Bailey is surprised that the ex-husband has come all the way from LA to check up on the new boyfriend being treated by his ex-brother in law who is his ex-best friend. Taye (Sam) isn't sure why he is here either, but I'm guessing it is to remind non Private Practice viewers like me, that you can tune-in every Thursday at 10/9c to see the obscene hotness that is Taye Diggs. Before Sam leaves to check on Archer, Bailey warns him that things aren't looking good, other than his gorgeous smile and fine ass. Ok, I've made my point and will move on.
Yang and Mer walk down the hall and play "who's relationship is more f-ed up today." Meredith goes first by saying my boyfriend's ex-wife is in the hospital with her brother, who I didn't even know existed, and apparently my boyfriend writes songs and plays them in public like a total tool. Yang counters by saying that her boyfriend-ish's ex-fiance is in the hospital, who Yang did not know existed, and that he broke up with via email. Grey asks what is wrong with the girl and Yang gets a LOL from me by saying nothing other than the fact that she calls her dad, daddy. I'm right on par with you on that, Yang.

Lexie continues to rock in the intern game, and the next part of her challenge is to diagnose Dr. Sloan. He starts to tell her his symptoms include a rising heart rate and a hardening.....but she quickly stops him to say that if he won't talk dirty to her in front of others he can't do it privately, unless they are playing guitar hero. As Lexie completes her assignment with Sloan, Sadie secretly listens on to Lexie's answer. George catches Sadie cheating and gives her a new assignment. What is going on with Sadie? Is she really bad at games...or a moron?
The Major finds Yang to 'splain himself. Yang only wants to discuss the patient, and has no interest in talking about anything else. She walks away from him when he persists and runs into the ex-fiancé who looks like she borrowed her outfit from one of her second graders. She looks up to see Owen and is absolutely floored. She thought he was still in Iraq and has been terrified and praying for him for months. She saw his mom just a few days ago, and she thinks he's still in Iraq too. Her confusion changes to relief and joy as she hugs him, thrilled he is home. The major doesn't return her embrace, removes her arms and walks away. The only person's face who appears more shocked than the ex fiancé is Yang's, who witness the whole thing.
Addison has taken up shop in the least used room at Seattle Grace, the chapel. She is trying to pray, but doesn't know how to because she only goes to church on Christmas and hasn't built up any clout with the big man upstairs. Torres joins her, and without saying anything begins to pray aloud for guidance with what to do about kissing the pediatric surgeon. Addison listens on, not sure if she's more shocked by the woman thing, or the pediatric surgeon thing. When Torres finishes, she reminds Addison that she saves babies every day, and that hasn't gone unnoticed from whoever may be listening up above. But maybe she should ask for forgiveness for the whole, though shalt not commit adultery mishap.

Sam and Derek meet for the hottest bromance of the season with a hug that I would love to slip in the middle of. They do the quick update, "I got an earring," "I banged the intern," "we're both about to buy red sports cars" catch up, then Sam tells Derek the serious news. Addison is praying. She needs a miracle and even though Derek reiterates that a miracle isn't possible, Sam wants him to look a little harder.
And back in the horse race, Sadie is checking up on the pregnant woman with all the residents watching. She tries to check the babies heart beat, and fearfully says she can't hear it. Well that's a super thing to tell the woman with a brain aneurism whose heart rate keeps reaching alarming levels. Karev comes in and tells her if she keeps the heart monitor on the baby's ass, she'll never hear anything except maybe some baby gas. Izzie, the internal optimist gives Sadie an A for effort and I give her a G for Get the F out of the hospital Sadie, you bring nothing to any story line they try to give you.

Does this mean we'll never know who Sadie's very influential father is? What a train wreck her character was...
The screencap about giving Torres back her dignity was funny, but in a sad, too true kind of way. Why, oh why, can't they put her with Sloan? I will never buy her as a lesbian...she's just not as convincing with a woman as she is with a guy.
This epi crystallized why Merideth and Derek don't work for me. When he's with Addison, they're equals, and they challenge each other. Mer will always be less...and that's how he will always see her and treat her. (And so will his friends.)
Lifetime is running the first season right now. I watched the second epi Sunday night and confirmed several things: this show used to be far better written...Izzie actually was a badass doctor once upon a time, instead of a snivelling cheerleader...George has never added anything to the landscape...and Burke was a great chracter. The show is less for his absence.

Great recap, and thanks for summarizing the Private Practice part for me. It's still on my DVR but now I'm ok with skipping it. If you want to do a one week crossover, fine, but to really jam another show down our throats for 3 or more weeks is obnoxious.
I don't watch PP for a reason, namely when in the pilot the elevator started talking to Addison and she was talking back, I couldn't hit the channel button fast enough. All I could think was they were going to turn a great character into "Ally McBeal, M.D."
One thing I think you missed was that I don't think Karev was concerned about Izze because she was organizing the intern game, but rather because on two occasions it appeared there was something serious wrong with her field of vision. First she didn't see scissors that were on the table right in front of her, and then at the end of the intern game, when Alex was handing her the end of the scotch tape finish line she had a problem seeing it. Apparently our girl is not out of the woods yet.
Good riddance to Sadie. By far the most useless and annoying character yet on this show, and that's really saying something.

I actually watch PP, but I can see why people are annoyed by it. Addison is nowhere near the Addison she used to be on GA and I dearly miss the Badass Doctor and Amazing Woman that she used to be.
I was so excited for Sadie when she first arrived. But damn, did they ever drop the ball on that one! There are so many hanging plotlines, it looks like my grandmother's old angora sweater!
Mer/Der got to the point where they annoy the crap out of me. I loved the first three seasons where they were together, then not. It was drama and angst and I loved it. Now they're trying to keep them together but inject some of that drama back into it, and honestly, it's just not working for me.
Owen and Christina are, by far, my favorite couple on the show right now. They ignite my TV screen every time they're on. I hope that the GA writers don't just drop his issues with the war once they finally hook up. PTSD is a pretty serious issue, and I don't think that it's adequately covered (guess you can tell that I'm former military).
I love Alex & Izzie together when she's not all batshit crazy. Too bad they won't have time to fix her (I've heard that despite Shonda's previous claims, they're going to kill off Katherine's character), because I think that theirs could be an amazing relationship. I hope they don't turn Alex back into Prick Alex. =(
I won't be sad to see George go. He adds nothing to the show and never has. The Gizzie storyline made me almost as sick as watching him pine over Meredith (don't get me started on The Worst Sex Ever). Bye-bye TR. Hope you find something better.
Callie. Sigh... I loved her when she first came on. She was strong and smart and beautiful and amazing. Yes, the marriage to George was a nightmare (was there ever any doubt it would be??), but she should've been able to pick herself back up and MOVE ON! Her fling with Sloan was freaking HOT and I thought they'd be great together. They're amazing as friends (I love every scene they're in together), and could've been more amazing as a couple. But honestly, I think I like him better with Lexie just because of the person she's bringing out in him. Sensitive But Still Dirty Sloan is HOTTTT. I don't buy Callie as a lesbian AT ALL. Not even close. No.
I don't know what they're doing with Bailey, but I hope they do something soon. I hate seeing her float in the wind like this.
