"Happy freakin' Mother's Day!"

Hello beloved readers! Welcome to the VERY truncated recap of the VERY elongated season finale of Celebrity Apprentice! As much as I love to rip on these egomaniacs, as much as I love tearing apart Donald Trump's fluctuating notions of "morality," and as much as I love coming up with much better methods in which tasks can be won than the participants come up with, three hours of finale is simply too much to ask of a mere mortal. It simply can not be done. At least not on my watch. Luckily for everyone involved, much of these three hours is filler. For the sanity of me and those around me whom I love dearly, I will not be recapping anything this week that I deem filler. We shall discuss the grand final challenge and the grand final Boardroom and dispense with all else. Away we go!

The Donald greets us from the Museum of Natural History, which just so happens to be rife with metaphors. As he mentions legendary comedienne Joan Rivers, he strolls past a dinosaur skeleton. Take that, Joan! Or will the winner be her opponent, the vicious professional poker player Annie Duke, and he steps in front of some life sized models of flesh eating sharks. Wow, the Apprentice writers are certainly on a roll tonight.

"I will now proceed to the baboon exhibit to talk about myself."

He tells us that the finalists hate each other and we should get down to business. Then he magically steps from the Museum of Natural History onto a live soundstage that is broadcasting into our living rooms right this very moment. The announcer introduces The Donald as New York's number one attraction. Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! I know the first time I visited Manhattan, I forgoo the lure of Broadway and the Empire State Building. Nuts to the Statue of Liberty and forget Times Square. I hopped in the first taxi I saw and requested to be taken immediately to Trump Tower so that I could get a good long look at that world famous attraction, Donald Trump. It was amazing. The Donald makes a brief introduction and takes this opportunity to let us all know that his show has been picked up by NBC for a ninth season. Good grief, here we go again.

We now have a big long look at what has transpired this season.

Joan and Annie end up in the VIP lounge following last week's Boardroom and Annie tries to make some kind of statement to Joan and Joan will absolutely not have it. She talks over Annie and cuts her off, refuses to let her speak and tells her that they shouldn't be childish. Well that was gracious. These two are both awful. I would not want to spend any kind of time with either of them. Ick.

Playing with dignity.

Snootchy Bootches:

We all know that Joan has had some work done. She hasn't exactly kept it a secret. But even given the fact is obvious, she STILL looks fantatistic for a woman who is nearly 80 years old. She has kept her figure as well. Good for her. And, yes, she threw some tantrums, but I sort of didn't mind. The thing about Joan is that you always know where you stand with her. She isn't a backstabber. She will tell you to your face why she loves or hates you. And not only has she been verbal with those she didn't like, but she was very verbal with those she did. For example, when Hershel got voted off, she said some wonderful things to him and said she was going to write his mother as well.

Now Annie? That woman has made her living from lying, backstabbing and manipulating. And it shows. She is a vile human being. I laughed out loud when she tried to say that poker wasn't gambling. Oh puh-leeze! And the fact that she knows EVERYone and EVERYthing just gets on my nerves. And lets not even mention her narcissism which causes her to take credit for everyone elses work. Oops, guess I just did. Did you hear how she spoke to many of the poker players who gave her money? Clearly she is in a position to have some power over them in the poker arena. She intimidated them into giving money. Because you know if anyone had said no, she would have screwed them over as much as possible in the future. What a douchebag.

The right person won. Period.

scottywrangler:

I totally agree with Snooty. On everything.

Thank you for forgooing so much of the SRAP and getting right to the point, Honey!

