After Bernard's surgery, the Major starts telling the daughter about his prognosis. As he's talking, she interrupts him to say how much he's changed. He doesn't even look like he used to, he looks hard....like someone who wouldn't even take their clothes off when they shower. The Major does not want to talk about this, and keeps trying to tell her about her father. She demands an explanation for the two line email and instead of answering, the Major says that her father has cancer and he leaves. All of a sudden the two line break up doesn't seem so bad.

In round two of "whose relationship is more F-ed up" between Grey and Yang, Grey looks at Derek interacting with all of his friends and feels like he had this whole other life before her. She seems very surprised that her divorced 40-something boyfriend had this whole life and other friends and other world, before he picked up everything and moved across the country. Yang simply says she doesn't know Owen and walks away, because she is the obvious winner in this round.

Yes, it's shocking that he has a past and wasn't born the day you guys met

After a long day of intern games, George tracks down Sadie to discuss her performance. He noticed that she was incapable to complete any of the tasks throughout the day, even though they are all the basics of medicine. He warns her that people will rely on her to know what she says she does, and that people's lives could potentially be at stake. It's a little disturbing one, that someone is just now noticing she is incompetent, and that 2 she was planning on removing Lexie's appendix. What was she going to do? Cut into Lexie and guess? Sadie is indignant and denies it.

The Major pulls Yang aside for the last time to explain himself. He can't drive the six miles to see his mom, because if she saw him, or if anyone he used to know saw him, they'd see how destroyed he is by war. He isn't the same man anymore, and all you have to do is look at him to see that. The only time he feels like a man is when he's with Yang. Mainly because she emasculates all men. This scene is accompanied by a dramatic indie song that I'm sure will be an Itunes top 10 by the end of the month, and I'm totally back on par with this relationship. I knew it was just the music. These two are intense and I dig it! Imagine when they finally do have sex. The emotional four play is hotter than porn.

McD finally goes to his forgotten pregnant patient and apologizes for the missed surgery. He promises to remove the aneurism in the morning, but that just isn't good enough. She tells him she just can't wait, and very kindly and sweetly asks for the surgery today. McD, who never met a botoxed face he didn't love, caves in and says yes.

Sloan congratulates Lexie for her stunning victory in the 2009 intern games. As they professionally flirt, Addison notices them talking. She walks over to meet the new vixen in Sloan's life and imagine her surprise when she hears the surname "Grey."

addysurprise.jpg

Grey...as in, G-R-E-Y?

Derek joins the conversation and tells Lexie to get ready to hold the doomsday sucker. Pull you zipper back up Sloan, he's talking surgery. They are doing it tonight. When she leaves, Addison, who can't stop laughing, is about to ask Derek about Sloan dating little Grey. Sloan jumps in and tells Addison that Derek is proposing to Meredith. Addison's stunned silence gives Derek time to rush away.

Karev finds Izzie and is very concerned about her. After the intern games, he knows something is going on with her and wants to know what it is. Izzie repeats that she is fine, but the ominous music proves that Karev doesn't believe her. This confuses me, because this intern ridiculousness actually seems like the most "Izzie" thing she has done in months.

Does this mean we'll never know who Sadie's very influential father is? What a train wreck her character was...

The screencap about giving Torres back her dignity was funny, but in a sad, too true kind of way. Why, oh why, can't they put her with Sloan? I will never buy her as a lesbian...she's just not as convincing with a woman as she is with a guy.

This epi crystallized why Merideth and Derek don't work for me. When he's with Addison, they're equals, and they challenge each other. Mer will always be less...and that's how he will always see her and treat her. (And so will his friends.)

Lifetime is running the first season right now. I watched the second epi Sunday night and confirmed several things: this show used to be far better written...Izzie actually was a badass doctor once upon a time, instead of a snivelling cheerleader...George has never added anything to the landscape...and Burke was a great chracter. The show is less for his absence.

Great recap, and thanks for summarizing the Private Practice part for me. It's still on my DVR but now I'm ok with skipping it. If you want to do a one week crossover, fine, but to really jam another show down our throats for 3 or more weeks is obnoxious.

I don't watch PP for a reason, namely when in the pilot the elevator started talking to Addison and she was talking back, I couldn't hit the channel button fast enough. All I could think was they were going to turn a great character into "Ally McBeal, M.D."

One thing I think you missed was that I don't think Karev was concerned about Izze because she was organizing the intern game, but rather because on two occasions it appeared there was something serious wrong with her field of vision. First she didn't see scissors that were on the table right in front of her, and then at the end of the intern game, when Alex was handing her the end of the scotch tape finish line she had a problem seeing it. Apparently our girl is not out of the woods yet.

Good riddance to Sadie. By far the most useless and annoying character yet on this show, and that's really saying something.

I actually watch PP, but I can see why people are annoyed by it. Addison is nowhere near the Addison she used to be on GA and I dearly miss the Badass Doctor and Amazing Woman that she used to be.

I was so excited for Sadie when she first arrived. But damn, did they ever drop the ball on that one! There are so many hanging plotlines, it looks like my grandmother's old angora sweater!

Mer/Der got to the point where they annoy the crap out of me. I loved the first three seasons where they were together, then not. It was drama and angst and I loved it. Now they're trying to keep them together but inject some of that drama back into it, and honestly, it's just not working for me.

Owen and Christina are, by far, my favorite couple on the show right now. They ignite my TV screen every time they're on. I hope that the GA writers don't just drop his issues with the war once they finally hook up. PTSD is a pretty serious issue, and I don't think that it's adequately covered (guess you can tell that I'm former military).

I love Alex & Izzie together when she's not all batshit crazy. Too bad they won't have time to fix her (I've heard that despite Shonda's previous claims, they're going to kill off Katherine's character), because I think that theirs could be an amazing relationship. I hope they don't turn Alex back into Prick Alex. =(

I won't be sad to see George go. He adds nothing to the show and never has. The Gizzie storyline made me almost as sick as watching him pine over Meredith (don't get me started on The Worst Sex Ever). Bye-bye TR. Hope you find something better.

Callie. Sigh... I loved her when she first came on. She was strong and smart and beautiful and amazing. Yes, the marriage to George was a nightmare (was there ever any doubt it would be??), but she should've been able to pick herself back up and MOVE ON! Her fling with Sloan was freaking HOT and I thought they'd be great together. They're amazing as friends (I love every scene they're in together), and could've been more amazing as a couple. But honestly, I think I like him better with Lexie just because of the person she's bringing out in him. Sensitive But Still Dirty Sloan is HOTTTT. I don't buy Callie as a lesbian AT ALL. Not even close. No.

I don't know what they're doing with Bailey, but I hope they do something soon. I hate seeing her float in the wind like this.
