Wow, can you believe it's been only a week since the last Brat Camp? Yeah, well, it's acutally been two weeks because last week was a two-hour Peter Jennings retrospective. Thanks for paying attention. But in that two-week period we haven't exactly been brat-less (or is it Brat Camp-less?), because our troubled teens have been all over the news. First lovely Jada plowed a speedboat into a family in MA, and then "Angry Punk" Isaiah was caught scrawling racist epithets on a neighbor's home. Something doesn't make sense here. I mean, they were given hippie names! What else could they possibly need!? Yeah sure, I suppose you could go the "traditional" route and say that "years of therapy" would work better than 40 days in a commune being followed by a camera crew, but that would just prove that you're a total square who just doesn't get it, man. Now pass the doobie.
This week's episode starts with the camp counselors, "Flying Eagle," "Mother Raven," and "Honey Pie" (Wait that last one is actually a Beatles song; I meant to say "Fire Bear") deciding who can stay and who can go home in time for the Holidays. Holidays? In August? Perhaps they are referring to Labor Day, or the Celtic holiday of Lughnasadh? Or maybe even the International Talk Like a Pirate Day? (Celebrated every September 19th in my household without fail. Arrr matey!) Of course not. Remember, we are on reality TV time where everything is 4 to 6 months behind. We're talking about Christmas 2004.

I watch the show. I'm not comfortable with you making fun of these kids who have real issues and are somehow dealing with them my being in the middle of nowhere with people with weird names. But if it works for them, I'm glad. But on the other hand why are they on tv?it seems too private and personal to be on tv, unless...it's all for.... Money! Now I'm wondering who sold out who.
And that kid who tried to stab his twin I kind of like him, I think they had the wrong twin in counselling.

Derek, Nick. Nick, Derek. Who can tell anymore.

I love this show, although I am not sure we should be watching it! I definitely think some of the kids are just putting on a show for the cameras. But I really do think Sage Walk has done a lot of good for Lexie and Lauren and Shawn and Nick. I agree--Nick's twin is the one who seems to be the cause of most of his problems. I just want to give Nick a hug!

This recap is funny as hell! I stopped watching this show a few weeks ago, but I was in the TVgasm neighboorhood...you know, looking at the recaps, checking if the Real World recap was up or maybe if someone had done a Battle of the Reality Network stars post and I said, hey I'll just read this recap just for kicks. So glad I did!
Favorite parts: the bowling jacket reference and mental image provided of counselors smoking a "doobie" Priceless!

EdHill, "I think my hair just spontaneously dredded itself." Ha! HA!
I hope you're planning to do more recaps, cause this was the best I've read in months.

You KNOW Nick was already going home. What was the crap about, "We're not sure yet"? Were they going to tell his family to drive down from Seattle and wait around to see if he got discharged (or whatever they call it there) or not? I don't think the family would be too happy about it with the price of gasoline nowadays.
Dunno why they decided to torture him with all that "you might be" stuff unless it was a little sadistic game they had going because of a special dislike for him.
Also, Jada needs a good smack down.

Great name, Platypus! The summary made me feel better about this horrendous show. BTW: Two of the kids aren't going home for more than a short visit -- they are off to more of the same (but indoors), at therapeutic boarding schools. Wonder if they get to keep their earth names? I like Jada -- she's the only one not giving into this pseudo-therapeutic crap.

good recap. but there are some names to get straight. Nick is the one who tried to stab his twin and left brat camp on wednesday. Derek is the youngest little pansy who wants his mommy and cant finish the hikes.
