I noticed the "crack" disappears about halfway through. Wonder if it went directly into Pee-Wee's pocket.
Dead wrong. My mother always used to say that you can be "dead right". Good times.

Pee Wee's playhouse was such a great show. The media screwed him all those years ago with all the coverage of his misdemeanor arrest. Sad!

I don't think I will ever forget Pee-Wee Herman appearing onscreen only to say in the most somber voice he can muster- "This. Is crack." Hilarious.

OMG, this is genius! That ominous droning noise, the opening verite-style shot, punctuated by those lights that seem almost menacing, and then Pee-Wee in full-on Pee-Wee mode but at the same time, completely, deathly serious.
And I totally agree, poor Pee Wee was wronged. But things were a bit different. You couldn't just show up on SNL or Leno laugh it off and get a complete exoneration back then. And man alive, am I sick of celebrities doing that.

I'm not saying PW didn't deserve to be arrested...but it sucks that he came up with such a cool, funny, innovative show (LOVE the Adult Swim reruns!) and he's only remembered for...well, you know.
According to IMDb, the show was canceled a few months before the incident. So it was also basically bad timing.
But anyway, thanks for the blast from the past! Ah, the 80's--with its paranoia of crack and child molesters (remember all the anti-kidnapping stuff? Do they do that in schools anymore?).

I remember the news coverage on PeeWee. The North Korea test missile launch got less coverage than PeeWee. Then, the religious right jumped on the bandwagon too, he didn't have a chance. It was tragic.
Paul Ruebens did appear recently on an episode of the Oxygen network show, 'campus ladies'. He played an acting professor, he was great!

Its been 20 years since I heard this joke: Can you name two people who were shot in the head while attending the theatre?
Answer: Abraham Lincoln...and the guy sitting in front of Pee Wee Herman
