Wha? This is my last recap for TVgasm? Well, yes, my run has come to then end, but I'll explain that a little later. For now, let's get to this latest episode. This episode was so good, the sucky narrator is only going to get one sentence!
This episode started a little earlier than where we left off last week. Matt and Ted Sprague had just broken into the Bennet's home. Ted has enough control of his powers that he was able to simply melt the handle off of the back door. Man, I wish I had his ability sometimes, not because I want to blow shit up and give people cancer, but I am a dumbass and lock myself out of my apartment all the time.
Although Ted loved the idea of hostages, Matt was not really stoked about the whole thing. Then again, he wanted answers just as badly as Ted did, and he knows just how dangerous Ted can be. Maybe the best thing would be to play good cop/bad cop, or in this case good hostage taker/bad hostage taker, and try to make a deal.
When the Bennet family walks in, Ted appears first, and HRG knows that he is in deep trouble. When he turns around and sees Matt Parkman, he knows that he is about to enter a world of pain that he may not be ready for. From this moment on, he knows he has to protect his family. If he plays it straight, maybe he can just pretend nothing ever happened, and they are imagining it all.
Mr. Bennet says, "I am just a paper salesman."
It sounds pretty convincing, but we all know that is not true. What we don't know is how it all got started. I generally hate television shows that overuse flashbacks to explain what is happening, but in this case, it was entirely appropriate. What I love about Heroes is that it always leaves us wanting more. There have been a lot of questions accumulating lately, and I have been saying for a few weeks that they are going to have to start answering a lot of questions.

You changed the way I watch TV and I mean that in the best possible way.

Take notes, Lost. Heroes is quickly making me forget about Lost and although I still watch it, I'm seeing greatly superior writing on this show. Jack, Kate, and Locke move over; there's a new sci-fi mystery in town.
Heroes is much better in that they understand that for every new question or mystery that is brought up, another one must be solved. You have to throw the viewers a bone every now and again or you'll get the kind of backlash we're seeing against Lost.
There's nothing wrong with leaving us hanging and leaving many important things unsolved, but it becomes a problem when NOTHING important gets solved. Bravo Heroes!
And bravo J-Unit! Thanks for the memories. Watching TV was twice as great knowing that I could watch the show and then read an equally entertaining recap.

I'm saving the recap for tomorrow, but I have full confidence that it'll be as wonderful and funny and engaging as your posts -- and you -- always were.
I just wish I'd found my way to this crack of a site two years sooner so I could have known you longer.
Godspeed Jojo. Godspeed.

We're all breaking J-Unit's last request, which was to keep this comment section about Heroes.
But then again, isn't J-Unit the greatest of all the Heroes? Think about it.
Farewell, J-Unit.

The whole HRG and Claire backstory this week is a TOTAL rip-off of another
TV show. Mild-manner suburbanite Barney Rubble "works" at a rock quarry. He
and his unassuming wife Betty are unable to conceive. Miraculously, he
receives a baby named Bam-Bam with unexplainable super strong powers. And don't get me started with the Haitian being a complete copycat of the Great Gazoo. Hmm... It reeks of plagiarism to me.

Thanks for this great recap and all the others J Unit. I wish you were sticking around instead of Simone.
An appropriate farewell recap, as it coincides with the teary goodbye between Claire and HRG. Luckily, you won't get shot and have your memory wiped (I hope, B-side doesn't have to shoot you now, does he?).

I'll keep the request... you'll get it in the forum though!
Great recap! This episode was so awesome I felt like I understood how crying after an orgasm feels like.
I don't know if Simone really is still alive. It might just be a dream that Peter or maybe Isaac is having. If she does have powers, maybe her father had some, too. Remember the dream that Peter had with him in it? However, I believe it's most likely a dream.
I don't think HRG was really trying to kill Claude. He told the Haitian to shoot him in a specific spot, remember? I think he shot Claude in a similar spot (and his first shot looked like an accident and didn't look anywhere near fatal). I think maybe he wanted Claude to run and he asked the Haitian to make him think he killed Claude.
God, I can't wait until next Monday!

You missed an important word from Claude apparently. When he was talking about what issues were getting to him about working at Primatech - he said something to the effect of: "I don't know, the vivisections are starting to get to me."

