Excusegasm: UMNATA Sucks Edition - TVgasm

by Umnata

dummies.jpgIt was bound to happen sooner or later - after a summer filled with way too much TV (remember reruns?) and too much school, work & nonsense - I have fallen hopelessly behind on my recaps. These last few weeks several things converged causing a Perfect Storm of chaos in the usually laid back life of Umnata - the most pressing of which was a sudden relocation from the TVgasm satellite NYC office to its new and improved Long Island office. This in of itself wouldn't be enough to drag me away from multiple TVgasms, but the temporary loss of my DVR would and did! Don't worry Sherry is back (Sherry? My DVR's name - in honor of the Steve Perry song "Oh Sherry" - is that weird?) and better than ever. So I throw myself on the mercy of the gasm, it's readers and all five of my adoring fans (thanks Mom!!!). I'm here to say that now that I'm all squared away with my big move and caught up on Kyle XY (come on, I can't be the only one who is watching? Cricket.), I can jump back on this horse and TVgasm like I've never TVgasmed before!

Entourage is up to date with this week's recap coming ASAP. I know I'm REALLY behind on Rescue Me, so look out for a Previously On... rundown of the last two week's events with a full-length recap of Tuesday's episode being posted VERY (uncharacteristically) punctually. As far as America's Got Talent... the comments have been, how do I say this... hostile. Not only do most of you hate the show - you hate me for watching it, and by God, you are right. I'm dropping it, unless you want to convince me not to. Yeah, didn't think so. There you have it - the answer to the question that was on nobody's lips - Where is Umnata? Please forgive me gentle readers. Please be sure to send hate mail here.

"Oh Sherry"?

Jsut the best music video EVER. God he was so passioante on those stairs!

for my money, you can't beat their work on the video for "separate ways."

it's almost as if they were really playing their invisible instruments; air-bass and air-keyboards have never been more believable...

don't believe me? check it out for yourself: separate ways

Umnata, keep up the great work! I love your Entourage recaps! And honestly, I read your America's Got Talent recaps. In a move heretofore reserved for B-Side, I read a recap to a show I not only didn't watch, but wouldn't watch with a gun to my head. Bravo sir!

I'm watching Kyle XY too... is that sad??

"I'm watching Kyle XY too... is that sad?"

As long as you're watching it for the unintentional humor that each episode provides, I'd say you're safe.

umnata, this is my first post...i had to second bsl. i don't watch america's got talent but love your recaps - please continue if you have time! love your entourage too. thanks for the laughs.

Oh copygodd, you just made my day with that Separate Ways video. Might I also say that "Separate Ways" is an excellent, excellent karaoke song?

Now I keep going back and forth between Oh Sherry and Separate Ways in my brain. Thanks guys!

Well, in the interest of full disclosure the original name was going to be Foolish Heart
.

I was wondering: “wass umatta with Umnata?” Now I know. Keep up the good work!

"But you know that there's a fever
Oh that you'll never find nowhere else
Can't you feel it burnin' on and on"

what exactly was he talking about again?
should he maybe go to a doctor?

& look, he's even moved up from the air-guitar days of separate ways to the god-like broom-guitar zenith of '80s music video.

My favorite part of the "Separate Ways" video was the keyboard inexplicably bolted to the outside wall of the warehouse, and also the constipated look on all the band members' faces.

BTW, since we're talking cheesy videos from the 80's, did anyone catch "MTV Day One" on VH1 Classic? It was a complete replay of MTV's first day of broadcast on 8/1/81 in honor of the 25th anniversary. Amazing how some videos (and music) held up so well (early Pretenders in particular), and how god-awful the rest was (lots of one-hit wonders, and many many cheese-tastic Rod Stewart videos)

Hey, the recap on August 8 show disappeared when I tried to post a comment. Here it is:

Well, aside from the truncated plot lines, like Franco's, this was a good episode. I especially liked the ending with Tommy's speech to Stack. Very touching and oddly appropriate. Not everyone can bear to be in a wheelchair, or spend a day at the ballpark playing third base (literally).

You messed up this sentence: "Johnny tells Tommy that if he ever sees him lay a hand on Janet again, he will kill her. And he's totally SERIAL".
Johnny threatened to kill TOMMY, not HER, Umnata. And, as long as I'm correcting, the disease is Tourette's, not Turret.

I do thank you for returning to the lands of "Rescue Me" and "Entourage", though, both of which are favorites of mine.

I don't think Lou will go off to Florida and Probie will somehow stay in the house. I do hope they resolve Keela's kidnapping. Jerry's going to get it on with the Jamaican nurse and Jeannie will be dealt with soon.

I'm still crazy about Sheila, Tommy rape or not. I now think the asshole deserved it.