And Donald, you are a smarmy, gross human being. I'd still pay to see Jesse kick your butt.

soapboxx:

I can't stand to look at Joan's face. She looks just like that Madam puppet that one ventriloquist uses. Whoooo scary! The event planners "quitting" was totally scripted. Amazing how Joan just happened to have a giant Kodak frame to walk thru and Annie who's not from NY was able to come up with all the extras. I feel most sorry for Melissa because when Joan does pass I can't see her having anybody. That reminds me Annie saying Joan "should just die" was way out of line and as bad as the Hitler reference. I only watched the last hour & 15 because I knew that would be all I could take. The whole reason they had the event people fold was for drama, usually they are planning huge outdoor events that require alot of physical work and sometime's mother nature's interference. This was alot less grand than previous finale events. Still it was all for charity but did anyone else notice the stock footage during Annie's charity spiel of the guy with long bangs and bad teeth? His pic seems to be in every "help Africa" request. How about the royal pompous "here comes the king" trumpets when The Donald exits the limo and starts up the red carpet. What a puff ball! Thanks for the recap!

idax:

i can't figure out why i watched every episode this season, when i kept finding myself hating it. and in the end, my hatred shifted away from annie and more toward joan. what an awful person, or was it just an awful performance?

donald trump has no morals. either that, or was it that the final "five criteria" were set-up so joan would have a shot? annie killed her and everyone else in fundraising, which is what i thought was the purpose of this show. what a joke! annie got screwed, not that i care much, b/c i loathed them both.

i'm left shaking my head and wondering wtf just happened, and again, how i watched this entire season!?! it was awful.

i'm sure i'll watch season 9, so we'll see you there honey! lol. thanks for the recaps!

idax:

OH, and i can't BELIEVE the way donald basically told jesse to "shut up" at one point. how disrespectful. totally ridiculous. i wish jesse would have punched the schmuck. donald's bum-kissing of these cheeseballs really is pathetic. "oh i love you, oh you're great, oh you're beautiful and talented, but you're fired." dumb.

cattyfan:

When it was convenient this season, Donald trotted out the excuse that it was "all about raising money." He, in fact, used the specific excuse that the final task would be all about fund-rasing to terminate several players (including Jesse.)

Then in the final task, not only were the last two players given helpers who had connections to raise lots of money...Donald then threw out the concept of "all about the fund-raising," adding other (very subjective)criteria to give the game to Joan. Does Donald really think D-list "comic" Kathy Griffin trumps Joe Frazier???

Based on the criteria originally cited for winning (before Donald changed the rules,) Annie annhilated Joan. But since I hated both of them I don't really care.

cattyfan:

A few more points: Annie did a better job incorporating Cirque De Soleil into her party, and you couldn't even tell Joan was raising money for a charity. So really, what Donald was saying was the most important part of this task was not "fundrasing for charity" or even representing all sponsors, but shilling the new Kodak products.

What a bunch of crap.

oywhatnext:

For the first time since he committed suicide, Joan's husband Irving stopped spinning in his grave saying to himself "I was right. What a couple of twats!"

Snootchy Bootches:

oywhatnext: Low class. Seriously.

Cattyfan: Yes, actually, in this day and age, I bet Kathy Griffin is a more recognizable name than Joe Frazier to a great number of the population. Not saying it is right or anything.

And one final thing to no one in particular: Joan did NOT call Annie Hitler. If you go back and see the episode, Donald said Annie seemed nice and Joan said "so was Hitler." The inference being that anyone can "appear" nice when they want to but still be doing not nice things. That is not the same thing as calling her Hitler, in my book.

cattyfan:

Hmmmm. I'm only 42, and I would be more likely to recognize Joe Frazier than Kathy Griffin. (And More likely to want to talk to him.)

But again, this is a great example of Donald changing the rules. This was, after all, Celebrity Apprentice. If professional poker players don't count (and Annie had a large number of them in attendance,) then how could he consider Ms. Duke as well known enough to qualify for his show? And Mr. Frazier is certainly more recognizable than the female golfer or Brande (neither of whom I'd heard of before this show,) or a model from Deal or No deal.

bugmom22:

The only reason I continued to watch this show was because of Jesse James. Unfortunately, the Donald seemed more enamoured with Jesse's wife than with Jesse and he was unfairly booted. Nuff said about that, and I will soon recover from being suckered into watching this WHOLE season.

