Marvin Wows America With Genius Sixth Place Strategy

marvin_sitcomAs we get down to the last few weeks of this season's Big Brother, the game grows more and more intense. What many considered the last two forces of evil in the house, Natalie and Adria, were evicted from the house and Julie Chen promised us another eviction this past Saturday, meaning three people would have left the house in a span of just nine television days. Marvin did the admirable job of nominating Adria, and the house voted her out unanimously. As Adria left, Marvin had enough of her bible references and called her out on the idea that anybody could consider the two women separate players. With all the good Marvin has done for the house, we all waited anxiously to see how the rest of the house would reward him.

As you might of guessed by reading some of our other posts, we here in the TVGasm offices really like episodes that feature Julie Chen, even if the Chenbot is subject to certain malfunctions. So when we heard there was to be another eviction Saturday, there was an audible cheer, as we all wondered how Julie would be able to outdo herself when it comes to the post-eviction interview. You can imagine our satisfaction when we saw that Julie had fashioned yet another outfit from her discarded six-pack plastic rings. Last time she the plastic rings were in the form of a red dress. This week, the plastic rings appeared in the form of a black blouse. Next week, perhaps a white skirt? Only Julie and her wardrobe person know.

Drew won HoH on Thursday, and he had the unenviable position of having to make his nominations in the space of just three hours. We have watched all season how Drew's head goes into explosion mode whenever he has to make a difficult decision. He stops, stares, and his eyes seem like they are going to roll back into his head and explode. Drew is thoroughly upset with Diane and Marvin over their intense relationship, which was culminated in a kiss that wouldn't have passed the gossip test on a kindergarten playground. The obvious question on everybody's mind was how would Nakomis and Karen handle being on the block, because it would clearly be in Drew's best interest to nominate the strongest player in the house and her biggest ally. Drew was thinking something similar, but he believed Marvin is the strongest player in the house and his biggest ally was Diane, as evidenced by their smooch, so they got the nominations.

Now, I have been decrying the moves some of the house guests have been making lately. Everybody was in such a tizzy to get rid of Adria and Natalie, it seems that everybody forgot that, at this point in the game, you need to be even better looking two or three moves ahead. The person who has done this the best is often the person who ends up winning. Marvin, who was clearly the most entertaining contestant this year, had not mastered that art. You could see it early on when he hitched his wagon to Scott and Jase, and later managed to get himself nominated three times in a row. Early on, I could see how it would be difficult to go against Scott and Jase. But this week, Marvin had a chance to look a few weeks ahead. He nominated Adria, who everybody wanted to get rid of, and Michael, a person who has not liked Marvin's actions for a long time. Hindsight is always wonderful, but Marvin made a stupid play. Nakomis and Karen are the power couple, and Diane has proven in the last couple of weeks that when the chips fall, she is with the girls and not Drew. Marvin could have secured Adria's allegiance by keeping her off the block, since she was offering a deal to anybody who would listen. Adria was evicted, eliminating Marvin from a possible position of control with Adria. Adria would have been enough to convince Michael, and they could have a chance at keeping Drew in their alliance. Instead, Michael is upset with being nominated and to top it off, he kissed Diane, which the pissed off Michael went and told the now pissed off Drew. That leaves Marvin with exactly no allies in the game, not an enviable position to find yourself.

Awesome ReCap J-Unit.
I thought Marvin was smart enough to use Logic over Emotion. If he'd allied w/Adria, he'd still be in the house.
Let's just ditch the BB House & go straight to the Jury House! ooooooooowwwwhhhh, there's gonna be plenty drama up in there! I hope they have security on the premises, I'm afraid they'll all kill each other!

CBS must do a sequester house episode. I really feel like there is a demand for it. If they don't have enough material, maybe they can do like Big Brother outtakes interspersed.

And I agree that Marvin didn't think far enough ahead. The biggest problem people have is that they're so immersed in the game, they don't ever look at the numbers and the alliances and put it all together. Adria was actually right when she said that without Natalie, she's not powerful anymore and should no longer be a target. Marvin was dumb by thinking he could hitch his safety onto the Diane wagon because of everyone in the house, she's changed her mind the most often. drew should ahve taken out karen and nakomis also because when push comes to shove, he's a goner too.

If Nakomis nominates drew and diane, and cowboy votes to evict diane and karen votes to evict drew, we'll have a very interesting show, and i don't think drew will survive.

I don't fault Marvin for getting rid of Adria. I don't think Marvin could trust her to keep her word. If she was staying, it would be Drew, Cowboy, and Diane that she would be most loyal to, in that order.

Marvin should have been safe since Drew should have realized that Marvin will try to get rid of the gals and align with the "Van boys". If Drew was smart enough to remove a gal, any gal, then he would pretty much insure he was in the final three, as Marvin has had a target on his back for a long time.

Also of note, Drew destroyed his last alliance also by putting up Holly when that would ruin them having the numbers. Drew = teh dumb.

Thanks for the re-cap. I really needed it. I lost power at 9:05 due to the hurricane, just as Big Brother was starting. So this is all news to me.
Wow, so Marvin is gone. Hmmmmmm, I definetly think they need to do a sequestered house episode, that would be a riot.
And what's up with Julie's 6-pack wardrobe? She must have a relative whose clothing line she's trying to help out.
Damn I can't believe I missed it!
