This week on Grey's Anatomy, the show starts out with a serious tone as Addison Montgomery makes her way back to Seattle Grace. When the ambulance arrives The Chief and Derek meet it with hugs for Addison and the woman she's with. They wheel in Addy's brother as Addison tells Derek that he was fine earlier but then something just went terribly wrong. So did they take an ambulance all the way to Seattle from LA? Or does this guy live in Seattle? Or am I thinking logic way too early into this explosive crossover event?

At the frat house, Izzie is up late with a table full of crafts. She has out the glue, glitter and uncooked macaroni and is drawing spirals on construction paper. Alex asks her if her late night craft session is a dead fiancé therapy session. Izzie, after giving Alex a look that says NOW you ask about the dead fiancé stuff, informs him that she's worried about the broken interns. They've had a rough run, and she is ready to put back on her Suzy Sunshine cape and fix them. She doesn't think they are losers, she just wants them to have some non-self mutilating fun.
Addison and her friend tell McD and the Chief that bro has a parasite that he thinks he got from eating unwashed food in Mexico. I can relate. I've definitely felt like I had a parasite after some of the things I've put in my mouth in Mexico. (That'sWhatSheSaid). Derek and Addy discuss confusing medical mumbo jumbo that I didn't follow, but to top line they are already disagreeing on how to treat her brother. While they are arguing he begins to go into cardiac arrest.
Morning comes at Seattle Grace and all the interns are wide-eyed and bush..well, they are there. I agree with Karev, besides Super Lex, these interns are bottom of the barrel. The interns ask about the patient with "worms in his brain" excitedly. When none of the interns know the medical term for that, the Chief turns them over to Izzie for the day relieved no doubt to not have to deal with them. Izzie passes out decorative construction paper and prepares them for the game they are about to play. The interns are not thrilled about the games, but these were the same group of interns trading food at lunch and drinking out of juice boxes, oh and cutting each other open. These interns are lucky they are even allowed to use the bathroom in this hospital, let alone play games.
Bailey is assigned to Addy and company so the Chief hands out the resident's assignments. Grey is surprised to hear that Addison is in the hospital. It seems a little weird to me that her boyfriend-who she lives with-has his ex-wife in the hospital and she was the last to know. Bailey finds Addison and meets Naomi, Addison's friend. After introductions Derek gives an update on Archer's (Ad's brother) condition. He's stable, but we also learn that he carries a massive hatred for McD and is dating Naomi. Derek is surprised and annoyed that Naomi is dating him, looks like the hatred is mutual.
Naomi and Derek catch up briefly, and Naomi sadly says that she thought that Addy and McD would last forever. After the love song that he wrote and sang for their wedding, she thought they would live happily ever after. She also thought her and her husband would last forever, and Derek and her ex-husband's friendship would last forever... Derek seems annoyed by the whole conversation and leaves. Did anyone else wonder how many times Naomi has watched the "Friends Forever," Saved by the Bell episode. "Always will be friends!"

The married/pregnant couple from last week is being checked up on by Torres, when they are interrupted by Karev. He tells the woman, that her brain aneurism removal surgery is temporarily on hold, now that the brain parasites are in the house. The couple, learning that the brain ticking time bomb is going to keep ticking in her head, are less than pleased.

Does this mean we'll never know who Sadie's very influential father is? What a train wreck her character was...
The screencap about giving Torres back her dignity was funny, but in a sad, too true kind of way. Why, oh why, can't they put her with Sloan? I will never buy her as a lesbian...she's just not as convincing with a woman as she is with a guy.
This epi crystallized why Merideth and Derek don't work for me. When he's with Addison, they're equals, and they challenge each other. Mer will always be less...and that's how he will always see her and treat her. (And so will his friends.)
Lifetime is running the first season right now. I watched the second epi Sunday night and confirmed several things: this show used to be far better written...Izzie actually was a badass doctor once upon a time, instead of a snivelling cheerleader...George has never added anything to the landscape...and Burke was a great chracter. The show is less for his absence.

Great recap, and thanks for summarizing the Private Practice part for me. It's still on my DVR but now I'm ok with skipping it. If you want to do a one week crossover, fine, but to really jam another show down our throats for 3 or more weeks is obnoxious.
I don't watch PP for a reason, namely when in the pilot the elevator started talking to Addison and she was talking back, I couldn't hit the channel button fast enough. All I could think was they were going to turn a great character into "Ally McBeal, M.D."
One thing I think you missed was that I don't think Karev was concerned about Izze because she was organizing the intern game, but rather because on two occasions it appeared there was something serious wrong with her field of vision. First she didn't see scissors that were on the table right in front of her, and then at the end of the intern game, when Alex was handing her the end of the scotch tape finish line she had a problem seeing it. Apparently our girl is not out of the woods yet.
Good riddance to Sadie. By far the most useless and annoying character yet on this show, and that's really saying something.

I actually watch PP, but I can see why people are annoyed by it. Addison is nowhere near the Addison she used to be on GA and I dearly miss the Badass Doctor and Amazing Woman that she used to be.
I was so excited for Sadie when she first arrived. But damn, did they ever drop the ball on that one! There are so many hanging plotlines, it looks like my grandmother's old angora sweater!
Mer/Der got to the point where they annoy the crap out of me. I loved the first three seasons where they were together, then not. It was drama and angst and I loved it. Now they're trying to keep them together but inject some of that drama back into it, and honestly, it's just not working for me.
Owen and Christina are, by far, my favorite couple on the show right now. They ignite my TV screen every time they're on. I hope that the GA writers don't just drop his issues with the war once they finally hook up. PTSD is a pretty serious issue, and I don't think that it's adequately covered (guess you can tell that I'm former military).
I love Alex & Izzie together when she's not all batshit crazy. Too bad they won't have time to fix her (I've heard that despite Shonda's previous claims, they're going to kill off Katherine's character), because I think that theirs could be an amazing relationship. I hope they don't turn Alex back into Prick Alex. =(
I won't be sad to see George go. He adds nothing to the show and never has. The Gizzie storyline made me almost as sick as watching him pine over Meredith (don't get me started on The Worst Sex Ever). Bye-bye TR. Hope you find something better.
Callie. Sigh... I loved her when she first came on. She was strong and smart and beautiful and amazing. Yes, the marriage to George was a nightmare (was there ever any doubt it would be??), but she should've been able to pick herself back up and MOVE ON! Her fling with Sloan was freaking HOT and I thought they'd be great together. They're amazing as friends (I love every scene they're in together), and could've been more amazing as a couple. But honestly, I think I like him better with Lexie just because of the person she's bringing out in him. Sensitive But Still Dirty Sloan is HOTTTT. I don't buy Callie as a lesbian AT ALL. Not even close. No.
I don't know what they're doing with Bailey, but I hope they do something soon. I hate seeing her float in the wind like this.