It's sad to see you go J-Unit, TVgasm just won't be the same without you.
That being said I wholeheartedly agree that this episode was beyond awesome, from beginning to end it had me riveted. I loved the sense of the story closing a chapter and moving on to something new. I still love Lose but I would agree that they could learn a thing or two from this show about advancing the story.

I wonder if the Organization will buy HRG's faked assassination-attempt; will they wonder why the Haitian "decided" to shoot HRG and erase him but not kill him? Will they sense a set-up?
I love how characters in this show go from "good" to "bad" fluidly (Matt, HRG, Peter); I dislike comic heroes who are overly defined and love the ambiguiuty of heroes who seem liek otherwise normal people with normal impulses.
I like that Claire got to reconcile with her dad before she went away. I wonder how the Organization will clean up the situation without the the Haitian to wipe memories--Mrs. bennett and Lyle will remember Claire's recovering from the shooting and Ted's goign nuclear, and the whole neighborhood saw Claire recover from radioation burns. Not to mention, the whole neighborhood saw the house blow up and the Bennetts and Ted have been exposed to serious radiation. Will the Organization kill the whole family to shut them up? The neghborhood? It seems like the cat is out of the bag to some degree.
"Vivisections"-ugh. I am sorry Mohinder shared the list...

Simone is not dead, if you look at a screencap of the preview you can see Simone's dead body lying on a bed behind the chick who says "wanna kill me again?" it's the new girl, she's probably a shapeshifter or something!

I am sad to see you go, J-Unit. I really enjoy your Heroes recap.
I pretty much agree with everything NateTheOkay had to say. Lost USED to be my favorite show on TV, but Heroes has quickly taken over that title. I still like Lost and will continue to watch but Heroes is just so much better! What can I really say about this episode except WOW! My favorite part of the whole show was little Hiro pushing up his glasses just like adult Hiro!
I love, love LOVE this show and can't wait for next weeks episode.

Loved. Loved. LOVED. This episode! It was much better than anything Lost has ever done. Much better than pretty much any show has ever done. The end had me in tears. Not that me in tears is very hard to do. I tend to cry over pretty much anything from photos of puppies to Summers Eve commercials.
Speaking of crying, thanks for the recaps J-Unit. You will be missed. *cry*

Hopefully this isn't too much of a SPOILER: I read an interview recently with the person who played Simone (I think it was on USA Today the day after her death episode), and she said that Simone is dead, but will be coming back for a few episodes in the season. I'm guessing she's in a dream/nightmare of Peter's.
This was an awesome episode, though. It featured my favorite characters (HRG, Claire, and Parkman), and it was great to have an episode that answered questions while adding a million more!
Very sad to see you go, J-Unit. You will be missed!

Great episode, great recap. You sure went out with a bang, J-Unit - a bang created by the explosion of a radioactive man. Ooh... could Ted at that moment have been the exploding man in Isaac's painting?
So many other questions left too! How did the organization get formed? Who's ultimately in charge? Why do they see the heroes as a threat? How do they find the heroes in the first place? Will Mr. Bennet remember anything about his precious Claire Bear? Will I survive without this show for several weeks after next week's episode airs???

J-Unit, best of luck in your (hopefully short-lived) retirement. Thanks for all the recaps.
I finally understood the true meaning of the word 'tvgasm' after this episode. Loved it! And yes, I also cried at the end. Lost really needs to take a few lessons from this show. A show MUST at some point answer some of the questions it poses, rather than creating an endless deluge of more questions. Damn, great episode.

Duhhhh... it just occurred to me now- Richard Roundtree Deveaux was the one who could have prophetic dreams! It was the only ability of Peter's that I couldn't account for before. And I guess that was the impetus for everything, because if Peter hadn't picked up that ability, he wouldn't have had all those dreams about flying and tried to jump off a building.

Tokens--
It would be interesting to go back to the first episode where Peter is a nurse and tells Deveaux, then his patient, about the crazy dreams he's been having lately. Deveaux's reation would cast light on your theory. It makes sense.

Niecy,
HRG = Horn Rimmed Glasses. Just a nickname for Mr. Bennett that came about because of his (and Claire's - who, as this episode showed, helped him pick them out) odd taste in eyewear.

bdos88, thank u so much! i only asked because the episode description mentioned him as HRG. so either they've said it on the show or the "Heroes" writers read TVgasm!
