So between George's intervention, Yang's stuttering and Izzie's non memory, Grey decides there is just no time to get married today. She shares this with Derek who is like...let's just do it here. The two of them share a super sweet moment where they promise to love each other forever. They both sign a little post-it, stick it in Grey's locker and kiss. It is super sweet and I officially love Mer and Der again. Although after 5 seasons I think we deserve a little more than that.

So it's intervention time and everyone is ready for George. But the Chief lets him know that George left for the day. He left hours ago. Intervention interruptus. Everyone is upset with the Chief, and the Major is thrilled now that he isn't the only male in the doghouse.

Meredith checks in on John Doe after his surgery and lets him know that he has a fan for life in the girl whose life he saved. He once again takes her hand and tries to tell her something. She finally understands what he wants to do, and lets him spell out on her hand. He slowly writes 0 0 7, and after a minute Meredith realizes it's George. I think my neighbor just heard me audibly gasp. Meredith rushes out screaming to let everyone know that the mystery man, is George. Ironic that they have been overlooking him all season, and then the day that they all focus on him....they don't even know its him.

Meanwhile, Alex wants to celebrate with Izzie that her memory is back but while he hugs her she flatlines in his arms. He frantically tries to help, but they remind him she signed a DNR. He continues to freak out, and I really don't blame him. I mean...she was just fine like 3 seconds ago. Get the paddles! The Chief rushes in and says to screw the DNR. The hospital's reputation is bad enough without letting people know that even the doctors are dying. Plus its not like they ever follow rules anyway. They continue trying to revise her when we fade to a different scene.

There Izzie is, back in the old prom dress, getting in the elevator the way she did the night Denny died. She takes the elevator up and when the door opens, it's not Denny waiting there...it's George. Looking SMOKIN! She hesitates for a minute, she's about to get out of the elevator, but she stops and looks back at the number. Is she ready to die....(read, is she ready to negotiate her contract) is she going to stay....(will she stay another season?) And that's it. So we have no answers.

I thought the finale rocked. It made me love Grey's again. I have literally come full circle this season. Do you guys think Katherine and T.R. are coming back? I think at this point they don't even know yet. Honestly. But overall it was a crazy season. Thanks for sticking it out with me! Sorry the recaps were so late sometimes. Till next recap have a great summer!

I loved the episode! I was so shocked when that turned out to be George!! And he did indeed look HOT in the Army uniform!!

Oh, and they called him 007, because he had lost some patients (season 1 or 2) and the others were teasing him that he was like 007 because he had a "license to kill"...

Great recap!!

Clair:

I gasped out loud too when George wrote 007. Definitely SMOKIN! in that uniform. Yummy.

I keep thinking that if T.R.Knight wants out of the show, they could still have George but with another actor (like, Tobey Maguire, perhaps? Same build, height, similar face & voice), because with the disfigurement's requirement for plastic surgery, it'd be believable.

pixielated:

I heard that TR Knight is indeed leaving, so I imagine that his character dies. That was the implication, I thought; that he was dead and she had to decide whether to join him.

If she kisses enough ass, she'll probably stay but on a reduced schedule. She is a bankable film star, and she could be in, say, half the episodes as she goes through rehab.

The finale totally rocked. And, one way or another, we've seen the last of Dead Denny!

Malbec31:

LOVE the Flowers in the Attic picture! I almost spit out my wine I was laughing so hard...

fire@will:

Maybe the best episode since the first season. Some great surprises. Add me to the list of gaspers (and I seldom get surprised like that. George wlking into the recruiters office was another good surprise.

Thanks for recapping.

I hope you all are doing well - or about to have your own surprise turn for the better!

I read online, right after the finale aired, that Shonda Rimes, the creator of Grey's purposely left George out of most of the season so that we wouldn't notice that he was basically gone for this entire episode. Honestly, I think her plan worked. I was totally shocked. And if that's the case, it sounds like this was in the works all season and that George/TR is really gone :(
