like Dracula.

Chicken George continue to show his mental retardation. I guess CBS was concerned they would get slapped with an EEO complaint if they did not have someone handicapped in the house. Oh well, its the way it goes in corporate America!

My very favorite moment was when Will told Howie that he had never had a retarded friend--and Howie seemed to just blither and drool in response. God, I think I'm beginning to LOVE hating Dr. Will instead of plain old hating him. I'm a season six fan all the way, but that evil dude is just too fun to watch.

I'd be so sad to see Danielle to go in the first week, that would suck incredibly.

Seeing Jase in that speedo made me feel like I had just eaten fish chum.

And thank you for the RTBWMS shout-out...Rosie jokes are always welcomed, and that is still my favorite recap and clipgasm ever.

GO Janey Go !!!! She is my fav and I hope she wins the whole thing this year.
Hate Alison and Dr Will..so of course I hope Alison goes quickly. I do respect Danielle for being so smart, but she cooked her own goose this time. All the others are ok and I hope there is good competition all season. What is up with the HOH room? They did a quick look at everyone filing down the stairs at one point. Is the HOH open to anyone? I think in earlier shows the HOH room was off limits unless you knocked and were invited in by the reigning HOH. Any feed back on this idea?

Tony A. Author Profile Page:

Season six portrayed Janey as a dumb blonde at the start, but she revealed her intelligence and competitive spirit as the show developed. Had it not been for the Friendshits she would have won the show hands down. I love the fact that there are no games being played this time; she's out to win at all costs. Love the way she was able to insert enough doubt in Jase's mind (what there is of it) that Jase eschewed Danielle and Alison's ploy.

Howie IS dumb and sexually confused. I do believe he would like to have some man love. And although I jate Will's cockiness, I have to admit he plays harball and sneaks in some barbs that hit the mark. His dig at Howie, while cruel, was priceless, seeing Howie's face trying to figure if he had just been punk'd or not.

As much as I hate Danielle's initial self-assuredness, seeing as to how it backfired, Alison's perfidy is far more hateful, so I hope she's the one to go Thursday. Her blatant lies and treacherous behavior are infuriating. Naturally, the entire house is aware of her methods from her previous stay, so they're onto her and there's no way she's going to sex her way forward. I think she'll be gone first. I'll relish her comments when she hits the bricks.

BTW, how low under the radar is Kaysar flying? Man, for the most loved guy ever in the show, he's sure been a non-starter!

Whew! Loved the episode. Sure as hell hope Alison goes.

Loved Howie last nite - I agree Tony A. - there is some sexual confusion going on there.

Ahhhh Big Brother in full swing, Project Runway starting tonite - my summer can finally begin!!!

I love how Jase tried to play off his lack-lustre veto performance with the tried and true "I didn't want to win, anyway" line.

As for Alison - at first I thought it would be fun to have a designated "bad guy" to hate on, but honestly I can't take her for one more minute. At least Danielle is clever; Alison is just hateful and jealous. I guess she knows America loves Janie and the only way for her to be in the "reality star" spotlight is to be her enemy.

I'm hopeful the anti-BB6 alliance will remain flimsy; I don't think I can handle another Us vs. Them war like last year, especially so early.

JasonR Author Profile Page:

God, I love this show. Although my faves remain Kaysar and Janelle, I think Dr. Will is a great player and just fun to watch. Jase continues to act like a rational and semi-intelligent human being. That's not what America voted to bring back for All-Stars! Someone take him off his meds.

The reason Allison hates Janey so much? That's obvious. Janelle is everything Allison aspires to but will never have: looks, personality, intelligence, athleticism & the love of the BB audience.

