Asshat shows up on Coach's doorstep to congratulate him, and also to snark that everything worked out exactly the way Coach wanted. Come again? Asshat says that this is the first time he's ever been screwed by another coach and that he knows Coach had something to do with it. He also reminds him that he has a family, too. Ouch. Good point. He says he'll be seeing him again. I predict this will be something of the Voodoo Tatum variety, wherein this guy will come back later on in the season as the coach of a rival team or something. Or he could be back next week, I don't know. I don't watch the previews. Either way, Coach shows up the next day and starts coaching the Panthers again. Huzzah!
Interesting episode. I can already tell that with Coach finally around, there will be much adorableness and hilarious awkward parenting with little Gracie. I look forward to that. And maybe we'll be seeing a little more of toned-down, normal Julie. I'm quite worried about my Jason, though. He's gonna get really hurt either way here. And that whole Coach Asshat thing - just another brilliant way that this show illustrates the gray areas of every single potentially favorable event. There's no such thing as an unambiguously happy ending.
What do we think? Would you rather have the stem cells of:
a) a shark
b) a bear
c) Keith Richards

Loved the screengrab of Gracie, that was hilarious!
Great recap... can't wait for Riggins to come home and see Lyla's new "project."

Don't have much to say. Your recap pretty much covered it. Just wanted to say after a shaky start with the whole murder thing, FNL is off and running. No sophomore slump in sight, and definitely no sophomore slump for you either, SP. Great recap!

I missed this episode and wanted to read your recap before I watched it online. It is so funny and I am definitely looking forward to watching it!

Another great reacap.
I too, was amazed at the hilarious scene karoke scene, and how the tone shifted within 2.3 seconds. It reminded me of why this show is the best on television.
Ditto on the comment about the other coach. we were ALL rejoicing that Coach was back, and then we saw the family in the car behind Coach Asshat. It was really sad, but then I saw the "let's have some fun" speech at the Panthers practice, and I was happy again.
Shark Stem Cells? Seriously? That is hilarious. Can't wait to see the new ep this week. :)

Antoher great recap.
I too was amazed at the karoke scene witht the tone shift. I am glad you mentioned it... one of the many reasons why this showw is the best on TV.
I am also glad that you mentioned the coach thing at the end. Once again, I was rooting for Taylor the whole time, and then at the end it showed Coach Asshat's family. I was sad for about 2.3 seconds, then I got really excited when Coach started practice.
Can't wait to see how the season plays out, now that things are back to "normal". Not that there won't be drama, but I think this season was missing the football/school connection, and I think that we will see a lot more of that now that Coach is back.
Oh, and I peed a little when I saw the Gracie screencap. Fan-freaking-tastic.

Once again, great recap, wonderful episode!
Everything was covered in people's responses, so I'll just mention the Gracie screencap....A-W-E-S-O-M-E!!! I laughed for a good long time...it rivaled the cheerleader-mowed-down-by-the-football-team video! HA!

Great Recap! One little thing I wanted to mention: not sure if any one else caught this, but I thought it was hysterically ironic (and likely intentional) that the writers had Jason singing La Cucaracha in the Mexican bar, seeing as the first two lines of the chorus (which is the part he sung) translate to "the cockroach can't walk anymore." Subtle humor is the best.

You and FNL are firing on all cylindars.
Good-night, Gracie!
