Matt Parkman - One thing I have noticed about a lot of Heroes is that they all try to convince us that their lives are really terrible and now all of these super powers are going to make it unbearable. I think that most of them are overreacting a little bit, but not Matt Parkman. He's a smart guy, has a good job as a cop, but has dyslexia and cannot pass the detectives exam, which is all written. His wife cheats on him with his own partner, and there are voices in his head. Not, it's not another case of multiple personalities but rather the ability to read minds, which is great, except when you can't control it and it gives you headaches and nosebleeds.
Isaac Mendez - Isaac looked like he would be a really cool hero early on because he can paint the future, but now I think he kind of sucks. He complains a lot, and his drawings aren't very convenient. Painting the future sounds cool, but if every piece of art has to be a mural half the size of my apartment wall, I think I would give up and do drugs to dull the pain, which is what Isaac did.
We do know that Sylar has killed several heroes already and we assume he will be on his quest to find more Heroes. He doesn't have the list, but he has seen the map Dr. Suresh had in his office, which gives him a general idea of where to find people. And remember, he sucked down the brain of Charlie the waitress, the woman with the amazing memory. If he ever sees the list, he can do some damage.
Creepy Black Dude - I won't write up too much about Eden McCain, the wannabe Rachel Bilson who used her mind control abilities to help Mr. Bennet in his quest to protect Claire because she is dead, but I do have to mention Creepy Black Guy, or "The Eraser" as I call him. Mr. Bennet has alluded to meeting many heroes but those heroes never remember what happened next because The Eraser has the ability to erase memories and possibly block the abilities of other heroes.
We thought that The Eraser would always be some sort of sideshow, but the last episode hinted at an increased role. We always thought that he couldn't talk and just did whatever Mr. Bennet told him to do, but bother are false. In the aftermath of what happened to Claire with her almost getting killed by Sylar and all, he erased the memories of many people in Claire's life. Mr. Bennet asked him to do the same with his daughter, but the Eraser refused, meaning that he is answering to somebody who either outranks Mr. Bennet, or has a plan of his own.
I have left out a few characters, but that should get everybody caught up. What did you think were the best parts of this season so far? What questions are you looking to be answered this year?

Thanks for the recap! I just got into Heroes (just watched episodes 7-11 yesterday!), and I feel like I've missed out on a ton. I've even started reading old re-caps to see the comments.
Can't wait for it to start back up again - love all of the storylines (yes, even Niki/Jessica), although I can't wait to learn more about Peter. Why the dreams? And what made him sick?
One thing that I can't get into are the comics on nbc.com - has anyone read them all? Do they bring more to the story? Can someone recap those for me?

Peter's side-talking isn't half as annoying as his god-awful, 80s-retro-tragedy haircut. After all, the side-talking is probably some unfortunate birth defect he can't control, while he must have made a conscious decision about the hair.
Biggest unanswered question: Dinosaur!!
I hope the quality continues. Right now the plot is being driven by the heroes discovering their powers and each other, as well as their efforts to save the world. I'm worried that after they all know & come to better terms with their powers, some of the momentum will be gone. Similar to what seems to be happening on Lost as they find out more about the Island. Although I still think Lost is good, and Heroes is freaking awesome.

I love this show! When will they be repeating the earlier eps?
Oh yeah, TPTB at LOST need to watch this show and see how it's properly done.

J-Unit, can you please do this for Friday Night Lights too??? Or Screampillar if you are reading...
It is my other new fave show and I am worried that not enough people watch it either. I will be devastated if it gets cancelled!

Dent: Screampillar did do this for Friday Night Lights -- it's the first recap in the file.
In fact, as a result of her (I think Screampillar is a her) recaps, I've watched all Friday Night Lights episodes on line, and now it is my second favorite show on tv, after Heroes.

Mrs. Meow, the graphic novels are worth a read if you're really into the show. They are fairly short individually, and add a little backstory or in some cases involve inter-episode fleshing-out. However, at least to this point, they aren't essential to keeping up with the storyline.
J-Unit, one small correction: Sylar has not escaped. Careful examination of one of the most recent GNs and NBC promos reveal this.
My favorite part so far was Parkman and Peter's first meeting. "Get out of my head." "YOU get out of MY head!"
I'm interested in finding out the true scope of Peter's powers. He doesn't have to touch Heroes to channel their power (no contact with Parkman in the holding cell) and appears to retain the powers to a certain degree after leaving their proximity. Remember him drawing the floating stick figures? Isaac was nowhere near.
If he can learn to keep and develop other powers that makes him arguably the most powerful Hero. However, it could be fairly dangerous to him because nobody's developed a superpower radar. I think that's how Petey explodes in the his premonition. Nuclear boy's whereabouts are unknown. (For those who are catching up, he's a man who gave off radiation when under stress and was briefly thought to be Sylar by the Feds. He was being transferred to a federal facility when the van exploded. No confirmation of his death.)
I think he's alive and will cross Peter's path, unknowingly (for both) giving Pete the power to go nuclear.
