Cooper is introducing Justin to his class, while Sarah takes pictures. Cooper's teacher bears a striking resemblance to Mary Cherry and I keep getting distracted by imagining her with that awful southern accent. And then Cooper says this:
"What's really cool is that Justin gets to live with his mom and he doesn't even have a job and he doesn't have to go to school or anything. He just hangs out and plays video games all day. Oh, tell them how you defeated the piranha player (?) as mini-Mario!"
Heh. The first graders think this is awesome, of course, but Mary Cherry and Sarah are both cringing and Justin looks like he's going to jump out of the window.
When we return form commercials, Kevin is dreaming again and Scotty offers him some Merlot, which Nora immediately starts yelling about and they're struggling with the glass of wine and did I mention that Scotty is wearing a WWII medic uniform? Because he is and it's hysterical. And hot. Rawr. But Kevin is still trying to find that damn crying baby, who is not in her crib. He wakes up, disturbed.
Robert's office. Kitty informs him that he will not be backing the immigration bill, but Robert sort of wants to because then Espinosa will owe him or something. They start arguing and apparently this is supposed to be sexy because they shut the door and start mauling each other, but I'm just not really seeing it.
Robert then shoves Kitty up against the door, which was in the preview for this episode, but it implied it was Kevin shoving Julia up against the door (!), and I almost called boo on the Promo Monkeys for such a blatant misdirection, but then I saw the rest of the episode and well ...you'll see.
Tommy and Julia's. I'm glad to see that little Elizabeth is handling her invasive surgery so much better than her adult uncle/bio-dad. I mean, Kevin can barely sit up and here she is, sitting on her own and playing with her toys. Anyway, Julia wants to know what they're going to tell Elizabeth about all of this drama, and Tommy just looks at her like, "Why am I the only one not making a big deal out of this? I'm her father!" And I totally agree. If the sperm donor was some random dude, it's not like they'd have to sit her down and tell her all about that. I get that it's awkward, but come on, Walkers!
She does bring up a couple of valid points I guess - Elizabeth may notice that her and Kevin have the same scar or someone might let something slip. If she ever starts asking questions, Julia wants to be prepared. And, yeah, I see her point, but I also get Tommy's frustration with the whole thing.
Walker Manor. Scotty is gingerly changing Kevin's bandages and Kevin wants to know why they aren't in their nice apartment. Scotty reminds him that he accepted Nora's offer to stay there, which Kevin doesn't seem to remember. She probably offered when he was barely conscious after the surgery. That would be so Nora.
And you know, Heaven forbid these two be allowed to get legally married. Because obviously if we allow two boys to get married, who knows what will happen. What with the loving and adoring relationships and the long-lasting marriages. We clearly have got to put a stop to that.
Nora comes bustling in and starts in on how Scotty used too much ointment and the tape isn't sticking. I'm shocked he hasn't slapped her yet. She then informs them that Kevin will be taking a shower, despite the fact that he has fresh bandages. Kevin doesn't want to take a shower, but the doctor said he could today, so to Nora, that means he will be showering this very instant. Scotty tries to take over, as she's trying to take Kevin's clothes off, but Nora will not be deterred. And then she says, "Lift your butt up, I'll take your pants off. Lift your butt up, come on, lift it up." Scotty's face: Whaaaaaaa?
Oh, Nora. You do not take off your grown son's pants when his spouse is right there to do it for him. Honestly, what is wrong with you??