TimOD Author Profile Page:

Alison's gone. Everyone in the house thinks they're the smartest person alive(not counting CG). They all think they can outsmart the next person, so a physical player is more of a threat in thier eyes.

jack Author Profile Page:

kaysar was the same way last year--quiet and passive; it took the bullying of cappy to bring out the iraqi assassin. i'm sure we can count on dr. will to push his buttons before long.

typically, it's smarter to lay back for the first few weeks, but no player is perceived as a greater threat than janelle--everyone knows she's great at comps and has a strong alliance, so she really has no choice but to play balls out (remember when we all thought she was a tranny? oh, how a year can change things). let's face it: janelle's goose is cooked as soon as any non-BB6 player wins HOH or veto, so we should all enjoy her hot bod and killer competitiveness while it lasts. as pathetic as chicken george is, and as much as people might be afraid of dr. will, janelle made the right call, and hopefully alison will be the first to test the new chenbot post-game interface application on thursday. danielle is lethal, but she'll play to win, not to settle a grudge (besides, we all know alison's hatred of janelle is pretty much all about envy).

i guess this year is the 'summer of no secrets.' i love that the scheming has kicked into overdrive so early, but these people know each other way too well. i must again pay grudging respect to jase's early game-play. the guy could go far. in BB5, he seemed preoccupied with preening for the cameras (no doubt hoping for that elusive sit-com role cowboy was always blubbering about), but thus far he seems focused on the game. thumbs down to marcellas, who has done nothing but bitch non-stop about danielle. get over it already, you big ol queen. it was your own damn fault anyway. i'd think they were in cahoots if marcy weren't campaigning for dani to be the 1st out.

b-side, congrats on making 'house calls.' good things seem to be happening fast now that y'all have come out from behind your pixelated masks. you're like the opposite of KISS when they ditched the makeup. i foresee some face time with the chenbot in your near future. kudos, boys--it's been fun watching tvgasm blow up; may the success continue.

"Why does Alison hate Janie so much?" Do you really have to ask? Janie is EVERYTHING Alison wishes SHE was. Beautiful. Popular. Loved by all of America.... need I go on?

As to who I'd like to see go. Alison definitely. Couldn't stand the girl the firs time around. Hate her even more this time. And the fact that she's representing Ohio this time instead of Pittsburgh makes it even worse.

Chris Author Profile Page:

Well, I too hate Alison. However, I am very afraid that at the last minute she's going to pull something that will allow her to stay in the house another week. This has been such a long week for the houseguests, I bet with enough time, she could stir up something and Danielle would get the boot. But let's hope not!

HoneyBunny Author Profile Page:

Best sub-plot this year is the Pasty Will/Crazy Howie love affair. The zingers between the two of them are hilarious:

Howie: "Get me a waffle, William."
Will: "I'll put your face in some dough and make gorilla cookies."
Howie: "This guys got a line for everything... You'd be funnier with a tan Will or any pigmentation at all."

AliSlut wants so badly to be #1 - I say make her the First to go!

You know its weird. I don’t like Jase. He’s a preening pretty boy idiot and from the feeds you can tell he’s not smart. Plus one of my pet peeves is muscular guys who feel the need to walk around without their shirts s on at all times. But this season he is much more toned down.

Alison’s evil bitch stuff was all shtick. She wants some of that Janelle fame so she’s trying to create the “Janelle’s arch villain” persona. Whatever. I think when she leaves on Thursday she is officially the most unsuccessful reality star ever. Booted out of AR in episode 3, allstars in episode 1. Take the hint. Go away.

Janelle’s nipples need to be the fifteenth cast member. And what I love most about her besides her rockin bod, is her pug nose.

Will is grotesque. Its not just the skin. It’s the tiny nipples and botoxed forehead. He’s just odd looking.

I know I am in a minority of one but I want Alison to stay. I love watching her being jealous, thwarted, bitter and catty. If she goes on Thursday then I'll have only had 2 episodes of it.

And I think Danielle is more of a threat. Alison's "(non-)strategy" so obvious now and it's unlikely any of the guys this season will fall for her shtick. She was rubbish in the veto contest too - so much for her so-called atheleticism they all seemed to be scared of. Danielle's much more of a brain.