As the Donald has suckered me out of 2 hrs of my life a week, here are my thoughts.

Annie Duke is a vile human being, who apparently gives amazing blow jobs (yeah, right), can raise her 4 kids, cook amazing meals, AND play poker! Quick! Call someone who gives a shit. It would have been more impressive if Trump managed to talk Phil Helmuth into being a competitor. People at least know who he is. Ugh!

I'm happy Joan won. (Her husband's name was Edgar, not Irving). While she's not the classiest lady out there, her brashness and piss and vinegar attitude is at least coming from a heart of gold. I find nothing so redeeming in Annie Duke.

That being said... I curse the name of Donald Trump and his questionable ethics for stealing my life from me this season...Until next year, that is.

The recaps made it all worth while.

Snootchy Bootches:

cattyfan: I'm nearly your same age, but I am the opposite. I would be far more likely to go see Kathy Griffin than Joe Frazier. I guess mainly because she is funny as hell and I don't really give a shit about boxing. Besides, Kathy Griffin isn't really on the D-List... that is just the name of her show. :p

natpatben:

At 27, I'm much more familiar with Kathy Griffin than Joe Frazier.

I thought Annie deserved the win, but was happy that Joan got it.

pixielated:

Annie attended MIT and nearly got a Ph.D. in Psycholinguistics. She's a brilliant woman but a bit of a psycho-linguist, I'd say. And I think she's had some work, too.

I still like Joan because she has a big mouth and a sense of humor and doesn't always calculate what she says. I would say that is pretty much the opposite of Annie.

I don't think playing poker is lying, backstabbing, and manipulating. It's a game, first of all, and secondly, it combines probability, game theory, and psychology. I can never understand why players get mad when someone bluffs; isn't that part of the game? I do agree that a better-known poker player would have been more interesting, but give her credit, Annie could play the game.

IMO even if Joan HAD said Annie was Hitler, wishing Joan would die is much worse. Everyone sort of knows that nobody's as bad as Hitler (except maybe Stalin, Mugabe, and that sort), but Joan certainly could (and will) die, possibly soon.

Robinez:

How can Annie get so much money everytime....

Lets see..How many times have you heard a woman on a national tv show pat herself on the back for doing a good job.

No,not the apprentice job,this job starts with a B.

Hey,I am not saying thats how she got so many donations from mostly,if not all, men.

Well,hell,maybe I am..

R

cate:

Annie may not be a saint, but she is fun to watch because she's a high energy, creative person. No one on the show came close to her money raising abilities and creativity. Joan on the other hand was a total pain. Her ideas were outdated and she could not have been more unprofessional. Constantly cutting Annie off and talking over her showed incredible rudeness. It was Joan who was vile. Donald was never going to sack her, or he would have done it weeks ago when she proved herself to be ineffectual. Annie was the true winner here, on many levels. Watching the last few weeks of this season was a complete waste of time. Something I will never repeat.

Snortles:

I'd do Joan. I figure she's like a bowl of cereal I'd like to hear her snap crackle and pop.

J-Mo:

Thanks HoneyGangsta, I have so enjoyed this season with you. I'm happy for Joan, because she employs drag queens at every opportunity and drag queens are very close to my heart. Plus, she used to say some of my very favorite words of all time when I was a child... "Faster than a rolling 'O'... stronger than a silent 'E'... able to leap capital letters in a single bound... it's a word, it's a plan, it's LETTERMAN!"

love to you, I'll be checking in on the Bachelorette...

love, J-Mo :)

Mr Dangerous:

Annie's a tough cookie and she was a GREAT adversary for Joan.

I found it interesting that with the exception of Jesse and Brandee everyone thought Joan should win. With Annie raising so much money --- what's up with that?

The answer: She's not very likeable.

In the workplace I've encountered way too many women like Annie which is why I could never get behind her. The workplace dynamics are what I like about The Apprentice and why I continue to watch.

Thanks for the great recaps HoneyGangsta!