Loving the Howie/Will relationship, though I'm not sure who has the upper hand - they were doing a lot of circling of each other, both literally and metaphorically. But Chicken George disturbs me. He's like one of those "harmless" smiling guys who everyone thinks is so nice. But then he wakes up and guns down a family for no reason, while still smiling. Watch out!

BaskEtcAse Author Profile Page:

Wasn't Howie all over another guy last year? For the life of me I cannot remember which one...Beau??

derder Author Profile Page:

I actually kind of like Dr. Will and I can't quite believe it myself. I find him oddly fascinating. He has this unabashed arogance, as if he lives in his own little bubble. Some of his comments to Howie are mean spirited however, and Howie needs to learn to bite back. I know Howie isn't exacly the brightest bulb, but he knows when Will is being a prick. He just pretends it's all in good fun, but I think deep down he knows Will is jerking him.

Allsion makes for great BB TV, but I pray she's gone next week because if she stays- she is going to go after Janelle with a dangerous vengence.

I am still uncertain about Erika- she seems like a wolf in sheeps clothing.

And poor Chicken George, this guy really seems to be out of his league.

And where the hell is Kaysar??? Haven't heard a peep out of the guy. And he and Janie definitely seem to have cooled off.

derder Author Profile Page:

By the way, what in the hell is "Fish Chum"?

how am i supposed to hate alison when she's all decked out in buckeye gear?!

oh yeah, she's alison.

EdHill Author Profile Page:

Copygodd, I felt the same way about Alison. Why couldnt she wear a Michigan jersey?

Derder, fish chum is basically fish guts and blood.

Since i've only ever seen BB6 (thank you TVGasm) I'm loving that the Fab Four (too lame?) are back!

But I also like watching..er, listening to Dr. Will (didn't he win his season? can he not afford an occasional tan?) and I'm looking forward to seeing the other personalities get involved soon too.

I'm worried for Janey and the other BB6ers since they're the big targets so early on which is making the show super intense for me already!

Love BBAS!!

PS. I always thought Kaysar and Janey would make a cute couple.

"Wasn't Howie all over another guy last year? For the life of me I cannot remember which one...Beau??"

Yep - it was Beau...

When Pasty Will found out that Howie had french kissed Beau, he asks Crazy Howie if he's bisexual or homosexual.

Howie says he's straight. Just because a guy fixes a few toilets doesn't make him a plumber.

Will decides Howie is try-sexual. He will TRY anything.

Alison's got to go - while they're both dangerous players, everyone seems to hate AND distrust Alison, while they only just distrust Danielle. And, I'm tired of seeing Alison as this is now her third reality show that I know of.

Did anyone else notice that reddish mark near Janelle's collarbone when she was wearing her bikini? It looked a lot like a hickey...

HEy guys, so good to finally have a show to comment on, seems it's been forever.

thanks for mentioning Project Runway starting, I may like that better, merely because I can't stand so many of the guests here. Jase makes me ill, though he seems more tolerable, Mike Boogie--yeah, looks just like the one I pulled out of my nose, only with headbands! Dr will, I can appreciate, but he's trying too hard.

Allison, she can go, I'm with the 3 shows is 3 too many!!!! Anyone who goes after Janey has to goooo!!! I love it that Janey seems to be a fave here (BB6 was before my time here)

I do like the Howie/will affair, that Howie is a twisted one, and I do think he's more gay--did you all see the blind date item. He can close hug the girls all he wants, I think it's for show.

I did notice Kaysar's almost complete absence all episode, and I do miss his closeness with Janey, but I'm okay with him laying low for now if that's what it is.

The producers don't seem to know what to do with Chicken George--how did he beat Bucky? Or Evilette, or even the cowboy!? hmmmm.

I think I like it better when they clear some of the people out . . .we'll see!

Go Janey!!!

Sorry this is off subject, but if any of you were fans of Surface, they have cancelled it and there's a petition at this link if you'd like to sign it. thanks for your help--they always cancel the good ones! Harummph!

Great re-cap as always!!!

My 2 cents:

I think the houseguests will vote Allison off. I get the feeling she has an inner-hatred for just about everyone in the house, and will lie and backstab any/all of them to get far. I reallllllly don't see Danielle doing that, I see her joining some kind of alliance eventually (like in her 1st BB season) and going far. She seems more "loyal" (i use that term very losely!) than Allison, so she will find a nitch.
Plus Allison is just a bitch!

It will suck for the viewers, but will benefit for the houseguests if they get rid of Allison.

PS Chicken George is the most annoying member I have ever seen on the show! I do think he can be manipulated and played like a pawn though, so I see him sticking around for a while.

Has anyone ever wondered about how the name tags (like on the dumpsters in the Veto challenge) get there? Do they just make signs for everyone in the house, and then quickly put them up before the houseguests get outside?

I was a huge janey fan last year but now I can't stand her. I can only take in so much blondeness.

Also, I really couldn't stand Dr.Will and now he's one of my favs-what gives?

AppleBlossom Author Profile Page:

I don't like Janelle. I didn't like her last season, though I warmed up to her a little toward the end, and I don't like her now.

I didn't watch seasons 4 and 5, so I don't have an opinion on Alison and Jase, but a lot of people here have been saying negative things, and they both seem kind of dumb.

Does anyone else remember Will being kind of attractive his first time around? He's really creepy looking now and kind of scares me. I wonder if his arrogance is all for show -- if he's playing a character called Dr. Will -- or if he is like that in real life.

As for Chicken George, I wonder if he was the only person from season 1 who wanted to come back. I actually really liked Season 1, and he is the only person from the first two seasons I didn't want to see return.

Big Brother is way too addicitive.

I was happy to see Cappy's cracked face on that cube in the dump heap. I would have tried smashing the cube even though there weren't any veto rings in it.

Fuxy Author Profile Page:

Can't stand Janelle. America is dumb. We'll fall for anything as long it comes packaged in blonde hair and porcelain veneers. Sheesh. I don't know that Janelle is smart. Or nice. I think she's really FORTUNATE. I also think that with the flip of her blonde bird's nest, she can get anyone more stupid than herself to do her dirty work for her. Sure, in Season 6 she didn't backstab anyone. That's because her lapdogs did it for her and she went along for the ride. I prayed she wouldn't get voted back in the house. Not only did she get voted in, but her name was called first. Then, I just felt the chunks rising in my throat as I listened to her prattle on about how she wasn't surprised she was voted back in. Ugh. Bitch. A dumb one at that. She waved the "I'm a threat" banner loud and proud in Season 6 and it got her ass thrown off the show. She hasn't learned a thing. Right away, she's already one two challenges. EVERYONE is going to want her off. There is no way she's gonna win the grand prize....unless her lucky streak continues and she keeps winning all the challenges! Could happen, but I hope it doesn't. Arrogant banana nose. OMG, and if she wears that stupid S&M Swiss Miss outfit again, I'm gonna put my foot through the screen. Howie is also another nerd trying to play it off like he's so hot. I can't stand Will, either, but he has certainly been effective in humbling Howie. Actually, I can't stand Jase and his nightmare-inducing Tom Cruise smile, either. Yeah, we get it, you're muscular. Now put your fucking shirt on. I have no earthly idea why Erika was put back on, either. She incessantly flips her hair, talks in that whispery voice in hopes of putting out a sexy, mysterious vibe. She's just THERE. Good at flying under the radar and riding everyone else's coattails, but essentially, good for nothing. Ugh, I don't think I like anyone in the house, now that I'm thinking about it. Or, I have the flu and I'm just being a bitch. Probably the latter. I guess I'll have to cheer for Kaysar. Maybe he's too peaceful and virtuous to win at this game, though. Who knows? I'm sure this is gonna be a drama-filled season. Oh shit. It's almost 3:00 a.m. Should probably hit the hay.
